THE FRESNO CARDINALS HOST THE SLO RATTLERS The Cardinals play five straight home games before hitting the road Fresno, CA June 28, 2011 – The Fresno Cardinals are hosting the SLO Rattlers on Thursday, June 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Fresno City College and Friday, July 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Buchanan High School. The Cardinals are 613 overall and 5-8 at home, 5-6 at Fresno City, 0-2 at Buchanan High School, and 4-9 in conference.

The Cardinals Play a Ten Game Homestand The Cardinals play five home games to end June/start off July, hosting the SLO Rattlers, RBI Black Sox, and East Bay Colt .45’s. The Cardinals are 1-4 on the homestand so far and look to improve and turn around the season on this homestand. The Cardinals won one out of three from the Nor Cal Pirates. The Nevada Bullets had to cancel the series on June 29-30 due to a scheduling conflict. It is unknown at this time if the games will be made up. The games against the SLO Rattlers on July 2-3 have been changed to June 30-July 1.

Cardinals Batting Stats As a team, the Cardinals are batting .247 with one hundred forty-six hits, twenty-four doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 67 RBIs. Colton Vaughn has the highest batting average at .367. LaBronze Sanderson has a team high nineteen hits. Mitchell Sondersten, Zak Colby, and Chris Kuber lead the team with three doubles. Matt Fox has a team high one triple. Chris Kuber, LaBronze Sanderson, Sammy Donald, and Bryce Smith lead the team with one home run each. Zak Colby, Mitchell Sodersten, and Chris Kuber lead the team with nine RBIs. Zak Colby has team high fourteen walks. Mitchell Sodersten leads the team in sacrifice flies with four. Brian Gaad leads the team in sacrifice hits with three.

Pitching Strikeouts The Cardinals pitching staff has struck out 106 batters this year. On June 8, in the second game of the doubleheader against the East Bay Colt .45’s, the Cardinals recorded a season high 11 strikeouts. Michael Jimenez and Clay Gartner lead the team with 21 strikeouts.


Stealing Extra Bases The Cardinals are 23 for 28 in stealing extra bases this year. Colton Vaughn has the most stolen bases with five. Matt Fox, Andrew Swan, Anthony Lopez, Brandon King, Mitchell Sodertsen, Keith Kandell, and Devon White are perfect when it comes to stealing extra bases.

It Takes Two… The Cardinals have turned twenty-two double plays this year. On June 8, in the first game of the doubleheader against East Bay Colt .45’s, the Cardinals turned three double plays. The Cardinals also turned three double plays against the Neptune Beach Pearl on June 11 in the first game of the doubleheader. The Cardinals turned three double plays against the Fontanetti Athletics on June 17.

Going… Going… GONE! On June 18, in the second game of the doubleheader in San Jose, the Cardinals got their first home run of the season from Chris Kuber. LaBronze Sanderson, Sammy Donald, and Bryce Smith all hit a home run against the Santa Maria Packers on June 22.

Outfield Goes the Distance Right fielder Anthony Lopez threw out a runner at home trying to score from second on June 11 against the Pearl in the second game of the doubleheader.
