SHADES Designer Eyewear
Introduction Shades Shades, a designer eyewear shop, started out as a project that involved inventory and stock control. The intent of the assignment was to create a store that housed a select merchandise category. The product category that I have selected for this specific store is designer eyewear. Characteristics of the Industry Luxottica Group is expanding into India. The eyewear company reported that it plans to open 100 Sunglass Hut in high-end malls and premium retail stores. (Women’s Wear Daily) Bag Borrow or Steal has recently gone into the designer sunglass rental business. Orginally, the website was known for renting out designer handbags. Now the website carries a range of products such as jewelry and watches. (LA Times) According to the New York Times, an article said that the average sale of handbags has declined 14 percent over the last year. The total sales in the sunglasses industry were $3 billion, and rose by 10 percent in 2007. (New York Times) Market Trends The colors for the 2012 season are muted and natural with a few pops of color. The ma jority of the color palettes are from the eco movement, emphazing forest greens, browns and crèmes. The wayfarer is a retro sunglass style that made its way back into fashion. The classic aviator is a great look for anyone. Oversized sunglasses are still popular. Gradient tints on lenses are still giving that designer quality and look.

s Executive Summary
The Swimolgy brand plans to offer a selected range of customizable (color and pattern) swimwear. Along with the product there is a personalized certificate of authenticity that goes with the garment. Our “splash out” will be in Spring 2010. Our reason for entering this market is because there has been a rise in sales since 2006 from $12.88 billion to $13.51 billion, in 2012. We plan to cater to the under served market of women tired of searching for the right unique swimwear. Now, she can add to her own existing wardrobe with “Swim-o-logy”.
Mission Statement
Our values are to produce and work with an array of products based on “showering yourself with Swimology” and to create awareness for making our earth “a place worth saving”. Swimology is a swimwear company, whose philosophy is based on creating and naming your own beachwear attire while supporting a great cause. Swimology plans to contribute 5% of all its profits to marine foundations of the patron’s choice.
