THE RATTLERS WON TWO OF THREE GAMES IN SANTA MARIA Kyle Wise went 1-for-2 with a walk Santa Maria, CA (July 25, 2010) – The Rattlers played the Packers three times in San Luis Obispo and three games in Santa Maria. The Rattlers won two of the six games. The Rattlers had a better road record against the Packers; they won two of three games in Santa Maria. The Packers lead the series in runs scored this summer at 39-36 and it was tied at 20-20 in runs scored in Santa Maria. Daniel Howell hit two home runs in Santa Maria; one was a leadoff home run and the other was a grand slam. They helped the Rattlers win the games. This is the last game Southwest Baptist University teammates Kyle Wise, Justin Crumply, and Nigel Morton will play college baseball with each other. Chad Caraccioli (Santa Barbara City College) got the start for the Rattlers and pitched two innings. He gave up two hits, three runs, two earned runs, four walks, and five strike outs.

Chris Lauritzen (Santa Barbara City College) walked with one out in the top of the first inning. He then stole second. Robert Vickers (Santa Barbara City College) singled to second base putting runners at first and third. A double play ended the Rattles threat in the first inning. Chris Hoo (Francis HS/Cal Poly SLO) reached first on an error with one out in the second. He moved to second on a wild pitch. Justin Crumply (Southwest Baptist) doubled down the right field line, but Chris Hoo was out at home. Kyle Wise (Southwest Baptist) walked. Robert Vickers walked with two out in the third inning. Joe Etcheverry (Northern Illinois University) singled through the right side.


The Santa Maria Valley Packers scored one run off of zero hits and one error in the bottom of the third inning. They led 1-0. With one out in the fourth, Justin Crumply was hit by pitch. Kyle Wise singled putting runners at first and second. The Packers scored two more runs off of one hit in fourth inning. They extended their lead to 3-0. Pitcher Mike Massari (University of Redlands) came in the fifth inning and pitched two innings. He gave up three hits, one earned run, and one strike out. The Packers got a home run in the fifth inning extending their lead to 4-0. Trevor Elswick (College of the Canyons) pitched the seventh inning. He gave up two hits, two earned runs, two walks, and one strike out. The Packers scored two runs off of two hits in the seventh inning. One of the runs came off of a leadoff home run. This was the second day in a row that Packers player Chris Mallory (Fresno State) hit two home runs in a game. Alex Sammons (Saddleback College) pitched the eighth inning. He gave up one hit and one walk.
