HAIR / MAKEUP Due to the nature of boudoir photography, all photo
sessions include make up and hair, and is required. It is just fine to choose a more natural look if you don't prefer glamming up.
INSPIRATION There are so many ways to find inspiration for
makeup and hair looks! Some ladies like to look at their favorite celebrities on the red carpet, and some prefer to have a more natural, dewy glow. Either one is perfect. Pin up red lips, and winged liner to Dita Von Teese your way through your session, or a subtle Grecian goddess - all are perfect places to find inspiration! Which ever direction you choose, Pinterest will be your best friend. You can even check out Cherry Tree Boudoir's Pinterest to see inspiration for your photo shoot!

The primary makeup artist that I use at Cherry Tree Boudoir is Courtney Lynde, owner extraordinaire at Beauty Lounge Salon & Boutique in Sioux Falls, SD. She has many years of experience, not only with makeup and making sure that its applied perfectly, but with makeup perfected for photography. Courtney loves to focus on celeb-level makeup application with her very own blended custom cosmetics. (Be sure to ask her about this while you're in her chair!) Sami Jo will frequently play hair if it isn't Courtney! I trust both of them

Picking out lingerie seems to be one of the hardest parts of getting ready for your very own boudoir photoshoot. Finding lingerie that you adore and can't wait to put on is one of the most exciting parts of being a woman...not to mention getting ready for your boudoir session! My recommendation is, as always, that you choose from at least TWO of the three categories (Racy, Sweet, & Spicy) when choosing your boudoir wardrobe for your own session. Don't forget staples such as a proper bra, sexy tights, and nipple petals. I always recommend a body suit of some kind, and a robe of some type. A bra & pantie set is not my recommendation unless your stomach is one of your favorite parts of yourself, however, paired with a robe or mens button up shirt look awesome! One other thing -- if you're doing this as a gift -- don't fall into the "it's his favorite" trap. Who cares if it's "his favorite." Find something that will become YOUR favorite. Even if you think this is a gift, this is and will always be FOR YOU. Check out the wardrobe guide on my blog for more ideas on your boudoir wardrobe! Your boudoir session is your opportunity to be completely yourself. Explore who she is and who she wants to be.

Posing Your job is not to worry about posing. All you need to do is show up. You should think of me as your modeling coach. The good news is that no practices need to be held. You, of course, are more than welcome to come with a Pinterest board of poses you love in hand if there is a specific pose that you want to try out. I love to play around! Your job is to listen to my easy instructions such as "chin down a little," "look down a bit," "and move your left shoulder down a little." They're all easy and super fun! You may feel silly at first, but I will always capture you in the most flattering poses. I will also create a lighting environment to make sure that every sexy curve is captured. All of the women you see on my portfolio are first timers, not models! Seriously, all you have to do is be present and be in the moment.

TO THE DAY OF YOUR PHOTO SHOOT Photo sessions are held Monday -- Friday and start before 10 am. You will go to Beauty Lounge and meet with Courtney and show her your inspiration. Just show her a picture on your phone or pull up your Pinterest app -- yes, she is that good! Through out your makeup appointment, she will confirm that you're still liking what you are seeing. She can glam it up, or dial it back if you are feeling a little "out of your skin". I promise you that when you're done you will absolutely LOVE your look. After your makeup and hair appointment is finished you will hop in your car and head over to my home studio. You and I will go over your wardrobe choices that you've brought and we will pick out our favorites. Typically your first outfit should be the one that you're most comfortable in. This is a great way to shake out the nerves -- it is NORMAL to be nervous, especially if you're a first timer. Almost everyone is nervous up until I start showing them how amazing they look on the back of my camera! Don't worry, you won't have to wait to see how amazing you look, I'll be bragging the whole day about how beautiful my model is! We will start with some easy poses to get you warmed up. Remember, your job is just to show up with an open mind and ready to

WHAT TO EXPECT BEF0RE & AFTER
TIMELINE OF EVENTS - APPROX 6 HOURS A makeup and hair appointment will be made for you. The time will be communicated to you when you have paid your session retainer and we have matched your availability with Courtney, your make up artist. - Approx. 1-1.5 hours Your photoshoot will take place at my home studio. - Approx. 1.5-2 hours. You will take an intermission following your photo shoot. Feel free to head up to the local bar, or head over to the next town to grab a bite to eat, or just hang out and scroll on your phone or read a book. - Approx. 1 hour. You will return after to reveal your photos and make your final selection of packages. This is when you will agree to your payment plan if required. - Approx. 1 hour.
TURN AROUND TIME
Your artwork will be ready for delivery in no later than 3 weeks. If you have a deadline for your artwork (oops, anniversary or birthday is coming up QUICK, last minute decision for your hubby/wife to be, etc) let me know ahead of time, and I will try to make it happen for you! Rush order fees apply for deadlines less than 3 weeks. Thanks for understanding!

