THE SLO RATTLERS PLAY THEIR FIRST EXTRA INNING GAME OF THE SEASON The SLO Rattlers turned their first double play of the season. San Luis Obispo, CA (June 5, 2010) – Kirk Fridrich got the start for the Rattlers. He struck out three of the four batters he faced in the first inning. Kirk Fridrich went five innings striking out five, gave up five hits, and one unearned run. In the bottom of the first inning David Schultz walked, advanced to second on a balk with no one out, he then moved to third on a fly out. That was all the Rattlers were able to threaten in the first inning. The 3rd baseman Robert Vickers made a great play in the top of the third inning to get the second out. He also made another play to end the top of the fifth inning. David Schultz made a great running catch in right center Kirk Fridrich got his second start of the season field for the third out in the third inning. In the bottom of the third inning Nigel Morton singled and stole second base with one out. He then advanced to third on a passed ball with two outs. The shortstop, Nigel Morton, made a great play deep in the hole to throw out the runner out for the second out in the fourth inning. David Schultz and Nigel Morton both singled in the bottom of the fifth inning with one out. In the top of the seventh inning the Rattlers were able to turn their first double play of the season. Bobby Buckner and David Schultz reached first on errors with one out. Then they advanced to second and third on a groundout. Thomas White then singled in the two runners for the Rattlers two runs of the game. In the eighth inning 2nd baseman Bobby Buckner made a great play on the edge of the outfield grass to throw the runner out at first for the third out of the game. Matt Anderson singled and Bobby Buckner bunted him over. David Schultz was intentionally walked. Then both runners advanced to second and third on an out. The Rattlers were not able to score in the inning. The Conejo Oaks scored their other runs in the sixth and tenth innings. ###
