Not even the time to go into the house, that... driiin!
When he arrived, he was greeted by a grunt. His uncle was more grumpy than usual: he repeated the same complaints, which now filled the room buzzing around.
Oh, my legs are sore! What a rough night I had! And nobody ever comes to see me!
Ottavio began to listen to those complaints with patience, while Alfredo, after many years of illness, was not able to listen to anyone anymore.
A couple of hours later he was back, visibly tried.
Giovanna felt much better and thanked him from the heart!
Ottavio was as thin as he was happy for her, greeted her and promised that he would return to visit them.

We entered [the camp] almost in the dark, there were thousands of American soldiers, it was the first time I saw them. As soon as the Americans saw us, they started to throw in our direction clothes, shoes, chocolate, cigarettes. Everyone rushed to be able to catch something, who on food, who on clothing. I was lucky, I managed to get a sweater and a shirt. Then I drew back as a series of fights began, shoves, punches, slaps, everything flew in that chaos. They fought like lions, hunger and cold make even the most civilized man an animal.
