Getting ‘Crayative’
Cherubs caught up with supermum, Lauren from BeeCrayative Crayons to see how she started a business in the middle of a pandemic and while she was on maternity leave. You see... we told you she was a superwoman!
How did you come up with beecrayative?
Well I had just had my second baby and thought, life isn’t stressful enough looking after a toddler, a newborn and a husband in the middle of a pandemic lockdown, that I thought it would be a great idea to start up my own business.
Only joking but it is partly true. I had the idea of making my daughter’s little friends some gifts during the April lockdown in 2020. I started playing around making beeswax crayons and loved it so much that I thought I am going to make this into a business. Maybe it was the hormones because I do look back and think I was crazy but I would not change it for the world.
Lone behold BeeCrayative Crayons was born and I have never looked back. It is hard work especially having gone back to my day job along with looking after my family and running a household but I LOVE it!
What makes you different from all of the other crayon businesses out there?
They are the only character crayons on the market that are made with beeswax. This sets them apart from other crayons because they are more natural and not just made with non toxic waxes, it also makes them smell amazing.
So, your maternity leave has finished, what’s the plan now?
I have indeed returned to my day job but, BeeCrayative is not going anywhere. I have poured my heart and soul into creating my business, its like my third baby! I absolutely love making crayons for your little ones. They were created for loving little hands. To put smiles on their faces when they open them and realise that they aren’t just toys but you can colour with them too and I hope to continue to keep making them for a very long time.
I want to teach my children that ANYTHING is possible, when you put your mind to it. Look what you can achieve in the middle of a pandemic.
