THE RATTLERS CAUGHT THREE FORESTERS RUNNERS TRYING TO STEAL BASES Michael Nielebeck pitched three shutout innings San Luis Obispo, CA (July 20, 2010) – Relief pitcher Michael Nielebeck caught a Foresters runner trying to steal third in the sixth inning. Then catcher Chris Hoo caught two runners trying to steal second, one in the seventh and one in the eighth. The SLO Rattlers lost to the Santa Barbara Foresters 9-3. Daniel Howell went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI, sac fly, and a run. Jimmy Allen went 1for-3 with a walk and a run. Todd Simko (Cuesta College) got the start for Chris Hoo caught two runners trying to steal second the Rattlers. He went innings, gave up ten hits, seven earned runs, one walk, and two strike outs. He got the loss for the Rattles and is 0-2 on the season. The Santa Barbara Foresters scored one run in the top of the first inning off of three hits. The Foresters took an early 1-0 lead. Robert Vickers (College of the Canyons) walked with two in the bottom of the first. Daniel Howell (Santa Barbara City College) doubled to start off the bottom of the second inning. He moved to third on a groundout. Jimmy Allen (Rancho Buena Vista HS/Cal Ploy SLO) walked putting runners at first and third. Then Chris Hoo (Francis HS/Cal Poly SLO) grounded out scoring Daniel Howell and moving Jimmy Allen to second. Zach Steele (Cuesta College) walked. The Rattlers tied the game at 1-1. The Foresters got six runs off of six hits and two errors in the top of the third inning. Two of the hits were home runs. The Foresters led 7-1.


In the bottom of the third inning Bobby Buckner (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) reached on an error and moved to second. Joe Etcheverry (Northern Illinois University) singled to left field with one out putting runners at first and third. The Rattlers were not able to score a run in the inning. Chris Hoo reached first with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning. Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) singled to right field with two out. Robert Vickers singled to left field to start off the bottom of the fifth inning. He moved to second on an error by the pitcher, and then moved to third on a wild pitch. Joe Etcheverry walked. Daniel Howell had a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Robert Vickers. Matt Anderson (Cuesta College) singled to right field putting runners at first and second. A groundout moved the runners to second and third. The score was 7-2 Foresters. Michael Nieleback (Cuesta College) came in the sixth inning and pitched three shutout innings. He gave up five hits and struck out one. Pitcher Michael Nielebeck caught a Foresters runner trying to steal third base for the second out of the top of the sixth inning. He threw the ball to third baseman Jimmy Allen that then threw it to the shortstop Robert Vickers for the out. Catcher Chris Hoo caught a Foresters runner trying to steal second base for the first out of the top of the seventh inning. Daniel Howell singled to center field with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Chris Hoo caught another Forester runner trying to steal second for the second out of the top of the eighth inning. Jimmy Allen singled the first pitch he saw to right center. He moved to second on a passed ball. Zach Steele then walked. Bobby Buckner singled to left field and move to second on the throw scoring Jimmy Allen. That put runners at second and third. The score was 7-3 Foresters. DJ Gunderson (Santa Barbara City College) pitched the ninth inning giving up four hits, two earned runs, and struck out two. The Foresters scored two runs off of four hits in the top of the ninth inning.
