THE DIFFICULT WALL 2017 Special mention - Europan14

With: Andrea Alberto Dutto, Andrea Giordano, Andrea Aliangena The project face the topic of the competition Europan14 productive city considering different expressions of contemporary production. The competition site is the former fuel depot of the Montezemolo barrack in Cuneo. The site is in a strategic position, between three different neighbourhood and inserted on the main axis of the city. The building facing Corso Francia is now redeveloped and incorporated in a more complex cultural centre. The main access to the area is through a porch, that is an important architectural element in the city of Cuneo, interface between economic and social life. The ex-depot became a place for workshops and related expo spaces. The only one new building host a fablab; while the last building on via Giordanengo is converted in a local daily market. A covered trail links all the different spaces of the area, at the same time the free and chaotic garden becomes the connective fabric of the different activity that you can find in the area; A garden where you can lose yourself and discover different attractions.

Cultural Centre It is the main access to the area and it translates the production in a cultural meaning. A new public square for events, conference rooms and a new auditorium. It can be an independent part of the area. Workshops The former depot is recovered with new productive units of different dimensions. Every unit is composed by a storage area, a production area and an exposition one. The latest one extends with some pavilion located in the park. Fablab A new building gives dignity e the occasion to expose the new technological and digital production. Local Market It is the access by the residential neighbourhood. The market is a place of production, even in a social meaning: a place of exchange and where people can meet. A covered trail can be used for fair and temporary exhibition.

POLIGROUND 2017 Master thesis 110/110 with honours and pubblication With: Silvia Favaro

The project integrates in the debate on the architectural response on climate change and in the first phase calculate the environmental impact of the main campus of the Politecnico di Torino by the evaluation of its ecological footprint. The project focus on the renovation of outdoor spaces of the campus as they can be possible place for experimentation on sustainable design and awareness of users. We decided to work on outdoor spaces because of their several qualities; open spaces can be performing and educational at the same time, they are the “stage of everyday life, but also location for collective events and sharing. The project designs connection spaces and rest ones creating a better sense of identity and trying to involve users. The result is a catalogue of possible intervention; they can be read as single possibilities or in different configuration. At the end it is possible to distinguish different layer of intervention, six are linked to the categories of the ecological footprint (energy, water, transport, use of land, waste and food) and one is about the importance of creating renovated quality spaces.

H om E 2016 University project

Tutors: M. Robiglio, S. Corgnati, I. Lami The design unit treats the reuse of the bob track built in 2006 for the Olympic games in Cesana Torinese and that now is abandoned. The project H om E designs a touristic complex that links oriental disciples and the natural mountain environment. The bob track becomes the distribution path of the new complex. It can be run only on foot and conducts users at the different type of accommodation and the linked facilities. The project reuses the existing buildings for free time activities and built a new hotel in the arrival area and 4 clusters of single apartments located beside the path. The cluster are organized as alpine villages: single units are grouped around a common space, that in that case is used for group activities or moment of sharing. In the design unit I also conduct a depth research on energy and economic sustainability of the intervention. The buildings are powered by only electric energy, trying to reduce the withdraw on the public grid.

PLAYLINE 2016

Finalist project in Archmedium international competition With: Pasquale Giordano, Luca Naso e Matteo Murat The project consists of the redevelopment of the area of the pier, preserving its flexibility. We decided not to build on the pier and leave it as a public park or equipped for fairs, festivals, concert, .... The cultural center, playgrounds and linked activities are built on several modular rafts. In that way the project becomes more resilient because it can be extended or reduced with the addition or the subtraction of some raft. Buildings have standardized high to allow the passage from a raft to another. At the end a red boardwalk surrounds the pier preserving it and creating different perspective of the complex as well as the access to the rafts.

AM#5:Paraloup 03.2016 | 09.2016 International workshop

Atelier Mobile: Luca Barello, Sara Ambrosoli, Paolo Cavallo, Paolo Golinelli, Luca Malvicino, Beatrice Gamba, Niccolò Suraci Atelier Mobile is a traveling design laboratory that promote the specific site learning by workshop organized in design and realization of architectural installations. In the first phase of the workshop we developed a constructive system that should be easy to assemble and disassemble, easy to transport e that could be assembled in different configuration. We created different prototypes and chose the better solution and started the second phase: the realization of three installation in Paraloup (an old partisan village in Alps). The constructions (all made with the same constructive system) are stages of an outdoor museum, a path through the village, the surrounding wood and the memory of the partisan resistance. Every installation was designed directly in the place, in relation with the surrounding landscape. Every stage of the path has an information totem and some seats for looking at the mountain landscape; so that it is possible to define them as windows on the landscape and on the memory.
