THE SLO RATTLERS SHUTOUT TEAM VEGAS, 6-0 Joe Etcheverry went 2-for-3 with two walks and three RBIs San Luis Obispo, CA (July 16, 2010) – The Rattlers offense, defense, and pitching started off the game with Team Vegas right where they ended the game against the California Wahoos. This is the fourth time this year the Rattlers have shutout a team, second time in league play, and the second night in a row. This the sixth time this summer the Rattlers have not committed an error in a game. Bobby Buckner went two 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Jimmy Allen went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored. Starting pitcher Richie Mirowski (Oklahoma Baptist University) went six innings, gave up five hits, walked two, and struck out five. He is 1-1 on the season. Robert Vickers (College of the Canyons) singled up the middle with one out in the bottom of the first inning. A groundout moved him to second. Then Joe Etcheverry (Northern Illinois University) walked. The next batter Daniel Howell (Santa Barbara City College) doubled to left center field scoring Robert Vickers. The Rattlers took an early 1-0 lead.

Richie Mirowski pitched six shutout innings

Chris Hoo (Francis HS/ Cal Poly SLO) walked with one out in the bottom of the second inning. He moved to second on a groundout. Zach Steele (Cuesta College) singled up the middle scoring Chris Hoo. The Rattlers led 2-0. Bobby Buckner (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) singled up the middle with one out in the third inning. Zach Steele made a great catch for the second out in the top of the fourth inning. Team Vegas had runners at second and third with two outs in the top of the fifth inning, but the rattlers were able to get out of it.


Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) singled to second base to start off the bottom of the fifth inning, but he was caught stealing. Bobby Buckner reached first on an error. Joe Etcheverry singled to right field putting runners at first and second. Team Vegas had the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Rattlers were able to get out of the jam. Jimmy Allen (Rancho Buena Vista HS/Cal Poly SLO) singled to the pitcher with two outs the sixth inning. Mason Radeke (Cal Poly SLO) pitched the seventh inning getting all three batters out including striking out two. Booby Buckner singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and moved to second on a wild pitch. Joe Etcheverry walked and then Daniel Howell singled to left field to load the bases. Matt Anderson (Cuesta College) walked to score Bobby Buckner. Jeff Johnson (Cal Poly SLO) pitched a hitless eighth striking out two. Jimmy Allen singled to right center to start off the bottom of the eighth inning and then stole second base. Robert Vickers walked with two out. The next batter Bobby Bucker struck out on a ball in the dirt. With the runners going the catcher threw the ball to third instead of first for the third of the inning, but Jimmy Allen was able evade the tag and everyone was safe. The next batter Joe Etcheverry doubled down right field line clearing the bases. Closer Marc Damon (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) came in for the ninth.
