C.H. Guenther Women’s History Month Spotlight
L ori Reynolds Team Leader I, Lenexa General Manufacturing
Question 1 What does it mean to you to be a woman in manufacturing today?
Working in manufacturing gives me pride in what I do. Especially in the relationships I have built and the respect I’ve worked for not only from my superiors but from the wonderful teams I get to work with every day.
Question 2 Share with us your BEST memory in manufacturing. Any time I have influenced an employee to do better and to be a part of an amazing team delivering results in a positive way. Makes me smile!
Question 3 What is your greatest hope for women in manufacturing for the future?
I hope women have more opportunity to rise in the industry than was afforded 5-10 years ago. Women have been noted to pay greater attention to detail and have a unique approach to problem solving. They can and will be a true asset to any worthy leader and company.
Question 4 Would you refer your female friends/family to work in manufacturing sector?
Without a doubt. Provided you are lucky enough to get amazing leaders/mentors like I have had over the years. Women can learn, grow, build great relationships while making great money. With strength, hard work, focus and desire there are limitless opportunities. You just need to recognize and go after them. I have been fortunate to be given opportunities in areas I was interested in. These opportunities grew my knowledge and expertise not only in Operations but Supply Chain as well. It’s there if you want it!
Question 5 Share challenges you faced and how you overcame them during your tenure with the company.
Over my 30 years in the industry, the most difficult challenges were encountering those that felt this field is no place for women. Going from an AP clerk to managing 8 production facilities and 7 mixing centers I guess I may have found my place (smiling)! Challenges have been few here @ C.H. Guenther. I have been blessed with leaders like Ben Myers that are good communicators and show respect readily when deserved. I love getting up and coming to work each day!
