THE SLO RATTLERS SEASON SWEPT THE CALIFORNIA WAHOOS Kirk Fridrich pitched five innings and this ties second longest he pitched this summer San Luis Obispo, CA (July 19, 2010) – The SLO Rattlers were able to season sweep the California Wahoos. This game was the closest of the games. The Wahoos took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. The Rattlers scored their three runs in the sixth and seventh innings. The SLO Rattlers outscored the California Wahoos in the season series 23-2. The Rattlers only committed two errors in the series and that was in the first game. Jimmy Allen went 2-for-3 with a walk and a RBI. Gabriel Loweree went 1-for-3 with a run. Nigel Morton went 2-for-3 with RBI and a run. Pitcher Kirk Fridrich (Kansas Wesleyan University) got his fifth start of the Rattlers. He went five innings, gave up five hits, one earned run, one walk, and struck out two. He got the win for the Rattlers and is 2-2 in the season.

Jeff Johnson got his first save of the season for the Rattlers

The Rattlers turned their sixteenth double play of the season in the top of the second inning. The California Wahoos scored one run off of three hits in the top of the fourth inning. The Wahoos led 1-0. Jimmy Allen (Rancho Buena Vista HS/Cal Poly SLO) singled and then stole second with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning. He moved to third on a wild pitch with two out. The Rattlers were not able to score the base runner. Mitchell Prophet (Cuesta College) caught a Wahoos runner trying to steal second for the second out in the top of the sixth inning. Trevor Elswick (College of the Canyons) came in and pitched sixth and seventh innings. He gave up one hit, one walk, and struck out two.


Gabriel Loweree (Ave Maria University) doubled to left field to start off the bottom of the sixth inning. Nigel Morton (Southwest Baptist) then singled putting runners at first and third. Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) had sacrifice fly scoring Gabriel Loweree. Nigel Morton stole second, thus putting a runner in scoring position. Jimmy Allen singled to right field scoring Nigel Morton. Jimmy Allen moved to second on a passed ball. Mitchell Prophet was intentionally walked. This the third time this summer a Rattlers batter has been intentionally walked. Mitchell Prophet and Jimmy Allen moved to second and third on an error. The Rattlers were not able to score another run in the inning. The Rattlers led 2-1. Brett Wise (Feather River Community College) walked with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. He then stole second with two out. Nigel Morton singled to center field and moved to second on the throw scoring Brett Wise. The rattlers led 3-1. Mike Massari (University of Redlands) pitched the top of the eighth inning. He got all three batters out including striking out one. Jimmy Allen walked to start of the bottom of the eighth inning but was caught stealing. Pitcher Jeff Johnson (Cal Poly SLO) came in for the ninth inning to get the save.
