C&NN Special Report on 2011 Serve Outside September (S.O.S.) C&NN celebrates the first annual Serve Outside September Campaign Surveys indicate that more than 10,000 Adults, Children and Youth cleaned, enhanced or restored land in 29 states and Canada. Over 100 service projects were recorded in the first annual S.O.S. • Based on survey results, we estimate that more than 5,000 adults and 5,000 children and youth worked on habitat-‐ related service projects during this month, donating more than 60,000 hours of service. • Participants in S.O.S. report cleaning, enhancing or restoring a total of 56 miles and 939 acres! The second year of the Natural Service Network is off to a great start, with more to come! Plans are underway to play, serve and celebrate in April as part of Let’s G.O.! (Get Outside) 2012, and the Natural Service Network will encourage people of all ages to conduct and participate in nature-‐based service projects throughout the year.
