Tennis Tigers compete at USTA/ITA Northern California JC Regional Tournament Cherie Smith Sports Editor Reedley College’s Women’s and Men’s Tennis teams competed at the USTA/ITA Northern California JC Regional Tournament at Santa Rosa Junior College on September 21-23. The tournament featured some of the best junior college players in Northern California. Alisha Kennedy won her quarterfinal round 6-0 and 6-2 in singles. She was eliminated in the semifinal round by the eventual winner from Sierra College, who was ranked number one in the tournament. Bailey Wisley was ranked sixth in the women’s singles tournament. She won the quarterfinal round 6-4 and 6-1, but lost in the semifinal round. Jennifer Frauenhelin was eliminated in the quarterfinal round of the singles. Justin Yang, Amtoj Sanghera, and Colin Cyher all played in the men’s singles tournament. Kennedy and Ashley Valdez played doubles and lost in the semifinal round to the number one team and eventual winner of the women’s doubles. Frauenhelin and Wisley were ranked number two in the women’s doubles. They won the quarterfinal round 8-1 and the semifinal round 8-4. In the final round they lost to the number one team in the tournament from Sierra College. Sanggera and Yang competed in the men’s doubles tournament and lost the in the round of 32. Reedley College’s Women’s and Men’s tennis season start spring 2013.
