A concept shoot based on the
popular Parker Bro’s board game CLUE. An elegant dinner party with dark and mysterious elements waits for our guests. As the night unravels, deception plays a common theme.
Décor & Inspiration
Dark and light elements, vintage décor meets elegant dining. Our main table features six place settings; the center is filled with white beautiful floral arrangements, classic white candle sticks, and individual guests with wax seal stamp cupcakes. White plates were matched with black menu cards, place settings with character names, and simple 10

clear glassware holding chocolate cupcakes. The textures and contrast and having all photos in black and white were part of my vision to show darkness in our theme.
Sweets & Eats
The elegant cake design features black ruffles; a very clean look and masterpiece. Our side table has a vintage typewriter that shows our clue cards with character and place photos (From original game pack). My favorite element of the shoot was the six classic weapons (knife, rope, gun, lead pipe, wrench and finally the candlestick).
Costumes & Characters
Our models play victim & murder. It is never clear who should fear for their life. We used stationary to convey an evening of activities and our guests were meant to play their roles; and they did very convincingly! The anger and rage behind the eyes when Miss. Scarlet draws the gun behind the unsuspecting Mr. Green. Our models certainly showed how to get into character.

Our bride wore a stunning handmade tulle floor length skirt topped with a gold sequin sweetheart top.
Her look was complete with vintage inspired rhinestone heels and a cage veil. She carried a beautiful arrangement full of fresh pinks, peaches and greens. Our groom looked relaxed and modern in slim fitting suit slacks, a crisp white shirt, slim tie and matching boutineer. Our sweet favors included mason jar pedestals filled with wedding candies and a sweet thank you tag. This rustic yet glamorous wedding was truly a chic and elegant event.

A rustic farm in combination with
sequins and tulle set the scene for our Rustic Glam Wedding shoot. The rustic barn planks and a custom tassel garland served as the backdrop for this simple yet elegant dessert buffet. A stunning champagne sequin tablecloth draped the table. It was adorned with vintage peach and gold dishes full of gourmet sweets, fresh and bright floral arrangements and a gorgeous cake as the centerpiece. Elegant buffet labels on gold glittered fans marked our decedent array of
confections, which included a naked cake decorated with hand made sugar flowers and succulents. It was topped with a custom gold glitter “love cake topper. The table also included cake pops with jeweled sticks, macaroons, 3 tiered gold and mint cookies, raspberry petit fours, white and gold scrolled fondant cookies, floral inspired cupcakes wrapped in gold lace, and a variety of candy including gumballs, Sixlets and pearls. Beautiful floral arrangements in gold dipped mason jars completed the feel of the table.
There were plenty more sweets available on our custom candy buffet which was adorned with a love inspired banner. A handcrafted ribbon backdrop in mint, peach, lace and gold sequins served as an eye catching piece. Custom gold drink stirrers added just the right touch. A darling bar cart was filled with chocolate champagne bottles, vintage glasses, aromatic florals, a perfectly peach ice bucket and a delightful set of mint colored goblets.

This festive wedding vow styled
session was held in Borges Ranch in Walnut Creek, CA. Borges Ranch is an amazing location filled with vibrant colors and historic artifacts. I wanted to create a colorful styled photo shoot inspired by Cinco de Mayo, but we also wanted to add some color, we wanted that would represent a true mexican fiesta. . We knew that confetti, sequin, and bright colors were a must. We incorporated a lot of fuchsia, gold, orange, yellow, purple hues to go with the overall theme fiesta theme.
I love to create really fun wedding
ideas so when planning a a vibrant colorful Mexican fiesta I knew I would incorporate the some traditional elements but spice it up by adding sequin which is a huge trend in 2014. The setting is set to resemble a chic but festive mexican vibe. We combined traditional baked make deserts with modern inspired cake pops and macaroons. Traditional mexican vases known as jarritos were used used for a more traditional look. The flowers are a mix of bright colors which add a touch of rustic feel we wanted the shoot to be inspired by the style, culture, and colors of Mexico. I knew I wanted to include traditional
elements such papel picado, maracas, mexican desserts. I also wanted to include paper flowers to create the perfect fiesta..
W
e were thrilled to have gorgeous photography done by Angie Capri. This wedding vow inspiration is a the perfect mixture between a Mexican fiesta, beautiful surroundings, lots of bright colors, flowers, and love.
Many Thanks to the incredible vendors.

