FOR THE SECOND DAY IN A ROW THE RATTLERS PLAYED ERRORLESS BALL Joe Etcheverry went 2-for-4 with a RBI, run, and a walk Santa Barbara, CA (June 26, 2010) – The Rattlers played great errorless ball. The pitching gave up five runs in three innings. Six Rattlers players had at least one hit. Sadly, the San Luis Obispo Rattlers lost 5-3 to the Santa Barbara Foresters. The Foresters scored three runs off of two home runs in the bottom of the first inning. Pitcher Chad Caraccioli (Santa Barbara City College) got his fourth start. He went four innings, gave up five hits, three earned runs, and one walk. Chad Caraccioli is 2-3 on the season. Matt Anderson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk Joe Etcheverry (Northern Illinois University) walked to start off the top of the second inning. Robert Vickers (College of the Canyons) walked with one out. Then Joe Etcheverry stole third base. Matt Anderson (Cuesta College) walked to load the bases, but two strike outs did not help the Rattlers. The Foresters had two outs and a runner at second in the second inning. The batter lined out to second and the Rattlers were able to get the base runner at second out. In the third inning, Thomas White (Santa Barbara City College) threw out the runner trying to steal second for the second out. Nigel Morton (Southwest Baptist) was hit by a pitch with one out in the fourth inning. He then stole second. Nigel Morton moved to third on a groundout. A Foresters batter was caught trying to steal third by catcher Thomas White in the fifth inning. The Foresters scored one run off of two hits. Michael Nielebeck (Cuesta College) came in the fifth inning and pitched three innings. He gave up four hits, two earned runs, one walk, and struck out three.
Thomas White singled to right field with one out in the top of the sixth inning. The Joe Etcheverry singled. Then Robert Vickers singled to load the bases. Matt Anderson singled scoring Thomas White and Joe Etcheverry. A passed ball moved Matt Anderson to second and Robert Vickers to third. The Foresters led 4-2. Jimmy Allen (Rancho Buena Vista HS/Cal Poly SLO) singled to right field to start off the top of the seventh inning. Bobby Buckner (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) walked with one out, putting runners at first and second. The Rattlers were not able to score in the inning. Matt Anderson singled to right field with two outs in the eighth inning. The Foresters scored another run in the bottom of the eighth inning making the score 5-2. DJ Gunderson (Santa Barbara City College) came in the bottom of the eighth inning to shut down the Foresters. He pitched an inning giving up a walk. Jimmy Allen reach first on an error to start off the top of the ninth inning. Davey Schultz (Cuesta College) singled. Jimmy Allen advanced to third on a second out fly out to center field. Joe Etcheverry singled to left center scoring Jimmy Allen. His single put runners at first and third. The Rattlers did not score another run the inning.
