1.1 The Forgotten Valley — The campsite in Bao-Shan Reservoir Personal Work Core Studio 3, Fall 2012 Advisors / Shu-Chang Kung Site / Bao-Shan Reservoir, Hsinchu The site is a reservoir located in the mountains of southeastern Hsinchu city, Taiwan. Before the reservoir construction(1981), there were some village people who lived and farmed here. However, these spaces now were buried in the water until dry period. That's why the visitors came here could only recognize the road above the dam. The height of the water and the width of the dam became the abstract numbers for them. This project has the intention to create a dynamic spatial experience, which trying to connect the body's perception with the existing but ignored things in a unique journey.

10
Turrell is trying to suggest something that is know but not seem, enabling the viewer to use a process he likes to call “behind the eye seeing“.
11
This design looks like disconnected on the surface, but it can connect the reservior monument to the island in different dimension. And the distances between each point are meaningful. For example, from the starting point go down to lower level, this distance represents the dam's height. And to the disconnected point indicates the width of the dam. During this journey the viewer can re-recognize this site and enhance the "behind the eye seeing" process. The program of this project is a stargazing campsite. People can observe the sky at night to find those "invisible stars". When the rainy season is coming, this campsite will poetically disappear with those stars.

1.2 The Festival City — The Design Street Lamp and Wall Personal Work Core Studio 4, Spring 2013 Advisors / Yi-Hsiang Chao Site / Taipei Mayor's Salon, Taipei The project is located at the city center with particular historical significance. The Mayor's official mansion was constructed in 1940, which was during the Japanese Occupation, and than after various mayors moved in, the site was finally opened to public until 1996. In this two steps project, which aims to rethink the relationship between the mansion and the surrounding. By redefining the street lamp and the wall, which are more than architectural objects but more likely "field creator" — just like the two lines of trees in front of the site — to give the rebirth of the mayor's mansion.

This mayor's mansion has been used by various mayors as time goes by. Just like this site was different program from time to time. ( According to the history, it was rice field in1920s, lately in 1940s the mansion was constructed and in 1990s the mayor turned it into an art salon. ) The goal of this project is trying to find something which is unchanged during all the time. For example, the experience beneath the trees is a unique memory for various generations — this is very similar to the meaning of "ritual". By creating a mechanism/event, that allows the lamp to light up when the activity happened near by the trees. Therefore, the space beneath the trees will be completed by the lamp and trees no matter in day or night.

Site Plan 30
In the beginning of the second phase, trying to sum up the point of "festival (ritual)" by Processing. Finding out the diagram of 3 key points : Organization, Cycle and Spirituality. Before 1990s this mayor's mansion is very mysterious, it was hard for people to get in. Therefore, "how" to enter the site is quite important in this project. The design of the wall is more like a sequence of space instead of an edge, that emphasizes the process of getting into the site. Each of the room has the same module, which is similar to the rotation of the stairs, that represents the continuity and paradox of "Cycle". Based on the different age groups, the height of the room is scale from 1.8 m to 3 m. Therefore, the visitors can keep this unique spatial experience from childhhod to adulthood.

1.3 The Hidden Space — 2.4 m Cube + Street House Design Personal Work Core Studio 1, Fall 2011 Advisors / C. David Tseng Site / None There are two related projects in this chapter, the first one is 2.4 m3 Cube, which using one program to represent myself. And the second one is to design a street house within the cube. I chose the "darkroom" as my cube's program. In this project trying to emphasize the process from outside into the darkroom which connected the user's body experience. In the second step for the street house design, using the space (yard) instead of the surface (wall) to face the outside. Therefore, most of the space are condensed into the central building. The darkroom is on the top floor, and the only way to there is the spiral stair hiddden in between the bookshelves, that have the same diameter as the darkroom.
32
33
In this street house I create the "new" ground for the main building, so there are some inner open spaces for the upper floors. Threrefore, compared to the public programs in the ground floor, the private zone are raised and hidden to the new ground. It's quite similar to the darkroom on the top. The darkroom is surrounded by the ramp and with some open windows, which correspond to the height of movement.
Kazimir Malevich "Black Circle" (1915)
Under Suprematism I understand the primacy of pure feeling in creative art. To the Suprematist, the visual phenomena of the objective world are, in themselves, meaningless; the significant thing is feeling, as such, quite apart from the environment in which it is called forth. --- Kazimir Malevich

Because there are two different routes in it, the guest space can be separated from the private part. The tension between these two spaces - you can see it but you can't get it - is much more powerful than just close the space. the Route to the Private Space

2.1 Critical Arch — Bauhaus Museum Dessau behet bondzio lin architekten International Competition, 2015 Advisors / Yu-Han Michael Lin Co-worker / Pavla Briksovå, David Chen Tasks / Planning, design develop and modelling The Bauhaus Museum Dessau is located in the city park of DessauRosslau. Our proposal takes the urban block form and redefines the north-east corner of the city park to respect the scale of the historic city. The undulated massing of the museum bends towards the park to become part of the given whole. The continuous roof scape hovers over the city park to enclose and disclose the museum. A museum in and as the city park. The museum is split into three platforms that gradually elevate towards the southern part of the site to gradually detach the museum from street traffic and gain serenity. The roof scape is wrapped by expanding metal sheets, allowing discrete effective light transmission. This translucent envelope diffuses daylight and lights up all interior activity with serenity.

How does one exhibit a school that has heralded incredible innovation? In our search for an architecture of exhibition carrying the spirit of a workshop for innovation we arrived at the fusion of two typologies: workshop and gallery. The arched top-lit museum space, as found in thearchetypal Louvre museum, is split into two roof sections. The half arched roof is then mirrored to form an independent structure to be repeated over the whole site providing shelter for all diverse functions. The arched roofs are proportionally scaled to meet all functions.

2.2 Umbau SchmeddingstraĂ&#x;e behet bondzio lin architekten residential house, 2014-2015 Advisors / Carole Asfour Co-worker / Gaasch Stefanie, David Chen Tasks / Rendering and technical DD drawings This project is located in a small town called MĂźnster in west-north Germany. It's a re-build project based on the original house in an residential area. The most different part of this project is to dig out the ground of the back garden which can bring much more sunshine to the rooms on lower floor. In this project I learned how to draw the detail of the wall and the roof, which are quite different from Taiwan's housing. And I also visited the site for measuring and construction process.

3.1 The Cabin in the woods — Wei-Zhu Chinese Medicine Clinic Team work , 2016 Co-worker / David Chen Site / Hsinchu City Tasks / Planning, VI design, Photographs, Contact with manufacturers To differentiate the practice of Chinese medicine and Western medicine, it's similar to their cultures. For Chinese medicine, it's a bit of mystery and vague, by using implicit methods to diagnose the symptoms. For example, the doctors diagnose patients' condition by feeling their pulse and observe them, which is quite different with the Western way, using the equipment and data collecting, such as operating the X-ray machine to "see" the problem, and furthermore, fixing it by cutting the patient open. "He should just be in the mountain there, Deep, way deep in the clouds somewhere. by Jia Dao's poem
The context of seeking medical attention has sublime to the spatial experience in the old Chinese painting and poetry. Since the ideal of good doctors are rare, who live like a hermit in a small hut in the wild, it usually tooks a lot of effort to reach the destination. That's why the seeker (patient) must across mountains and rivers to get the prescription. This is the mystery of medical practice and the ideal of searching, meanwhile, a poetic transition has happened during this journey.
