THE FRESNO CARDINALS WIN ONE OF TWO WITH BRANDON KING SCORING OFF A WILD PITCH The Fresno Cardinals and Redding Colt .45’s continue the series tomorrow Fresno, CA June 14, 2011 – In the second game of the night, the Cardinals were losing 7-2 going into the sixth inning. The Cardinals scored three runs in the sixth to bring the score to 7-5. Michael Jimenez came in to pitch the top of the seventh inning. Then, in the bottom of the seventh inning the Cardinals had Mitchell Sodersten and LaBronze Sanderson at first and second with no one out. The next two batters were not able to move the runners. The next batter, Brandon King, hit a single to load the bases. Cody White hit a single to tie the game and put runners at first and third. Then a wild pitch allowed Brandon King to score and win the game for the Cardinals. Brandon King scored the winning run in the second game

The Fresno Cardinals played the first two games of the series with the Redding Colt .45’s. The Fresno Cardinals lost the first game 10-2. They scored the two runs in the bottom of the ninth. The Cardinals won the second game 8-7. The Fresno Cardinals batters had twelve hits, ten runs, two doubles, six walks, nine RBIs, two sacrifice flies, and one stolen base in the doubleheader. Brandon King went 2-6 with a walk, double, RBI, sacrifice fly, stolen base, and two runs. Mitchell Sodersten went 2-4 with double, sacrifice fly, RBI, and a run. Cody White went 2-4 with two RBIs. Colt .45’s scored two runs off of two hits and two errors in the top of the third inning. Brian Gaad (Reedley College) walked to start off the bottom of the third. In the top of the second inning, second baseman Brian Gaad caught a fly ball down the right field line for the second out of the inning. The Redding Colt scored two runs off of two hits in the seventh inning. Pitcher Aaron Garabidian (Reedley College) came in the seventh inning with one out. He pitched two and two thirds innings. Brandon King walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch with two out in the seventh. The Colt scored two runs off of three hits in the eighth. Mitchell Sodersten (Fresno City) started off the eighth with his first hit of the season, a double. He moved to third on a ground out. Matt Fox came in to pinch hit and walked to put runners at first and third with one out. The Redding Colt .45’s scored three runs off of five hits in the top of the ninth. John Koretoff (Clovis West/Fresno Pacific) singled to left center and moved to second on an error to start off the ninth. Colton Vaughn (South Mount. CC) walked. Brandon King grounded out moving runners to second and third. Chris Kuber (Fresno City) singed to first baseball scoring John Koretoff. Mitchell Soderston hit a sacrifice fly to right center scoring Colton Vaughn. Connor Williams was hit by a pitch putting runners at first and second. Phil Quade picked off a base runner at first for the second out in the third inning. Pitcher Travis Walker (Kerman/Fresno City) made his first appearance for the Cardinals. He went three innings gave up three hits, and two earned runs. Cardinals’ catcher John Koretoff (Clovis West/Fresno Pacific) caught a foul ball for the second out of the fourth inning. The Colt .45’s scored one run off of two hits in the sixth inning. They led 7-2. LaBronze Sanderson (Cuesta College) singled up the middle to start off the sixth inning. Matt Fox (Reedley College) walked. They moved to second and third on a passed ball. David Whiteside (Patten University) reached on an error scoring LaBronze Sanderson and putting runners at first and third. Brandon King hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Matt Fox. Cody White (Reedley College) singled up the middle putting runners at first and third. Zak Colby singled through the left side scoring David Whiteside and putting runners at first and second. The Cardinals scored three runs off of three hits and one error. The Colt .45’s led 7-5. Cardinals’ pitcher Michael Jimenez came in the top of the seventh inning to shut down the Colt .45’s. He did not allow a batter to reach first. Michael Jimenez got the win and is 2-1 on the season. Pinch hitter Mitchell Sodersten (Fresno City College) singled to right field to start off the seventh inning. LaBronze Sanderson was hit by a pitch. With two outs Brandon King came up to bat and hit a single through the left side loading the bases. Cody White (Reedley College) hit a single through the right side scoring Mitchell Sodersten and LaBronze Sanderson and putting runners at first and third. Brandon King scored the winning run on a wild pitch.
