OUR HISTORY
CSL was started 30 years ago by a self-taught chemist Peter Vaughan - a man whose vision was way ahead of his time. In his garage in Papatoetoe, Peter formulated a range of environmentally responsible cleaning products. Sadly, he passed away in 2000. However, three decades later we may have grown considerably in size, reside in modern office, factory and warehouse settings, and have a comprehensive product range, but many of Peter’s core values still drive the company today. CSL is proudly Kiwi owned, and has built a reputation in the market for quality products, superior service and ethical business.
WHAT WE DO
At CSL we formulate, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of cleaning and specialty chemical products. We own a number of brands, with Kemsol being our flagship brand well known in the New Zealand market.

We operate from two locations: a long-running production and distribution centre in Auckland and a new distribution centre in Christchurch. We sell direct to businesses in New Zealand, but we also have a network of distributors who sell our products nationwide and to a number of overseas countries. Our customers are varied. They include businesses like hotels, food processing plants, aged care facilities, commercial laundries, transport operators, commercial cleaners, and more.
We also have a collection of private label and contract customers and we’ve developed many specialty products for them to sell under their own brand names.

First and foremost, the company is built on integrity, honesty and respect. How we interact as a team, how we treat our customers and suppliers, and how we do business. We’re all about people. We always go above and beyond and that’s why our customers choose us.
Innovation
has been key to our growth over the years; staying fresh and relevant and being adaptable to change. With our own lab inhouse, it means we can be responsive to customer’s needs, and stay at the forefront of research and development. Ideas from the team are always welcome as we continue to strive to be the best we can be in every aspect of our business.

OUR TEAM
The key to the energy and passion within our business is the people. We have a friendly and diverse team, a number of whom have been with the company many years. We like to have fun together; in our day-to-day work, as well as through social club events, monthly lunches and company get togethers. We’re all about family too, and care about the highs and lows that go on outside work that shape who we are.

To keep our team engaged and developing we have a formal development programme, and have plans in place to keep people learning – whether that is through interesting on the job opportunities, formal training or other methods such as mentoring. We have a pretty flat structure, and you’ll interface with the leaders on a daily basis and be empowered to take responsibility for your role and make decisions. We’re approachable and happy to invest time in the team, as shared knowledge is a super power, and we’re lucky to have some really clever people on board.

doesn’t just stop with the actual products either; we source bottles that are 100% recycled, have expanded our concentrate range to reduce the impact of transporting our products, and have many other initiatives in place to reduce our carbon footprint.
We are also continuously striving to be more sustainable in how we do business.
Lots of small things like collecting rainwater from the factory roof for use in production and reducing paper usage, all add up to make a positive difference.
As well as caring for our environment, we’re also passionate about being a positive contributor to our local and the wider community. Again, it’s the small things like deciding to donate to Cholmondeley Children's Centre located in Christchurch in place of Christmas gifts for clients. We’re also a proud supporter of a number of charitable organisations and local food banks that are particularly dear to our hearts, and we support them in various ways.

WHAT WE OFFER
At CSL we strive to create an attractive package for all our team. It starts with competitive remuneration and we have a number of benefits such as giving all staff the day off on their birthday, and cleaning products for their home use. We also like to operate a give and take approach to flexibility, and whilst we all work hard when a deadline looms, we never want staff working long hours to become the norm. At the end of the day our aim is to have a group of talented people come together to do a great job, have some fun and then go home and have some fun with their friends and family.
