Security The global threat posed by terrorist, criminal and other subversive groups shows no sign of retreating. The emergence of the IED as a ‘weapon of choice’ for many such groups, and for individuals too, has made the work of law and security enforcers even more difficult.

The RE 80 M2 EST is an advanced, comprehensive, modular Electronic Stethoscope designed for both EOD & IEDD applications. The equipment has the capability of amplifying acoustic vibrations which are the basis of sound waves, emanating from mechanical, electro mechanical and certain electronic fuses and timing devices.

VehicleScan from Chemring EOD is designed to achieve rapid underside scanning of cars, lorries, buses, coaches, motorbikes and trains with minimal operator resource or specialist training. The system is overt rather than covert, so it acts as a deterrent while also improving personal safety for operators.

The RE 80 M2 EST also features an optional Microwave Doppler Contactless Microphone which can be positioned with a useful stand off from the device being monitored. The Contactless Microphone can read the signature of a range of mechanical and electronic timers. It can be used as an autonomous, hand held search instrument or be patched in to the main Stethoscope for remote monitoring.

The RE 1200 Video Inspection Kit is designed for conducting search operations at any time and under conditions where there is minimal ambient light. It has been designed to be lightweight to enable one-handed operation. The equipment consists of a switchable wireless or wired video camera, removable 5" TFT monitor and 2m telescopic arm with clip-on mini castor wheels for under-vehicle search.

The video camera and LED light source is installed in a shockresistant composite case which is mounted on the end of the lightweight telescopic arm. The transmitter, control box and power supply is integrated into a shock-resistant composite case which is mounted on the handle of the telescopic arm.

The digital signal processing unit within the electronics features a ‘frame grabber’ which enables the real time capturing of multiple X Ray images, each time the system is activated. Multiple frames can be held, individually manipulated and stored. Manipulation features include zoom, enhance, pseudo-3D, object measurement, image enhance, histogram manipulation, contrast stretch and split screen for multiple images.

The De-Armer Underwater Recoilless has been designed to give the naval EOD technician an equipment which will effectively render safe a wide range of limpet mines when attached underwater to the hull of naval vessels. The RE 50-28 DA-UWR is cartridge operated and electrically initiated. The equipment is attached to the hull by an EOD diver and is fired remotely. On firing, an elastomer projectile penetrates the fuze pocket and dynamically destroys the fuze system.
