ETS PROFICIENCY PROFILE
ATTENTION ALL GRADUATING SENIORS REQUIRED TESTING
The ETS Proficiency Profile is designed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) as a measure of college-level reading, mathematics, writing, and critical thinking in the context of the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The Proficiency Profile is designed for colleges and universities to assess their general education outcomes, so they may improve the quality of instruction and learning. The ETS test provides invaluable data for accreditation, strategic planning, curriculum improvement, performance-based funding, benchmarking, determining “value added" or learning gains and for use in the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA). Student scores are used as one method to assess the General Education Program. Participation is critical in helping the University evaluate the educational process. While individual scores do not have a negative impact on the students’ academic record, the overall score for the university is impacted. This test is used to establish the level of the skills of our students, compared to other institutions across the country, and reflects on the university as a whole, so it is important that you do your best. The web address for the test Login Page is http://proficiencyprofile.ets.org. The Session number for login is 40970-8439092. The testing session will only be open until Friday, April 27, 2012. If you prefer to take the paper version of the test, please send an email to brandi.newkirk@famu.edu. The paper version of the test will be offered upon request.
ATTENTION ALL GRADUATING SENIORS REQUIRED TESTING ETS PROFICIENCY PROFILE TESTING INSTRUCTIONS
Go to the following website, you must use internet explorer http://proficiencyprofile.ets.org Click on Run ETS PROFICIENCY PROFILE System Check Type in Florida A&M University for the school name. Click on Run the Check (make sure your computer allows pop-ups) Click on Return to Site Readiness Click on Download Browser, and then follow the instruction on the screen. Once you have finished the download, click on the TAKE THE TEST NOW icon. Once the test screen comes up, it will ask you for a session number. Type in the following number including the dash
40970-8439092
That will log you on to the test. Then follow the instructions on the screen and type in all requested information.
The test is only 36 questions and you have 40 minutes to complete the test once you get to the first question. Do not try to open any other screens or documents once logged on for the test or you will be automatically locked out and not be able to complete the test.
