THE FRESNO CARDINALS HOST LEAGUE MEMBER NOR CAL PIRATES The Cardinals are 4-6 at home Fresno, CA June 24, 2011 – The Fresno Cardinals are hosting the Nor Cal Pirates on Saturday, June 25 at 5:30 pm for a double header and on Sunday, June 26 at 12:00 p.m. at John Euless Ballpark on the Fresno City campus. The Cardinals are 5-11 overall and 4-6 at home, 4-4 at Fresno City, and 3-7 in conference.
The Cardinals Play a Fourteen Game Homestand The Fresno Cardinals play the Nor Cal Pirates for three league game. Then, they host the Nevada Bullets for three league games. The Cardinals play six home games to start off July, hosting the SLO Rattlers, RBI Black Sox, and East Bay Colt .45’s. The Cardinals are 0-2 on the homestand so far and look to improve and turn around the season on this homestand.
Cardinals Batting Stats As a team, the Cardinals are batting .246 with one hundred and twenty-four hits, twenty-one doubles, one triple, four home run, and 56 RBIs. Alex Dibble has the highest batting average at .500. LaBronze Sanderson has a team high fourteen hits. Mitchell Sondersten and Zak Colby lead the team with three doubles. Matt Fox has a team high one triple. Chris Kuber, LaBronze Sanderson, Sammy Donald, and Bryce Smith lead the team with one home run each. Zak Colby leads the team with nine RBIs. Zak Colby has team high fourteen walks.
Pitching Strikeouts The Cardinals pitching staff has struck out 88 batters this year. On June 8, in the second game of the doubleheader against the East Bay Colt .45’s, the Cardinals recorded a season high 11 strikeouts. Michael Jimenez leads the team with 21 strikeouts.
Stealing Extra Bases The Cardinals are 18 for 23 in stealing extra bases this year. Colton Vaughn has the most stolen bases with five. Matt Fox, Andrew Swan, Anthony Lopez, Brandon King, and Mitchell Sodertsen are perfect when it comes to stealing extra bases.
It Takes Two… The Cardinals have turned twenty-one double plays this year. On June 8, in the first game of the doubleheader against East Bay Colt .45’s, the Cardinals turned three double plays. The Cardinals also turned three double plays against the Neptune Beach Pearl on June 11 in the first game of the doubleheader. The Cardinals turned three double plays against the Fontanetti Athletics on June 17.
Going… Going… GONE! On June 18, in the second game of the doubleheader in San Jose, the Cardinals got their first home run of the season from Chris Kuber.
