SLO RATTLERS WIN WITH A WALK OFF HIT The Rattlers’ are 3-0 on the season and sweep the Cal Poly Club Team. San Luis Obispo, CA (June 3, 2010) – In the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs, the Rattlers rallied to win the baseball game and sweep the Cal Poly Club Team. Scott Phillion singled in the go ahead run. He went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Chad Caraccioli got the start for the Rattlers in the third game of the series. He sat the first five batters down in order and struck out 2 batters in three innings of work. In the third inning the Rattlers bats came alive. David Schultz and TJ Filica singled to start the inning. Thomas White doubled scoring both runners. Brandon Lee walked and Joe Etchevery singled loading the bases with no one out. Scott Phillion singled scoring Brandon Lee. Joe Etcheverry scored on a passed ball for the last run of the inning. In the top of the fourth inning the Cal Poly Club scored three runs. David Schultz was able to score in the fourth inning without a hit. He walked, stole second, moved to third on a groundout, and scored on a wild pitch. Michael Nielbeck had three strikeouts and Todd Simko had two strikeouts in critical points.
Brandon Lee went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs, and scored the winning run.
The Cal Poly Club was able get three runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead with the help of an error. Douglas Gunderson came in with two out in the top of the eighth inning to shut down the Cal Poly Club Team. He had two strikeouts in an inning and a third and got the win. In the bottom of the ninth with two outs Thomas White was hit by a pitch, Brandon Lee singled, and Justin Crumpley singled to load the bases. Brett Wise came to the plate to make up for his mistake in the field in the inning before. He singled scoring Thomas White to tie the game. Then, Scott Phillion came up and singled in the winning run. Brett Wise went 1-for-2 with a RBI. ###
