As a voluntary organization our aim is to represent and advocate for our members and the business community as a whole.

BELLE FOURCHE HISTORY
LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR
WHAT?? BELLE FOURCHE HAD A BRICK FACTORY – OH YES!
- How did Belle Fourche come to have a brick factory? It came to pass when the area farmers began growing sugar beets and realized the next step would be to process those beets into sugar. A reburnished factory was purchased by U & I Sugar and needed a building. So Hans Quarnberg, local businessman, who had discovered excellent clay for making bricks while digging his water pipe line to create electricity for his flour mill made the deal to provide the bricks. This factory operated for many years from 1927 until 1977 when its sister plant in Hebron Nebraska took over production. The Black Hills Clay Products also built several homes on Jackson St to demonstrate their various brick styles for homes. Another downtown feature in Belle Fourche during the 1930 & 40’s was the Don Pratt Hotel was also built for the local bricks.
Eight weeks has flown by so quickly. I am back to work full-time and ready to hit the ground running. While I have been away from the office I have not stopped working on making improvements to the Chamber. We now have a few new things for our members. 1) Member to Member Discount Card- We are putting together a discount card for our membership benefits. Please see the enclosed form fill out and return to me at your earliest convenience. We really want to offer this benefit to all our members. 2) Center of the Nation Trademark- We have been asked by several businesses if they can use the Center of the Nation Trademark for their business. We are excited to announce that we have made a agreement for our local businesses to review and sign if they would like to use the trademark. Please email me at director@bellefourchechamber.org for more information. 3) Center of the Nation Foundation- The Chamber of Commerce is working on getting a foundation created under the Chamber so we can apply for grant money. This grant money will be used to help lower the membership fees, event expenses, tourism, and education opportunities for our community.
