G N I D R A PARRY H MUSICIAN
Exclusive interview by Chiku’
ESEM: Tell us a little about yourself Mr. Parry. Parry: Well , my name is Parry Harding but I’m known as “Pfunk” when I’m performing, l was born and raised in Tulsa, OK. ESEM: Where did the love for music began for you?
Parry: At a young age, I noticed by watching T.V. I thought it was pretty cool that musicians got paid to play music. To make a long story short , my journey started in 1971 when my dad bought me a used guitar from a co-worker at his job. ESEM: Did you have a mentor when you began operating in your talent, if so who and how did they inspire you? Parry: I am self taught, I had a few lessons early on in life, but I found that I enjoyed listening to songs I wanted to learn how to perform and figuring them out myself. I had many guys that I considered mentors that I watched perform or that I performed with, taking different expects of the way that they did their thing ,so to speak. A few of them are local legendary musicians that are still with us performing today and some that went home to be with the Lord such as Bill Bruner, Bobby Giles, Chris Clayton, O'Dell Stokes,Charlie Wilson just to name a few. ESEM:As, being spotlighted as a living legend, what would you say to someone that has a God given talent or dream that may need some encouragement to pursue their dreams?
Wallstreet Band Valarie Collins-Harding & Parry Harding performing at ExpoStyles Launch party 2015
Parry:I would say to them never give up, success is not always measured in financial attributes, always love the music, treasure and respect the people who are put in your path. Also, try to give your all in every performance as if it was your last, surround yourself with people that are educated about the business of music. Last, but not least , always keep God first continuing to thank him for your gift daily. ESEM:“Thank you for being a Living Legend Mr. Parry.”

Living Legends 1-Gee and Deeks or Playya 1000 as they are better known are international underground stars. People from Japan, Germany, Canada, Australia and more have paid over $500 per CD on Ebay for anything created or produced by the duo. After taking a break from the game, Playya 1000 has returned with a new passion and purpose and released ‘20/20 Vision’, a combination of the classic Playya 1000 G Funk mixed with a new school Dirty South vibe. “That album represented the natural process of life, the older you get, the clearer you see the game of life,” 1-Gee says. “It was and is a very important rap CD because it is so street relevant, but it accomplishes this without all the drama or negativity. 20/20 Vision gives you the reality of the streets, because it gives you the real truth, that for every action there is a reaction, be it good or bad the choice is yours. The momentum gained from 20/20 Vision set the stage for the release of "Cover Me I'm Going In" which picked up where 20/20 Vision left off, but was definitely more present day ready. 20/20 Vision was a spearheaded by a series of reworks of previous Playya 1000 releases. The "Cover Me" project featured the heart felt powerful single "Mama" which has received critical acclaim and some are saying is worthy of a Grammy. The video for this song is just as incredible and has been compared to Tupac's 'Dear Mama". That brings us to present day and their new CD "Keep it 1000" This CD is packed with singles. The first single and video, which is an ode to success, entitled "Bout That Life" has received great feedback from radio by reaching an audience of over 2 million. The success of "Bout That Life" set the stage for their 2nd release "Go Play". This song is guaranteed to get the party turnt up. This song has been called the feel go record of the year and the response has been incredible. The 3rd release "Noted' is a present day out of control funk track mixed with incredible lyrics and the next catch phrase for the nation. When you are "Noted" everybody knows your name. “Bout That Life” ,"Go Play" and "Noted" are all great songs and deserve to be heard by the masses. 1-Gee and Deeks also plan to shoot videos for most of the songs on the "Keep It 1000" project. They feel this is their best work yet and their songs tell stories that need to be both seen and heard. The dynamic duo will also continue their work with youth via motivational performances, True Emcee Challenges (which are rap contests that challenge emcees to create verses with no profanity or crazy content) and anything that impacts the lives of people and enhances their 20/20 Movement. For more information regarding Playya 1000 please visit playya1000.com, email playya1000@gmail.com or contact Fred Frierson at 9189028753.

