DANIEL HOWELL HIT TWO HOME RUNS TO HELP THE RATTLERS WIN, 10-2 The SLO Rattlers batters had nine walks Thousand Oaks, CA (July 31, 2010) – Daniel Howell came up to bat three times in the game and twice he hits home runs. The first one was a two run home run to left center. The second was a three run home run down the left field line. That was Daniel Howell’s fifth and sixth home runs. The SLO Rattlers have only two games left in the season and wanted to finish on a high note. The Rattlers scored ten runs in four innings. The Rattlers had twelve hits and scored two of the runs off a bases loaded hit by pitch and walk. The Conejo Oaks scored two runs one in the fourth and one in the sixth. The SLO Rattlers beat the Conejo Oaks 10-2. Jimmy Allen went 2-for-5 with a RBI and sac fly. Robert Vickers went 2-for-4 with two walks, stolen base, and three runs. Daniel Howell went 2-for-3 with five RBIs, two home runs, and two runs. Brett Wise went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, a stolen base, and a run.

Pitcher Kirk Fridrich (Kansas Wesleyan University) started for the Rattlers. He pitched six innings, gave up five hits, two earned runs, one walk, and two strike outs. He got the win for the Rattlers and is 3-2 on the season. Jimmy Allen (Rancho Buena Vista HS/Cal Poly SLO) singled through the left side to start off the game. Nigel Morton (Southwest Baptist) moved him to second on a ground out. Matt Anderson (Cuesta College) walked to start off the second inning. The next batter, Daniel Howell, (Santa Barbara City College) hit a two run home run to left center. With one out, Brett Wise (Feather River College) doubled to left field. Jimmy Allen singled to center field with two out putting runners at first and third. The Rattlers took a 2-0 lead.


Robert Vickers (College of the Canyons) walked to start off the third inning. Joe Etcheverry (Northern Illinois University) walked. Matt Anderson singled to centerfield loading the bases. Chris Hoo (Francis HS/Cal Poly SLO) was hit by a pitch with one out to get first run of the inning, Robert Vickers. With two out Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) walked to score Joe Etcheverry. The Rattlers led 4-0. Robert Vickers walked with one out in the fourth inning. Robert Vickers stole second with two out. Then Matt Anderson walked. Daniel Howell came up to bat and hit a three run home run down the left field line scoring Robert Vickers and Matt Anderson. The Rattlers lead 7-0. The Rattlers turned a double in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Conejo Oaks scored one run off of three hits. Brett Wise singled to right field to start off the fifth inning. He then stole second. Davey Schultz singled through the right side putting runners at first and third. Davey Schultz stole second and moved third on an error. Brett Wise scored. Jimmy Allen had a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Davey Schultz. With two out Robert Vickers singled to shortstop. Joe Etcheverry singled to left center putting runners at first and third. Matt Anderson reached first on an error scoring Robert Vickers. The Rattlers extended their lead to 10-1. Brett Wise walked with one out in the sixth inning. Davey Schultz reached on a fielder’s choice and moved second on an error. The Conejo Oaks scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning off of two hits. The Rattlers led 10-2. Nigel Morton singled through the left side to start off the seventh inning. Robert Vickers reached on a fielder’s choice. Joe Etcheverry reached first on an error. With two out Kyle Wise (Southwest Baptist) reached on a fielder’s choice. Trevor Elswick (College of the Canyons) pitched the seventh inning and gave up one hit. Brett Wise walked with one out in the eighth inning. Mike Massari (University of Redlands) pitched the bottom of the eighth inning and struck out one. Robert Vickers singled through the right side with one out in the ninth inning. Matt Anderson walked with two out putting runners at first and second. Jeff Johnson (Cal Poly SLO) pitched the ninth inning. He gave up one hit and struck out two.
