Using minimal design to give people maximum surprise

Hi, I am James. I believe that design can make people’s

lives better. By focusing and observing details, our job is to develop insights to create better products. I want to use the skills I’ve learned to create designs with grace and simplicity that have great impact on peoples’ lives.

Wii Print

A 3D printer that brings objects out from games Connecting with Wii U, printing out prizes from games. Creating interactions between digital world and players.

User: kids How to create interaction between kids and printers?

Interaction between game and players

Nintendo is good at creating interaction between players and games. Main players are kids. 3D printer can create solid objects. What if we use 3D printer to bring objects out from games, in order to create more interactions?


User Scenario

User Tim 10 years old Love playing video games

Story Tim gets a Wii Print as a birthday gift. He finds out that once he accomplish a challenge in the game, he can print a piece from printer. After three challenges, he finds that these can be assembled together, like a puzzle piece. In the end he gets a Mario mushroom figure.

Design Purpose

Function

Design a phone case not only have luxury style, but also have useful function. Luxury phone usually use leather and metal as their material. Lots of phone case function nowaday are card holders, or stand. What if having a phone case using luxury material, and having multiple functions?

button There are four types of leather accessories. Card holder, conin bag, stand, and wallet. Each of them could be attached on the back of phone case by button. Users can customize their phone case depends on what function they want for that day.

Inefficient

Rogers Rance recives food scrap every week. In order to use these as composting, food will need to be cut into tiny pieces to composte faster. However, the process is not comfortable and efficient. How to minimize the process of grinding? And make it more efficient and more comfortable?
