MEDITATION
SPOTS
DOF workshop (Design optimization and fabrication)
Meditation spots, is a Pavillion located in the lagoon at the Metropolitan Park, La Sabana. The design involves a “bridge” which creates a link between water and earth. A place where .the person is “In between” sensations Created in a strategic point, since this metropolitan park is considered to be a “breather” for the city. Among many urban places, this is a place to breathe and relax. Created with a concept of 3s in mind, which involves three elements in nature, light, wood, and water, a combination of this is what helps the person find their true-self internally and create a direct .bond with their environment A place created where people can relax and practice some sort of relaxation exercises, .near the water The concept of this meditation spots was to create a place as natural as possible, creating a direct relationship with nature. The materials involved in the pavilion’s design where mostly .wood and its accessories

G&Y
HOUSE
Urban and City Planning Workshop
The design concept of the G&Y house it to create a space that articulates its interior and exterior spaces. By creating different connections and paths which will try to connect all of the house’s .spaces Creating a dynamic path to the different places inside the house. This house had a particular characteristic, which was that the house involved particular activities for the different members of the family. The design was to create spaces that involved Zen and relaxation, depending on these different activities, the house was specially de.signed to fit them

ANTICIPATING SUSPENSE Zaha Hadid Workshop
The purpose of the workshop was to find interaction between structure and the environment. The main idea was to explore new alternatives for suspended and adaptable systems of pri.mary connectivity, in a three weeked course Section of the model The goal was finding a symbiotic relationship between the different materials and their interaction in the environment, to see the effect of these structures on the costarican environment. In a future this could result as a possible .prototype depending of their main usage The first step was to explore the different materials and their different reactions with the al.tered variables The idea of the workshop was an exploration with the fabrication on the prototypes having in account a different set of variables and the will Total section views change the dynamic and the functionality of the .model The goal was to seeing a functioning system in a living environment such as the forest to see .its interaction The installation of the prototype is a major part of the functionality of the model, since it will de.termine the performance of the model Three models where actually constructed to determine their functionality, and they where .constructed in site Modeling of the prototype using Rhinoceros

CASSETTE LUMINAIRE The purpose of the clasee was to generate a lamp design using a specific concept to create a direct bond between the concept and the final idea of the lamp. The concept I used was Tranquility, and equilibrium in space. The idea I had in mind, was to create a lamp that when turned on, it would create tranquility in a room. The materials used were old cassette tapes, using the wholes as patterns to create equilibrium and distribute the light throughout the space. The function of this lamp is to serve as a pacifier, to bring calmness inside a space, this done with the circular patterns in the cassettes.

CONCRETE GARDEN The idea of this project was the creation of an artificial concrete garden for a marginal commu.nity in Barrio Nuevo Barrio Nuevo is a slum in the middle of the urban .city of San JosĂŠ, Costa Rica The idea was to create a space that reflected and produced light since the major problem in their community was their lack of light in the area. The space designed was a concrete garden, which offers light and a place where children can play, while being close to their mothers (since it is a problematic neighborhood) and a place where the same mothers could unite. A recreational meeting space for the community of Barrio Nuevo was created. The concrete garden offers a safe space in the community, and it offers a space of interaction and social connec.tion, which is needed in Barrio Nuevo

MAGAZINE Concrete Garden magazine design

Even though we are in the year 2012, in some ways it doesn´t seem that way. There has been advances in medicine, technology, science as in other fields, but the must important one, society seems to be falling behind. People say society has progressed but personally it doesn´t seem that way. We are witnesses of a new era. It seems to be that the year 2012 is all about change, a change in society in how people think, live, dress or even look. This change in society appears to be a physical change, it does not transcend the superficial. People try too hard to look, seem, think and appear different to others. When the truth is, they are just followers of this new trend. “I am different” that is the new motto nowadays. But when difference is really showed, they are ostrasized. You might think the young generations have a whole new and different concept about on multicultural aspects, but the truth is their opinion depends on what the masses think. “Everybody laughs at people that are different” But is being different really a crime? No! the crime is trying
to fit to a mold society made for you and not even questioning it. We live in a prejudice society, and the reality is that everything enters through our eyes. “ If we don’t like what we see, then we don’t like it at all”. We all look the same, act the same and think the same. But do we really all want to be the same? The new trend is have a similar look, and act a certain way, but people do not question beyond the obvious, the looks and physical. People treat you a different way if you do not fit a certain a mold society made for you. Diversity is beautiful, the uniqueness of each and every individual is what makes them differ from the rest. “The world is a field full of different flowers, with different colors, shapes and sizes”, a beautiful place. What would the world look like if we were all the same. We are all different, we have different colors, shapes and sizes, and that’s a world with color, a world with life.

CRITICAL
TYPOLOGICAL The objetives of the course included the design of a magazine, that included everything viewed in the course. The course consisted in generating criteria in the students, so these would create their personal opinion and defend it on their own perspective in architecture. This is done using examples in our everyday environment, examples we see are used to seeing, we are know analyzing them and generating criteria from an architectural point of view.

Render and 3D modeling design for a house in Zurquテュ
The job consisted in the 3D modeling and render design of a house for a couple in San Josテゥ, Costa Rica. I was in charge of the image design and visualization of the house. The model was made first in the program, autocad 3D and was later incerted in another program, Vectorworks 2008, where the model was perfected and there was an incorporation of light and texture. Later on the images where exported from this program, and the details like the people and vegetation where placed using photoshop CS6. This was done to get a complete view of what would the house look like. The job was done working with Paradoxe Arquitectura, a company in Escazテコ, Costa Rica.

SKETCHES AND DRAWINGS
These drawings serve as a representation of my way of designing. How to approach the process of design, using drawings, and sketches. The floor plan and the sections are examples of my design method, and how the first step I take into designing is starting a sketch of how the project will look like.

Brooklyn and Tap
These paintings are another form of selfexpression . The painting presented were done with acrylic paint. These were done outside the architecture school, but serve as a form of channelizing my thoughts into paper. This is my way of communication, and i express what i have to say through art and painting.

The exploration in a three dimentional view through the mock ups, is also another mechanism for design expression and representation. All of the examples presented in these section were different trials of projects seen earlier in the portfolio. The mock up is a very important instrument for design process, it provides a full visualization of how the entire image conception is going to turn out. These models were all made with that purpose in mind.
