THE RATTLERS PLAYED IN FRONT OF A SEASON HIGH CROWD Daniel Howell went 1-for-4 with two RBIs San Luis Obispo, CA (July 3, 2010) – The fireworks were there after the game, but the Rattlers were not showing them much with their bats during the game. Daniel Howell (Santa Barbara City College) had a two out double in the third inning scoring Thomas White (Santa Barbara City College) and Joe Etcheverry (Northern Illinois University). It gave the Rattlers a short 3-2 lead. They kept the lead until the top of the fifth inning when the Barons tied the game. The Barons scored the winning runs in the top of the seventh inning. The final score was 9-4 Barons. Zach Steele had two great diving catches Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) singled to right field to start off the bottom of the first inning and advanced to second. Zach Steele made a great diving catch in left field for the second out in the second inning. The Barons got two runs off of three hits and one error in the top of the third inning making the score 20 Barons. Chard Caraccioli (Santa Barbara City College) pitched five innings, gave up seven hits, three runs, two earned runs, and struck out two. Zach Steele (Cuesta College) was hit by a pitch to start off the bottom of the third inning and then Davey Schultz sacrificed him to second. Bobby Buckner (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) flied out to centerfield moving Zach Steele to third and he scored on a passed ball. Thomas White walked and Joe Etcheverry walked with two out. They moved to second and third on a passed ball. Daniel Howell had a two run double to left center scoring Thomas White and Joe Etcheverry. The Rattlers lead 3-2. The Rattlers turned a double play in the top of the fourth inning. Left fielder Zach Steele made a diving catch for the third out of the inning.


Scott Phillion (Central Michigan University) singled up the middle to start off the fourth inning. Then Zach Steele walked with one out, putting runners and first and second, but a double play did not help the Rattlers. The Barons scored another run in the top of the fifth inning tying the score at 5-5. Thomas White singled up the middle with one out in the fifth inning. The next batter, Joe Etcheverry, singled. Zach Steele doubled with two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. He went 1-for-2 with a run and a walk. The Academy Barons scored two runs off of three hits in the top of the seventh inning taking a 7-5 lead. Marc Damon (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) came in the sixth inning and pitched two innings. He gave up four hits, three earned runs, and stuck out one. Marc Damon got the loss for the Rattlers and is 1-2 on the season. The MLB Academy Barons scored four runs off of five hits in the top of the eighth inning. Pitcher Mike Massari (University of Redlands) came in the eighth inning with a runner on and gave up four hits, three earned runs, and stuck out one. Pitcher Alex Sammons (Saddleback College) pitched the top of the ninth inning and struck out two. Chris Laurtizen (Santa Barbara City College) singled to right field to start off the bottom of the ninth inning. Zach Steele reached on fielder’s choice and Chris Lauritzen moved to third on the error. Davey Schultz reached on a fielder’s choice scoring Chris Lauritzen.
