THE RATTLERS LOSE A CLOSE GAME Jimmy Allen went 1-for-4 Santa Barbara, CA (June 25, 2010) – The Rattlers gave up one run in the bottom of the first with two outs. They were not able to come back and win. The SLO Rattlers pitched seven shutout innings and only gave up five hits. The defense did not commit an error. This is the second game this year that the Rattlers did not commit an error. The Rattlers lost 1-0. Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) walked to start off the game, but a double play did not help the Rattlers. Davey Schultz went 1-for-3 with a walk Brandon Lee (Cornell University) caught a runner trying to steal second for the second out of the bottom of the first inning. The Foresters got the only run of the game with two outs and the bases loaded. Chris Lauritzen (Santa Barbara City College) walked with one out in the third. Davey Schultz singled up the middle with two out, putting runners at first and second. They Rattlers were not able to score in the inning. Pitcher Richie Mirowski (Oklahoma Baptist) caught a runner trying to steal second for the first out of the fourth inning. He went five innings, gave up five hits, one earned run, four walks, and six strikeouts. He is 0-1 on the season. DJ Gunderson (Santa Barbara City College) came in the sixth inning and pitched two innings. He did not give up a hit, gave up a walk, and struck out three. Jimmy Allen (Rancho Buena Vista HS/Cal Poly SLO) singled to the left field to start off the top of the seventh inning. He advanced to second on a wild pitch. The Ratters batters were not able to move him over.
