Chicone Cabinetmakers Custom Kitchens

About Us Chicone Cabinetmakers is a boutique cabinet shop nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes region—an area that teems with native hardwoods. The natural beauty of the landscape has inspired three generations of Chicone craftsmen. We are a family-owned business that has been serving the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic for over 60 years.

Custom Cabinets

by Chicone Cabinetmakers At Chicone Cabinetmakers, our woodworkers provide you with the highest quality custom kitchen cabinets available. We work with native hardwoods and when possible, handpick the trees for your project while they still stand in the woods. You will notice the attention to detail that only three generations of cabinetmakers can achieve.

Chicone Cabinetmakers works directly with you, there are no middlemen and no dealers. Each piece of work we do is custom made for you, by us—start to finish with our hands. We offer a range of period styles and designs from the sleek lines of a contemporary European kitchen, to the kitsch of a cottage kitchen, to the authenticity of a period home. See our portfolio for a sampling of our work.

Getting Started

A few considerations...

Building a new kitchen can be overwhelming—equal parts excitement and confusion. You may have been archiving your favorite designs on Pinterest, or have a folder overflowing with clippings and now is the time to make your dream a reality—but you have no idea how to start.

• Our lead-time runs approximately 10-12 weeks after final design approval, this is a general estimate so please contact us for our most up to time line.

We can ease this process by walking you through the steps, letting you concentrate on the excitement while we remove the confusion. Drop us an e-mail or give us a call and we will be happy to discuss your project with you.

• All of our kitchens are custom; made directly for you by us so they are not average in cost or quality. To offer a general sense of costing our cabinetry for most kitchens ranges from $25,000 to $40,000 and this does not include counter tops, appliances, or installation. It is not uncommon for clients to invest two to three times that depending on the scope and scale of the project.

There are few things you can do to speed up the process...

• Sketch out your room, including windows, doors, and any other architectural elements. • Start in one corner and begin measuring around your room, provide a measurement to the first thing in your sketch and then move on to the next (when measuring doors and windows be sure to measure from the outside edge of the casing—the trim around your doors and windows). Use a steel tape measure to get the most accurate measurements. • Check your work by adding up the measurements along each wall—this measurement should equal the overall length of the wall. • Next take a floor to ceiling height in each corner of your room—this doesn’t have to happen tight to your corner, a few feet out is sufficient. • Get together a list of your appliances brand/ model or sizes. This is to provide the most comprehensive plan as possible.

By providing the above information (or pre-designed architectural plans) we will discuss with you your ideas for your kitchen and provide a budget estimate. If you have any questions please e-mail or contact us—we are happy to help and look forward to sharing in your excitement.

Kitchen Design You can work one on one with our in-house design team, to insure that you get the custom cabinets of your dreams. We have project experience ranging from commercial applications, to environmentally conscious “green” design, to authentic period spaces. Your imagination is your only limit. Our design staff will work with you to complete your design for final approval including incorporation of all appliances, finish, and hardware choices. Once the final design has been approved, we will issue a project contract including finalized costs and project scheduling—at this point a production deposit requested. Finally, we will coordinate the completion and delivery of your cabinets. Contact us at Sales@chicone.com

Kitchen Design Portfolio Arts and Crafts The fumed oak stiles and rails in this Arts and Crafts style kitchen offer a traditional framework for the figured crotch walnut panels and drawer fronts. We fumed each oak piece by hand in an ammonia tent to produce the deep warm brown tones.

Georgian This custom lacquered Georgian kitchen personifies the hearth and heart of the home. The cupboards extend three-tiers taking full advantage of the spacious 10 ft. ceilings, topped by custom crown molding. The solid maple doors, drawers, and face frames glow with the warmth of lemon ice lacquer.

Cottage Kitchens Whether it’s an historic Victorian cottage or a contemporary summer home, we specialize in maximizing small spaces. We work with the architecture to reflect the origin of the house and its surroundings.

Custom Design for Historic Spaces The custom lacquered kitchen and built-in library transforms this former Philadelphia carriage house into a contemporary living space. The natural white oak and lacquered maple cabinets offer both warmth and elegance to the historic interior.

Shaker A custom shaker-inspired kitchen fills your space with the warm glow of natural cherry. The simplicity, utility and fine craftsmanship underlines the order and neatness fundamental to the Shaker tradition. The clean simple lines of the cabinetry reflect the notion that the cabinets’ form follows its function.
