CARDINALS WIN IN 9th WITH CHRIS KUBER SCORING ON A WILD PITCH DURING AN INTENTIONAL WALK The Cardinals have had four walk off wins. Fresno, CA June 30, 2011 – Clay Garter started for the Cardinals and pitched six innings of shutout ball. Rick Demshok came in and pitched two innings of shutout ball. Then going into the top of the ninth inning the bullpen could not keep the lead and gave up ten runs giving the SLO Rattlers the lead. The first batter of the bottom of the ninth inning for the Cardinals was Keith Kandell. He hit the first pitch he saw and started flying around the bases for an inside the park home run and tying up the game. Then with two out and Connor Williams at first and Chris Kuber at second they moved to second and third on a wild pitch. The SLO Rattlers were attempting to intentionally walk Nick Caracillo when the pitcher threw a wild pitch scoring Chris Kuber and ending the game with a win for the Fresno Cardinals.

Alex Dibble had a walk and a RBI. Sammy Donald had two hit by pitches. Brian Gaad went 2-4 with a triple, three RBIs, and a run. Keith Kandell went 1-3 with three walks, a home run, a RBI, a stolen base, and two runs. Chris Kuber had three hit by pitches, a walk, and a run. LaBronze Sanderson went 2-5 with a sac fly, two RBIs, a stolen base, and three runs. Bryce Smith went 32 with a run. Cody White went 3-6 with two RBIs. Connor Williams had two walks. Clay Garter (George Fox Univeristy) got his fifth start for the Cardinals. He pitched six shutout innings giving up four hits and six strikeouts. LaBronze Sanderson (Cuesta College) singled to left field to start off the bottom of the first inning. Brian Gaad (Reedley College) grounded out moving LaBronze Sanderson to second. He stole third with two out. Chris Kuber (Fresno City) was hit by pitch. The next batter Cody White (Reedley College) singled through the left side scoring LaBronze Sanderson. The Cardinals scored one run off of two hits. They led 1-0. Clay Gartner picked off a batter in the second inning. Sammy Donald (Fresno State) was hit by a pitch with two out in the second inning.


LaBronze Sanderson reached first and advanced to second on an error to start off the bottom of the third. He moved to third on a passed ball. Brian Gaad singled to the second baseman scoring LaBronze Sanderson and moved to second on an error. Keith Kandell (Becker College) walked and Chris Kuber was hit by a pitch to load the bases. The Cardinals scored one run off of one hit and two errors. They led 2-0. Anthony Lopez (Fresno City) singled to right field to start off the bottom of the fourth inning. Bryce Smith (Cal State Stanislaus) singled to right field. Then Sammy Donald was hit by a pitch to load the bases. LaBronze Sanderson hit a sac fly to right field scoring Anthony Lopez. The Cardinals scored one run off of two hits and one error. They led 3-0. With one out in the fifth Chris Kuber walked. Then Cody White (Reedley College) singled up the middle. Rick Demshok (Reedley College) came in the seventh inning and pitched two innings. He gave up one hit and struck out one. Bryce Smith singled to left field to start off the sixth inning. Sammy Donald grounded out moving Bryce Smith to second. LaBronze Sanderson singled to right field putting runners at first and third. The next batter Brian Gaad tripled to left center scoring Bryce Smith and LaBronze Sanderson. Brian Gaad scored on a wild pitch. Keith Kandell walked and then with two out he stole second. Cody White singled to center field scoring Keith Kandell. Then Nate Dalena walked. The Cardinals scored four runs off of four hits. They led 7-0. To start off the bottom of the seventh inning Bryce Smith singled up the middle and then moved to second on a wild pitch. With one out he moved to third on a wild pitch. LaBronze Sanderson reached first on an error and with two out Keith Kandell walked to load the bases. The Cardinals were unable to score a run in the inning. In the top of the eighth inning Nick Caraccilo (Cal State Stanislaus) made his catching debut. With one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, Connor Williams (Reedley College) walked and Anthony Lopez reached on an error. Nick Caraccilo reached on a fielder’s choice and an error allowed the bases to be loaded. Alex Dibble (Sonoma State) walked scoring Connor Williams. LaBronze Sanderson reached on a fielder’s choice scoring Anthony Lopez. The Cardinals scored two runs off of zero hits and three errors. They led 9-0. In the top of the ninth inning the SLO Rattlers scored ten runs off of six hits and two errors. They led 10-9. Tyler Walker (Kerman/Fresno City), Aaron Garabidian (Reedley College), and Travis Walker (Kerman/Fresno City) pitched the top of the ninth inning. The leadoff batter in the bottom of the ninth inning was Keith Kandell. He swung at the first pitch he saw and flew around the bases for an inside the park home run. The next batter Chris Kuber was hit by a pitch. With one out Connor Williams walked. With two out the runners moved to second and third on a wild pitch.
