THE FRESNO CARDINALS START THE 2011 SEASON ON THE ROAD FRIDAY, JUNE 3 The Cardinals are playing the California Glory Fresno, CA June 2, 2011 – The Fresno Cardinals are in their second year as a college summer baseball team and are part of the new Far West League. The Far West League consists of eleven teams from Fresno to Medford, OR to Carson, NV. Last year they were part of the PWBL, before it combined with three other leagues to create the Far West League. In their first year as a summer collegiate baseball team the Fresno Cardinals record was 26-17 and finished third in the PWBL league. The previous seven years they were a not-for-profit competitive summer travel team that competed in tournaments in the central valley and northern CA. The Fresno Cardinals players are local products from the Fresno-Clovis area, as far away as Visalia, Tulare, Hanford, Lemoore, and Modesto, and in between. Some of the players played for the Fresno Cardinals last year. The players are from colleges such as Fresno City College, Reedley College, Cuesta College, Fresno Pacific, Cal State Stanislaus, Fresno State, Oral Roberts, George Fox University, and Patten University. The Fresno Cardinals play the California Glory on Friday, June 2, at 5:10 p.m. at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton. Then on Saturday, June 4, at 11:10 a.m. and Sunday, June 5, at 1:10 p.m. they play at Tony Zupo Field in Lodi. It will be the first league games of the season for both teams. Many of the California Glory’s players are from the Stockton/Lodi/Tracy area. The first home games for the Fresno Cardinals will be on Wednesday, June 8 at 5:30 p.m. at John Euless Ballpark (Fresno City College). It will be a doubleheader against the East Bay Colt 45’s.