When we was in High School we started this group called the DC Boys which started out with a group of four, three was rappers and Darrell was the DJ, from there other members was dropped and included, forming other names along the way but because we were best friends Playya 1000 and The Deeksta has been the foundation until now today. Fred: We was successful with our songs being distributed over seas and Internationally, around that time in 1998 I gain custody of my 4 children and Darrell and I just stopped doing music. In 2005 I was approach by a guy that wanted to by some of our music , to make a long story short he was auctioning off our music on Ebay and people was buying it for large amounts of money. There shortly after we decided to go back in the studio to recreate some songs , the plan was to remove all profanity and to create a more positive lyrics for our children to be able to listen to our music. ESEM:CeCe, tell us when did you start doing comedy? CeCe: It all started around Feb. 2014. I was working at Big Belly & All Bar and Grill at the time. The owner Comedian Velly Vel was always laughing at something I had said without me trying to be funny. So, one day he called me about an opportunity that he was presented with, to do a TV show and he ask for me to be a co-host, to make a long story short, we filmed for a show we called “Side Chicks” based on a conversation Vel and I had on the way to OKC. Also, when I decide to just give stand up comedy a try, I told Vel that I was ready. He then booked me at the Looney Bin as a Guest Set which is for people that has been doing comedy for a while, not armatures . I only had two weeks to prepare and once I got there they told me I couldn’t curse, so I got up there without cursing and the crowed loved me. Now here I am today, loving the comedy life. Comedian CeCe is currently preparing for her Live DVD show that will be January 15, 2017 Greenwood Cultural Center Tulsa, OK

Edward Lyles Known as DJ ED ESEM: DJ ED, can you tell us a little about yourself? DJ ED:I was raised as an only child, but had many cousins around that I’m still close with today. I married my High School girlfriend, it’s been eighteen years now. We have 3 beautiful and uniquely amazing daughters. I’m a trucker by day and a Dj by night. One thing people tend to find shocking, I’m a very reserved person. ESEM:Ed when did you start djing? DJ ED: I started at a very young age. I was exposed to different genres of music. The more I was introduced to it, the more I loved it. I can remember when my dad brought me my first turntable and even built a case for it. ESEM:Who inspired you as a DJ? DJ ED:I would say DJ Rockafella sometimes it was just the way his play list told a story. ESEM: What would you say to someone that is needing encouragement to follow their dreams in life? DJ ED: Be humble, never forget those that helped you along the way, you can always learn more.

eri Overstreet Known as DJ KO ESEM:Thank you Kerri for taking out the time to talk with us. Where did the love of music and Djing start for you? DJ KO:Well, as you know growing up with my older brother Cardell, was the hometown Dj for parties, so he knew I loved music , he than became my mentor that allowed me to shadow him. I would watch how he would manipulate the crowd by the varies types of music he would play. One night he let me spin at my middle school party and the crowd loved it, it was like my own musical orchestra. I had control of making the crowd feel happy, sad or in love, thereafter I would sneak in my brothers equipment and work on my own craft so, that’s where it all began for me. ESEM: Now, I know you are the King of Swing Out Dancing, how did you start instructing? DJ KO:I’ve always liked to dance since back in middle school. In, 2004 I attended a function and they was Swing dancing. I had previously took up Ballroom dancing so I knew the basic move of that style of dancing. I began to take classes for Swing Out and enjoyed it so much I started my own brand as a master instructor of Swing Out. Been at it for eleven in a half years now. ESEM: I call you a Classic Man because you dress so nice. Where did you get your fashion style from? DJ KO: Growing up my mom had us four boys in church wearing suites, so I have been accustomed to doing so. As, I became older I just like the look of having a well tailored suite and sometimes I will put a twist on my style to make it my own look. ESEM: Be looking for more to come from Keri in our next issue.

When I return back to Oklhoma in 1994 I began to do hair then in 1999 I opened my Salon called The Hair Cafe’ in OKC, we have been in business for sixteen years now. ESEM: When did you start promoting events? David: The Salon was the door opener for me to start promoting events.
www.expostylesmag.com
By, having some conversations with a few clients at the salon, sparked the idea of doing some events in the community. ESEM: What caused you to be interested in doing hair? David:I never really thought I would be doing hair and women’s hair wasn’t in my plan but I do both women and men. I was always good at art growing up in school, some of the elements are somewhat in the same with drawing, you have shading and fading just as in barbering. My father was in the Air force in Washington DC so while living on the base, I began to cut a few guys heads on base and one of the men asked me, why don’t you go to school to get your license? Right, the next day I looked up schools and enrolled. At, that time I really didn’t know what I wanted to do far as a career but it all came natural for me while I was in school, now here I am sixteen years later with my own Salon.

