THE SLO RATTLERS ARE SENDING SIX PLAYERS TO THE CCL ALL-STAR GAME Three players are pitchers and three are infielders

San Luis Obispo, CA (July 14, 2010) –

SLO Rattlers CCL All-Stars The SLO Rattlers are sending six players to the California Collegiate League All-Star game on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m at the MLB Academy Barons in Compton, CA. The game will be televised live on Fox Sports West. The game will be replayed on several of the Fox Sports channels at others times. The Rattlers players that are going to the CCL All-Star game are Marc Damon, Richie Mirowski, Todd Simko, Bobby Buckner, Daniel Howell, and Joe Etcheverry.

About the California Collegiate League AllStar Game The top 50 prospects of the California Collegiate League will play in an exhibition game designed to showcase their talents. This is the second year of the CCL All Star game. Last year the CCL Americans won the inaugural game over the CCL Nationals 146. The managers for the game are selected based on their team’s standing in league play as of July 1.

#46 Todd Simko Todd Simko will be pitching the bottom of the third inning for American team. He is the only left handed pitcher for Rattlers this summer. He originally was pitching the eighth inning. He is now starting games also. Todd Simko struck out a season high six batters against the Blues on June 23. He pitched a season high five innings against the Blues on June 23 and the Barons on July 4. Todd Simko played for Cuesta College in 2008 and 2009. This year he was medically redshirted. In 2009 he was an All Western State North Baseball First Team (unanimous selection) as a pitcher. He graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 2007.


#44 Marc Damon Marc Damon will be pitching the bottom of the seventh inning for the American team. He has pitched in relief for the Rattlers. He is the main closer for the Rattlers. Marc Damon got his fifth save this summer for the Rattlers on July 13, 2010. Against the SLO Blues on June 29, he pitched a season high three innings striking out a season six batters. On July 6, he played third base for the Rattlers and scored two runs. Marc Damon is a junior college transfer at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. He is a pitcher and a third baseman. In 2008 and 2009 he played at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ which is a wooden bat league. He was selected to the NJCAA All-Star game in 2009. He graduated from Tucson High Magnet School in 2007. He was all-city as a senior and all-district as a junior and a senior in baseball. Marc Damon was a quarterback on football team and earned offensive MVP honors as a senior.

#14 Richie Mirowski Richie Mirowski will be pitching the top of the third inning for the National team. He had mostly been a starting pitcher for the Rattlers this summer and he has also pitched in relief. He is 0-1 on the season, but has been on the losing end of some great pitching duals. Richie Mirowski pitched a team six innings on July 1 against the Blues. He struck out 10 batters in five innings against the Santa Maria Valley Packers on June 20. This is his second year with the Rattlers. Last year he was a Rattlers All-Star. Richie Mirowski is a junior college transfer at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK. He pitched 43.0 innings, had a 3-1 record with one save, and a 2.15 ERA this year. The last two years in, 2008 and 2009, he played at Cuesta College in SLO. Richie Mirowski graduated from Junipers Serra High School in San Mateo, CA. He was a member of the National Honor Society, student athlete, on the Presidents List, and in the top 5% of his class.

#18Bobby Buckner Bobby Buckner will be playing second base for American team. He has been playing second and shortstop for the Rattlers this summer. He has hit two doubles and one triple this year. He has played in twenty games starting eighteen of them. He has a .200 batting average. He played for the Rattlers last summer. In summer 2008 he played for the Anchorage Bucs up in Alaska. He is a redshirt sophomore at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. He was on the fall 2009 Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0 or better). In 2009 played at Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, Texas. He was redshirted at the University of Texas in 2008. He graduated from Boise High School in Boise, ID in 2007. As a senior he was named a first-team All-American by Playstation, second-team All-American and all-region by Rawlings, and allstate. He was selected to the Perfect Game Top 50 Prospects of 2007.

#45 Daniel Howell Daniel Howell will be the DH for the American team. He had played at first base and has been the DH for the Rattlers this summer. He has hit three home runs this summer. He hit a grand slam on July 13 against the Santa Maria Valley Packers. He had also hit four doubles this year. He stated in nineteen games and has a .155 batting average. He had played for the Rattlers the last two years. Daniel Howell is a redshirt freshman at Santa Barbara City College. He was a second team north All-Western State Conference 2010 Baseball Team. He was redshirted last year at University of Hawaii. Daniel Howell graduated from San Luis Obispo high School. He was a Baseball America top-150 prospect in 2008.


#21 Joe Etcheverry Joe Etcheverry will be playing 1st base for the National team. He is the primary first baseman for the Rattlers this summer. He has hit five doubles and one triple. He was a home run away from hitting for the cycle on June 29 against SLO Blues. He is batting .273. He has played in twenty-four games and started in twenty-three. Joe Etcheverry is junior at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL where is has baseball played for three years. In 2009 he finished in a tie for third on the team in doubles (10), fifth on the team in home runs (5), fifth in walks (21), and led in sacrifice flies (6). He tied a school record with five hits in five at-bats against Illinois State in 2008. Joe Etcehverry graduated from Centennial High School in Bakersfield, CA in 2007.
