THE SLO RATTLERS TOOK TWO OF THREE FROM TEAM VEGAS Trevor Elswick pitched one and two third innings striking out three San Luis Obispo, CA (July 18, 2010) – The Rattlers took the first two games of this series from Team Vegas for a combined score of 10-1. The Rattlers took and 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, but the Rattlers were not able to hold on as Team Vegas beat the Rattlers 5-1. The SLO Rattlers outscored Team Vegas in the series 11-6. The Rattlers and Vegas are 3-3 against each other this summer. The SLO Rattlers outscored Team Vegas 2422 in the six games they played each other this summer. Marc Damon (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) got his first start of the season for the Rattlers. He went five innings, gave up four hits, two unearned runs, zero earned runs, four walks, and five strike outs. He is 1-3 on the season. Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) walked to start off the bottom of the first inning. Jimmy Allen (Rancho Buena Vista HS/Cal Poly SLO) reached on a fielder’s choice. Robert Vickers (Santa Barbara City College) then singled up the middle putting runners at first and third. The Rattlers were not able to score a run in the inning.

Team Vegas had runners at every base in the top of the second inning with one out, but the Rattlers were able to get out of the inning without giving up a run. Davey Schultz singled to left field with one out in the bottom of the third inning. Jimmy Allen singled to right field. Robert Vickers reached on a fielder’s choice putting runners at first and third. Joe Etcheverry (Northern Illinois University) singled to left scoring Davey Schultz. The Rattlers took a 1-0 lead. Chris Hoo (Francis HS/Cal Poly SLO) reached first on an error in the bottom of the fourth with two out. Robert Vickers walked with two out in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Chris Hoo caught a Vegas player trying to steal home for the first out of the sixth inning. Team Vegas scored two runs off of two hits and one error. Chad Caraccioli (Santa Barbara City College) came in the sixth inning and pitched two and a third innings, giving up four hits, three earned runs, and one walk. Team Vegas scored three runs off of three hits in the top of the seventh inning. Pitcher Trevor Elswick (College of the Canyons) came in the top of the eighth inning with one out and pitched one and two thirds innings. He did not give up a hit, walked two and struck out three. Nigel Morton (Southwest Baptist College) singled up the middle with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning.