ESEM: Can you tell us about yourself Davon, where are you from and when did you start your photography business? SagaBoss: I’m originally from Connecticut , I am currently living in Atlanta been three years since March 2016. As, far as my photography work, it started when I was young and I disliked it because I was the kid at all the family functions chosen to take the pictures while all the other kids got to play.
After someone offered me money to take pictures for them, then I began to work on photography as a craft, now here I am today. For the last two years, I have been nominated as one of Atlanta’s Hottest Photographers.
ESEM: So, it sounds to me that photography wasn’t a dream or passion at first for you. This is very interesting to me, please share more. SagaBoss: No, photography wasn’t a dream, it was more of, I could make money doing this but after doing so many sessions I developed a eye for it because of my creativity in seeing beauty in everything, also having a good eye for pretty dope background spots. I’m quite passionate about my craft now. I enjoy doing a lot of red carpet events here in Atlanta. STRESS = (S)omething (T)hat (R)ules (E)very (S)urface (S)ituation How do you feel when you become overwhelmed with everyday life, unexpected events, circumstances and situations that arise which are out of your control? How do you deal with difficulties that seem to be insurmountable resulting in you believing you are feeling stressed? If you are honest with yourself, many individuals become stressed because of “something that rules every surface situation,” which we internalize and allow it to create a rise in our being peaceful. When you really take a step back and look at the situation from a different perspective, you will see that it wasn’t that bad after all. Some situations are out of our control, and how we allow them to affect us can be either negative or positive. If we allow the situation to affect us negatively, it begins to work on our internal ability to rationally think things through. If, individuals allow external or surface situations to rule their inner most being, it will cause one to become stressed. The psychological definition of stress is defined by Webster’s dictionary as “a state of mental or emotional strain or suspense; or difficulty that causes worry or emotional tension.”
All of the psychological issues that cause stress can result in physical manifestation of sickness and even lead to elevated blood pressure. It is imperative that you control the amount of negative stressors you allow to contribute to the physical and psychological pressures of your life. How do you control negative stressors? I suggest you do the following: Remain CALM, under pressure by never allowing “surface situations” to affect your internal ability to release those things that create a feeling of emotional strain. It is only a temporary feeling that will eventually pass away, leaving you with a lesson learned or a lesson to be repeated. Life is full of ups and downs and when you evaluate each rationally, you’ll realize the good always outweigh the bad, so why stress at all? It is human nature to become stressed under pressure, because it is a learned behavior that many feel they can’t control, however, I beg to differ. We can always be in control of what we allow to affect our internal being, by simply speaking life into the situation and using reverse psychology on self.
Written by Minister Norma Roy-Hardie Washington D.C.
Talk yourself out of what is making you feel stressed, by MEDITATING on positive, and inspirational messages you either hear, read, or speak. There is a vibration of life that can create an atmosphere of relief, when you are under pressure. Begin to know what moves you from feeling stressed to feeling calm. No one can make you feel stressed if you take control over your well being and your mind. Your mind can lead you to places you never thought existed if you tapped into the power of positive thinking. It’s an internal mechanism that we all have the ability to control, and I encourage you to begin to tap into that being of self that rarely gets to dictate to SELF-- because of the surface interruptions which has caused stress. Let it go and begin to see yourself free from all that makes you receive that which has no control over you in the beginning. It’s all about the power of belief. Believe you’re free and you are, if you believe you’re stressed, you will continue to receive stress!! Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale; have a “WOOSAH” moment and step back from the surface situation, interrupting the flow of energy, by redirecting it and BECOME a peaceful being, even under pressure.

Photoshoot Ready Tips with MsNickee Mack Owner of Diva Day International Modeling Agency, Atlanta, GA
Your dream shoot is coming up, are you ready? What should you do to prepare? Well, let me help you get the maximum from your Fabulous Photo shoot Day! Being prepared helps things run smoothly. Have an open mind and think outside the box. Be sure to get standard shots and then just go for it! Get a clear understanding of what concept your photographer wants or what the 2 of you are collaborating on. Pre-pack necessity items like, under garments, body shaper, thongs seamless panties, tank top, jeans, black leggings and garments requested by the photographer, unless you have a stylist coming. (but please carry assist items just in case).
Celebrity Stylist Shakira Clark Working her magic on Model MsNickee Mack Photography by SagaBoss
Exfoliate and get skin as clear as possible in the weeks leading to the shoot, clean your system, drink plenty of water, detox so that you have no bloating. (No alcohol the night before the shoot it causes bags). Have a least 5 pair of shoes, get your hands, feet and eyebrows groomed!!! Be ON TIME, at least 30 minutes early to assure hair and makeup is completed properly and not rushed. DO NOT BRING children or a crew!! I think bringing one person for support is ok, but not the entire family. Be Positive mentally and emotionally, the camera sees all! Be Confident! Have Clean hair, or have your hair already groomed if there is no stylist on deck! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, wear clean undergarments, and be springtime fresh, shave underarms and all hairy areas groomed! There is so much that goes into a photo shoot, this has to be a win win for all parties involved, so go in to it with a winning attitude and be super professional at all times. Do not ask the photographer to see each and every picture but do ask if the shot was good, he may have some advice while shooting, photographers are great at giving direction. Take it seriously and create magic, a wasted shoot is wasted time and money! I hope this helps someone build a beautiful portfolio and have an amazing shoot! MUAHHHHHHPOP MsNickeeTheBrand

