Critical thinking of traditional funeral parlour

With a burgeoning aging population, death infrastructure needs a rethink. Morgues, funeral homes, crematoria and mausoleums aren’t only built for the dead, they are also for those who are mourning – somewhere to say our farewells when death us do part. The site is located in a field on the north side of the dormitory building in the eighth district of Hunan University of Science and Technology. There is a height difference of about three meters between the site and the surrounding roads on the south and east sides, with woods on the west and endless fields on the north. I plan to build a funeral crematorium here for the surrounding people to challenge the existing traditional funeral crematorium. From studying the degree of connection between the living and the dead in each functional part, I began to think about how to improve the current process of receiving the urn after the commemorative ceremony, and use different connection methods in the building to achieve better interaction between the living and the dead.

C O L L AG E V I S I O N VARIOUS ELEMENTS IN ARCHITECTURE The collage on the right shows my artistic imagination of this funeral home. I imagine that in this funeral crematorium, the connection between the living and the dead is the main core, so the hands of the living and the dead extend through each other through the central The coffins are connected to each other. In other words, in this building, I attach great importance to the perception of the existence of the living and the companionship of the dead. The main body behind it is the Western church. I want to learn from the Roman pillars and the sacred atmosphere, and think about how to combine with the solemn and ritual sense of traditional Chinese funerals. In addition, plants and flowers can be seen around the coffin, which means that the whole building is green, and it also implies that the deceased can return to nature well. At the same time, the hand of the deceased came out of the soil root system. This means that I hope to realize the integration of people and architecture in this building. The ashes of the dead can be integrated into the soil and walls. After a long time, plants and vines will grow to represent their existence in another way. . The picture below shows the space scene of the existing funeral crematorium, through the study of the existing four functional spaces. In the entrance space, you can learn about the large entrance platform and the full-height lobby space, which will make people suddenly enlightened and have a good line of sight communication. In the transitional space, you can learn to combine corridors, outdoor courtyards and buildings in a harmonious way, which will make people feel the nature while calming down. In the memorial space, you can learn to use the circular centripetality to form a ceremony and the central waterscape. This will make people gather together involuntarily, and at the same time have a sense of ritual. In the ashes storage space, you can learn the setting of the ashes wall and the outdoor tombstone. In the end, it was discovered that the living and the dead did not interact well in some of these spaces.

The research on the venue allows us to draw out the individual needs of different groups of people around for different sports, and also allows us to reflect on the single function of modern gymnasiums and the problem of low space utilization. We need a large gym that can meet our individual sports needs and create a boundary between private and public. In order to solve this series of problems, we achieve our goals through data research and survey analysis, boldly conceive the development trend of future sports, and change the application of high technology to future gymnasiums. We carry out personalized space design for the three major groups of students, residents and citizens in the future. At the same time, we introduce a magnetic levitation system to solve the problem of space movement and high utilization, and create a multi-functional magnetic gymnasium that meets the future development and achieves the locality of the design and innovative.

COMMUNITY REHABILITATION GARDEN

Critical thinking of traditional wellbeing center

Is a hospital a reinforced concrete cage for patients? Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern professional nursing, emphasized in "Nursing Chronicles" that fresh air and sunlight play an important role in the well-being and recovery of patients. Research has continued to show that plants and farming play an increasingly important role in patient recovery and remission. For this rehabilitation center located on the edge of the residential community, I started from the art of visibility, intimacy, quietness, comfort and positiveness, and explored how to blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor to create a rehabilitation center surrounded by rehabilitation gardens. People will be collectively gardening and farming, and cooking dinners at the same time. This is a forest world where every community resident is welcome to participate in the creation. Patients and residents will restore their physical and mental health here, and escape from the cage defined by the building. true well-being.

C O L L AG E V I S I O N VARIOUS ELEMENTS IN ARCHITECTURE The collage on the right shows my artistic vision of this rehabilitation welfare center. I imagine that in this building, the connection between the patient and the plant is the main core, so the patient and the plant are in extended contact with each other and connected with each other through the help of medical staff. In other words, in this building, I attach great importance to the patient's perceived presence of plants and the company of medical staff. The main body behind it is the ward and garden. I want to draw on the boundaries of two different spaces, and think about blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor to combine them. In addition, plants and flowers can be seen around the path, and the entire building is green, which also means that patients can return to nature well. Meanwhile, there are people working the land below. This means that I want to implement collective farming and cooking in this building, where everyone can work together and the plants are integrated into the soil and walls. Over time, this place will become another forest, in another way to achieve the real wellbeing of the surrounding residents and patients. The picture below is the space scene of the existing welfare center, through the study of the existing four functional spaces. In the entrance space, you can learn that the oversized entrance platform and the double-height space extend the plants, making people feel good and in direct contact with the trees. In the transition space, one can learn to harmoniously combine corridors, outdoor courtyards and buildings, allowing people to feel nature while meditating. In the balcony space, you can learn to use the indoor garden on the first floor to form an upper and lower connection with the balcony on the second floor. This will allow people to communicate in their line of sight, and at the same time better integrate plants into the building. In the healing garden space, you can learn about the relationship between the setting of the outdoor wall and the plants. In the end, it was found that in some of these spaces, patients and plants did not interact well.

GET ALONG WELL WITH YOURSELF

S O L I TA RY C O M M U N I T Y S Y S T E M

Critical thinking of contemporary social society

The French philosopher Pascal said that almost all of our pain comes from our inability to be alone in the room. With the development and progress of the times, the ever-changing technology has closely connected people all over the world, creating this era of information explosion. When the rivers that we are deeply indulged in this era want to rise to the surface and breathe, no one tells us how to be alone. Through the preliminary data analysis and research, four types of solitary personalities are obtained, and the physical and spiritual needs of each personality are studied in order to create the corresponding architectural space. Through the interaction with the mobile phone, the publicity welcomes anyone in the world to take a personality test and enter the corresponding community life. Be alone in a specially designed space and communicate with others when needed. I hope that people in this community can get the desire for knowledge, the abundance of the soul world, and the ability to deal with intimacy.