WHY ITS A GOOD THING: Many times women are under the impression that every woman I photograph is born with an innate talent for modeling, just happen to be very photogenic, and/or are already completely confident and happy with their bodies. This is not the case. Many, many times, I have heard the these are similar responses from very different women -There isn't enough Photoshop to make me look like that. Maybe if I lost __ lbs, I could do a photo shoot. I just can't justify spending money for something "like this". I don't have a husband/wife/significant other to give these to / I'm not getting married. I want to take a minute to dispel that last statement before I go any further. You don't need an excuse to have a boudoir session. There doesn't need to be a "reason" to have a session. The reason is because you want one, and at its root, that is the only reason to have a session. The truth is that these women are all the ideal person to benefit from a professional boudoir photography session. I’ve spent some time recently nailing down who my ideal client is and (spoiler alert) she’s not every one. She commands authority both in her career and personal life, values travel, experiences, art and live music and she invests in herself because she knows her worth, even if she is insecure. She is not unsure of herself even if she isn’t in love with her body. Why am I telling you this? Because if you're not her now (and you may never enjoy live music or museums) you could be a version of her eventually if that's what you want. A boudoir photo session will completely change how you see yourself.

The woman at the beginning of this article is Amanda, who loved her session and images so much that she agreed to let you see the magic behind professional photography. The reason that these photos are important isn't because Amanda was not beautiful before I took her photos -because she is a beautiful woman, plain as day -- but because untouched pictures do not capture beauty like an eye does. It dulls our lip colors, accentuates shadows, and encourages our brains to notice red marks and wrinkles on the face or skin. However, a professional photographer can create artwork that allows our brains to see the final images more similarly to how our eyes see, already compensating for those kinds of things when we are standing with the person who is the subject of the photograph (Instagram filters suddenly make more sense don't they!). And lets be honest, false eyelashes and gorgeous lipstick is SO sexy!
Notice that in the untouched, original photo on top, Amanda's hair is duller, her face shadowier, her lips and eyebrows have nearly disappeared, and there are red blemish spots on her chin and the back of her heel. The photo itself just doesn't seem "done", even though it was taken with an incredible high resolution professional camera. There is more to it than just pushing a button and standing in the right place! I will make sure that your skin is flawless, and that you look the absolute best version of yourself. That being said, I don't do whats called "body contouring, or body reshaping". Yes, the computer program that I use to edit your artwork does come equipped with capabilities to completely reshape models. That is not the way to remember your life. You don't need body reshaping. Do it now. The camera will not add 10 lbs and losing 10 lbs will not change your photos. If you do lose a significant amount of weight or reach a fitness goal, join the mile high club and have another photo shoot to document the gorgeous person you were, and the amazing journey that you're experiencing then. There is literally not a better time to document your current self. Do it for the 80 year old you of the future. Remember your tattoos how they look now. Enjoy your life. Experience it with vigor. You will not regret doing this. You deserve a pamper filled day, where you can leave feeling like a million bucks at some point in your life. This is a gift to and for yourself. While you may choose to give these images to a significant someone, you will be the one who gets the true benefit.

Great things take time. If you need time, we're on your side. No interest, no credit check, simple breakdown plans. You will agree to your payment plan when you choose your packages and artwork at your reveal/ordering session. Payment plans can be applied to retainers, packages, boudoir parties, artwork....pretty much everything that is offered at Cherry Tree Boudoir can be put on a payment plan. When applying a payment plan to a retainer it is important to note that while making payments no specific date is reserved. A date may be reserved upon finishing your payment plan. Payment plans on boudoir parties will be similar to individual sessions. Please contact me for more information about pricing of boudoir parties if you're interested in becoming a hostess! You can tailor your privacy settings to be faceless, in person only (not online, ever), just my website/no social media, or a full release. You will be able to say exactly which images are showcased to others who are interested in a session and in my general marketing materials.

Q: When do I pick a package? A: You won't choose a package until you have seen your images after your shoot.
Q: I'm not really "into" lingerie... can I still do boudoir? A: Of course! Lingerie is not the only thing that makes a woman feel sexy. You can do a boudoir shoot in a dress, robe, sports jersey, use your imagination -- whatever feels right. Wardrobe and posing are two of the most important components of beautiful boudoir photos. Check out pages 10 & 11 for information on choosing your wardrobe!
Q: I’m not sure if I can afford or justify spending the money on myself. A: That’s understandable, and the main concern that clients express to me. That’s why I offer a no interest payment plan to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy this experience. You receive so much more than just photos -- the experience, pampering, and confidence boost is something every woman needs to see to believe. Checkout page 27 for information on payment plans!
Q: What if I don’t like my images? A: I am very confident that you will be completely inspired and in love with your images. However, if you are truly unhappy you can choose to decline purchasing any prints, albums, or artwork. You will have an incredible day, and you're not committed to a package until after you've seen and chosen your images.
Q: Can I just receive digital copies of my images? A: Digital images are only given to clients who choose the Prime & Twilight packages.
Q: I’m not comfortable sharing my images with strangers or online. Do I have to? A: No,you are in complete control of your images. You can literally select the exact photos that I am allowed to use online or in person as examples, if any. Check out page 28 for more information about sharing your photos with me!
Q: What about my [insert insecurity here]? A: Clients are sometimes insecure that now isn't the "right time" for their boudoir photos. Retouching photos is always included with your session, but at Cherry Tree Boudoir we are all about building confidence and celebrating sexy. We will work together to find poses that work for you to make you feel comfortable and prove to you that you are confident and gorgeous. Q: Can I bring someone along with me to my shoot? A: Heck yeah, but girl friends only! If you have a friend who is interested in having her own photoshoot too, we can schedule a party, contact me for details.
