The project area, former Thyssen-Ilva area, is located in the municipality of Turin, between district 4 and 5. It is characterized by the presence of a stretch of the river Dora and by an important difference in height. The redevelopment project was entirely developed around the public space and the “showcase” of the city, created by temporary exhibitions of artists.

CONCEPT State of fact: presence of the former Ex Thyssen-Ilva plant.

Project proposal: maintenance of the pillars as an historical industrial memory of the area.

Project proposal: the entire plant was oriented to have a larger surface exposed to the west and east.

Project proposal: to “break” the rigidity of the plant, a central street has been inserted with curvilinear forms, the public space.

Project proposal: The pillars have been kept inside the public spaces created by “breaking” some of the gods cuts. 10

The project involves the redevelopment of one of the most important and popular streets of the barrio of Benimaclet in Valencia, calle Murta. The project has as its subject the market place.

In the square there is a church, some shops and a pub. There is a walled fenced-off fountain surrounded by low vegetation and a palm tree. On Friday all this area is occupied by the famous Benimaclet market.

The road continues to be pedestrian and full of locals until the intersection with a driveway. After this limit the space for the pedestrian is reduced to a minimum.

First of all, the space was set up with colored sheets that could accommodate the thoughts, in the form of TAGs, of those who live in this space ...

This thesis research seeks a new methodology of action based on collaboration between administrations and the local community, led by the architect, with a view to defining processes capable of reactivating space thanks to the people who live there. At the end of the theoretical research, a process for the reactivation of the port area of â&#x20AC;&#x2039;â&#x20AC;&#x2039;the city of Valencia was outlined.
