"To Infinity and Beyond" is the concept for my portfolio that reflects my philosophy of "art is limitless"; in which artists are capable to create infinite creations through their creativity and imagination. All the works that I will include in this portfolio is going to represent my journey as a design student that will never stop learning and exploring. The overall feeling of muted yet whimsical design aesthetic will be incorporated to the design of my portfolio to convey the concept.

Mariotto Residence is a residential project, comissioned by the client, Ernest Mariotto. It is a three-story house that will be occupied by three different members of Mariotto family. The house is located at 13 Wood Street, San Francisco, California. In this project, the client wants the designer to redesign the whole unit with three different concepts for each floor, that will represent each family member's aesthetic preference and needs.

GARDEN UNIT

CHERLENITA FNU / MARIOTTO RESIDENCE

Pop Art is an art movement that emerged during the late 1950s in the United States and characterized by the imagery of consumerism and popular culture, as the challenge of fine art traditions. It later became a popular style in many art forms, including painting and sculpture. The Pop Art concept is going to be applied on the garden unit of Mariotto Residence project. Just like the characteristics of Pop Art painting, the garden unit will be designed in a mix of bold, contemporary look with a touch of vibrant color, in order to create an inspiring and comfortable space for the client. Furthermore, the abstract and chic style of Pop Art will also be added to the design to allow the client experiencing freedom and creativity in the space.

GARAGE

The Garden Unit of Mariotto Residence is designed in a mix of bold, pop out colors with the contrast of abstract black & white elements throughout the space. The cold hard materials, such as: marbles and tiles, will be balanced out by the warm and colorful details and accent from the fabric of the furnitures. and colorful LED lightings.

Chiaroscuro is a Reinassance painting technique of using strong contrasts between light and dark, that affects the whole composition. It is an effect that created by light falling unevenly or from a particular direction, in order to create a sense of volume in three-dimensional objects. Just like the chiaroscuro technique that is used by the artist to focus on a certain part of the picture, the lower unit of Mariotto Residence project will be designed in a straight-forward design with strong contrasts of color, texture and lighting. The simplicity of the space with the elimination of unnecessary elements will be the main key to design a unit for the main client, Ernest Mariotto. Furthermore, the combination of clean sharp edge and monochromatic colors will be incorporated to the design in order to create a space that allow the client to do creative thinking and which comfort is not a priority.

Craquelure is the fine pattern of dense cracking formed on the surface of material, usually on oil painting or ceramic. Craquelure is formed either as a part of aging or of its original production. Just like craquelure that shows authenticity of an art piece and shows the beauty through aging process, the upper unit of Mariotto Residence will be designed to maintain its aethetic value as the time passes by. Inspired by the history of the Mariotto house that has been passed down from one generation to the next, the upper unit will show the authenticity of Mariotto Residences initial design with an eclectic touch of contemporary and vintage looks. The unfinished surface with warm and vibrant-earthy color will also be incorporated in order to create a welcoming and comfortable space for the main client's sister and brother-in-law, a married couple who regularly invite guests to come over.

The Upper Unit of Mariotto Residence is designed in a more warm and inviting atmosphere, compares to the other units of the house. The heritage value of the house is purposedly to be remained at this unit, in order to give a more sentimental touch to the overall design of the house, while it ages along with the members of Mariotto family .

Urbano Kitchen is a commercial project, comissioned by the client, Tony Riviera. It is semester group project with my partner, Ebelia Malikasim, in which we were required to work together as a team. Urbano Kitchen is a food market project that will also have a restaurant and open prepared food area. The building is located at 185 Channel Street, San Francisco, California, particulary is at the lower retail unit of Channel Apartment. In this project, the client wants the designer to design a space that represents the upscale, high quality yet affordable brand.

RESTAURANT PERSPECTIVE

CHERLENITA FNU / URBANO KITCHEN

URBANO KITCHEN appears in the middle of the community as a brand that offers the highest quality natural products to the customers while disguising oursevles in an upscale yet approachable packaging. The camouflage of the urban lifestyle that resembles the modern society becomes our main concept in bringing the most essential ingredients from the nature to our valued customers. In our design execution, the overall principle of sustainable and organic will be concealed by the classy and luxurious look of the material choices and design elements.

The column central piece in the restaurant area is the main feature of Urbano Kitchen design. It is the application of the camouflage concept, in which the column is made out of the stacks of reclaimed wood painted in white that are arranged in particular different angle. The design is inspired by the complexity of urban lifestyle that creates an interesting WOOD PANEL

pattern in the society. The column is also intended to attract the customers from outside as well as to convey the brand identity of Urbano Kitchen.

The Catalyst Hotel is a senior year hospitality project that is located at 135 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, California. For this project, I am required to redesign a whole complex area of two separate buildings in the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and Hayes Street neighborhoods into a hotel, including the courtyard area in the middle.

[Noun] A substance that increases the rate of a (chemical) reaction without itself undergo-

ing any permanent change. "The Catalyst is a boutique hotel brand that comes in the middle of a mixed culture of San Francisco as a catalyst to the development process (chemical reaction) of the city, in a form of unique and highly sophisticated identity. Located at 135 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, the Catalyst Hotel will bring the customers an unusual staying experience by carrying a mix of geometric and organic elements, upon the underlying structures, into the space."