When I stared playing the sax, I would listen to David Sandborn along with a few others that played classic jazz,so by listening to those musicians they have influenced my style over the years. ESEM: What would you say to a young person that want to follow their dreams in the music industry? El: To that young person that is inspiring to become a musical performer, instructor or entertainer . As long as you have the passion for the music and if you enjoy what you do in performing in front of others, pursue that God given talent that you have been given. I encourage you to practice and make perfect your skill, work hard, practice performing in front of others. I encourage you to find an outlet to perform on a platform so others can appreciate your gift. ESEM: Who keeps your hair groomed? El: When I do go get my hair groomed, I go to Tyson Thompson which I have been going to him for a number of years now.

BARBER GROOMING TIPS 1. Barber Marques Sutton says, you should schedule your young sons professional hair cuts every two weeks. To maintain a clean fresh head by shampooing & condition hair at home. Also, make sure he has a nice wave brush if he has a low fade cut, a comb to use if he has a little more length to keep the style maintained.
2. Styles such as bobs or afro cuts needs to be forked out with a afro pick. Also, if he has twist, he would need a sponge to keep his curls in tacked. He can use some lite wave grease nothing heavy because it can clog up the cuticles, that’s if he is rocking a blade or low fade haircut.

THE STYLIST
ESEM: Can you tell us about Shakira the Educator? Shakira:When I first attend Cosmetology school, I learned everything I could about Caucasian hair and I mastered it but I didn’t complete school at that time. I went on to a totally different career path with becoming a seventh grade school teacher. But, one day after quitting my job, I was watching BET gospel show and I made up in my mind I was going back to finish Cosmetology school and I attended Dudley. In, 2011 I was seen by a L’Oreal representative that liked my speech presents at a Dudley convention. I immediately took the opportunity because I then could utilize my teaching experience. As an educator I’m able to give life to those skills that needs encouragement to push them into their next level that is in them already. You can currently find me teaching at the Bonner Brothers Hair show in Atlanta. Im here to educate and empower my industry.
ESEM: Who is Shakira the Stylist? Shakira: I have been in the hair industry for seventeen years now. I am from North Carolina area, my hometown is Oxford. I really enjoy being behind the chair. I specialize in hair color, cutting, weaving, short hair styling. I’m a trend setter in my industry. ESEM: Where did the passion start with you doing hair? Shakira: It wasn’t a passion of mine at first, I actually had a bad experience with getting my hair cut, thereafter, my mother encouraged me to do my own hair for my prom and I did a great job. I never thought I would be doing hair because computers was my passion but come to find out doing hair is my gift from God.

THE BRAND
THE EDUCATOR
ESEM: Tell us about Shakira the brand? Shakira: About three years ago, I birthed Shakira the brand along with my publicist at the time because my online following would always ask, “ How do I become a celebrity stylist or how do I get my work published?” Like, myself at the beginning I didn’t know, so I thought I would began teaching others how to brand. That’s how Shakira the brand started. I teach people how to tape into their greatness on the inside of them through branding. I’m excited to re launch what I have done in the past with Facebook live chat. I wanted to let my fan base know that I am touchable with being accessible for Q & A live. So, I thought to reach out to ExpoStyles along with some others to help with sponsoring the branding re launch. Be looking for us for updates on FB @shakirathebrand

Hank Bryd, the film Director, creative force behind “In the Thick” has captured the most beautiful images of some amazing women. Stay tuned for his documentary to be released soon .
“In The Thick” Conversations from the thick side of life.
"M.W.T.B" Those eyes, filled with wander and seductive flare. Those thighs, so thick and smooth as silk. Her curves, so tantalizing, If beauty had a representation ....it would be none other than the curvaceous queen. Enticing lips, hips that amaze, a walk like no other and ass for days. I don't call her BBW, I call her MWTB. For she is “My Wife To Be”....all of her curves are reserved especially for me. The trend of today says a woman should be between the size of zero and five, all lies in my eyes. I want thick thighs to border that prize. Full and beautiful lips for me to kiss and a swivel in her hips that makes me miss her when she is gone. Even though I hate to see her go, I love to watch her leave and watch that apple bottom shake like a 7.5 quake and it all belongs to me. Now, no offense to the thin ladies, there are plenty of men that long to call you baby. Just I am a man that likes to be lost in the thick. Curvaceous, voluptuous, thick, or stacked, whatever the name. I'll take all of that....for a lifetime we'll spend and endless beauty within her I'll see. Pretty eyes and thick thighs....My Wife To Be. By Published Arthor David Motte
