THE RATTLERS HAD A EIGHTH INNING RALLY TO BEAT THE PILOTS, 3-2 Center fielder Davey Schultz threw a runner out at home San Luis Obispo, CA (July 12, 2010) – Some of Rattlers players with not much playing time came up with hits or walks and then came around to score. Gabriel Loweree had a two out double in the second inning and then scored on Kyle Wise’s single. That tied the score at 1-1. Gabriel Loweree has not played since the Vegas trip because of an injury. Nigel Morton and Brett Wise walked in the bottom of the eighth inning and scored the second tying run and the go ahead run. It was Gabriel Loweree’s fourth game and Brett Wise’s fifth game in the season. The San Luis Obispo Rattlers won 3-2 over the Santa Maria Pilots. Pitcher Chad Caraccioli (Santa Barbara City College) got his fifth start of the season for the Rattlers. He went five innings, gave up five hits, one earned run, two walks, and one strikeout. The Santa Maria Pilots took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning off of two hits and one error. The Rattlers turned their fourteenth double play of the season.

#23 Gabriel Loweree went 1-for-4 with a double and a run

Jimmy Allen (Rancho Buena Vista/Cal Poly SLO) singled with one out in the bottom of the first inning. Then Bobby Buckner (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) walked. The Rattlers were not able to score in the inning. Gabriel Loweree (Ave Maria University) doubled with two out in the bottom of the second. The next batter, Kyle Wise (Southwest Baptist), came up with a single scoring Gabriel Loweree. Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) reached on an error, putting runners on second and third. The Rattlers tied the game at 1-1. It was Gabriel Loweree’s first double of the season. In the top of the fourth inning center fielder Davey Schultz threw out a runner at home for the third out of the inning.


Robert Vickers (College of the Canyons) singled to start off the bottom of the fourth inning. He moved to second on Chris Hoo’s (Francis HS/Cal Poly SLO) groundout. The Rattlers could not score Robert Vickers. Trevor Elsewick (College of the Canyons) came in and pitched the sixth inning. He gave up two hits, one unearned run, one walk, and one strikeout. Chris Hoo caught a Pilots runner trying to steal second for the first out of the sixth inning. The Pilots scored their other run the inning off of two hits and two errors. They took a 2-1 lead. Mason Radeke (Cal Poly SLO) made his second appearance of the season in the seventh inning. He struck out one and got out all three batters he faced. Mike Massari (University of Redlands) came in and pitched the eighth inning. He got two strike outs. Mike Massari got the win and is 3-2 on the season. Nigel Morton (Southwest Baptist) walked to start of the bottom of the eighth inning. Joe Etcheverry (Northern Illinois University) then singled putting runners at first and third. Zach Steele (Cuesta College) came in and pitch ran for Joe Etchverry. Zach Steele stole second and Nigel Morton scored on the error. Then Brett Wise (Feather River College) walked. Robert Vickers reached on a fielder’s choice putting runners at first and second. Chris Hoo had a broken bat single scoring Brett Wise. Gabriel Loweree grounded out putting runners at second and third. DJ Gunderson (Santa Barbara City College) came in the top of the ninth inning to get the save.