This is another beautiful party styled by Banner Events – See the full spread in the July Issue of Party Style Magazine – Once upon a time, (60 years ago, to be exact) in a faraway city, a beautiful baby girl was born. Like every little girl, this sweet child (my mom), had dreams of becoming a princess. Born on Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation day, she had long dreamed of fancy ball gowns, royal castles and crown jewels. This pretty girl continued to dream and one day her fascination with the Royal Family eventually led her to England on a few different occasions, where countless individuals stopped her and remarked how much she resembled the lovely Lady Diana. She has always lived a life

full of dignity and class, unselfish service to others and love for all. When it came time to begin plans for her 60th birthday party with family, we knew it had to be a royal celebration fit for our queen mother. Much like a true royal celebration, where the finest bakers & craftsmen in all the land are commissioned to produce their masterpieces, we sought out the help of an amazingly talented group of true artists, each an expert in their craft. There were designers and bakers, a seamstress, photographer and so on. With the help, talents and wonderful products of many people, a beautiful royal celebration began to take shape.
Every fabulous event begins with a gorgeous invitation. Event paper and stationery designer, Lorelee Lewis , customized her “Crown Princess” suite for our royal occasion. Royal decrees were sent out to family members requesting their presence at the “Carver Castle”. A true tribute to my mom, all immediate family members rearranged plans to be in attendance—1 husband, 5 children, 5 spouses, 12 grandchildren + 1 on the way. As this celebration took place out of state for both me as the planner & stylist and also for the guest of honor and most of the family, almost every piece of décor & dessert
had to be shipped in sight unseen, hand carried in suitcases or driven close to 900 miles on each leg of the trip. Our venue was not actually a castle, but rather a large cabin nestled in the mountains of a small Utah town. With the wonderful contributions of every business, we transformed a rustic mountain cabin into a lovely intimate royal celebration perfect for our sweet mom. Upon arrival at Carver Castle, guests were greeted by Queen Elizabeth II (o.k., it might have been a life-sized cardboard replica) and entered an oversized door beautifully accented with a custom pearl wreath by Sweet
Georgia Sweet. They were shown to their royal “apartments” where they could primp & polish for the occasion. Beautiful costumes had been sewn for each of the twelve grandchildren to bring the magic of a royal celebration to life. Perfect, custom-sewn felt hats with delicate embellishments were created by Crackabo for little princes and princesses. Gorgeous soft pink tulle tutus by Atutudes were sewn with prancing and twirling princesses in mind. Appliquéd shirts with crowns, carriages and sparkling gold & silver thread were beautifully customized with each child’s name by Great Stitch. One was also gifted for the birthday “girl”. The princesses were each thrilled to
receive enchanting sparkling pink wands, while the princes received shiny capes with crown detailing, all handmade by Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams. Our heroic little princes were armed with swords & shields, and our fashionable princesses were given crown kits and embellishments to craft spare crowns from Oriental Trading Co. They pranced and twirled and dueled and fought off imaginary dragons as all good little princesses and princes should do. A royal treasure hunt ended in squeals of glee as the treasure box full of treats and jewels from Oriental Trading Company was discovered! By then, the royal court had defi-

nitely worked up a royal appetite. A scrumptious catered meal by Wallaby’s Smokehouse was presented in the royal dining hall and in the royal gardens. Guests feasted on chipotle chicken, BBQ beef brisket, smashers (a delicious side consisting of cheesy mashed potatoes topped with green onions, smoked bacon, and sour cream), garden salad & homemade rolls with cinnamon butter. Our buffet table was beautifully accessorized with stunning pearl topiaries from Sweet Georgia Sweet , a custom royal platter with vinyl crown accents from Creative Designs by Toni, sparkly tassel garlands by Fancy & Fold and a beverage dispenser accented with a gold vinyl crown from Ten23Designs. A knight in shining armor stood guard and watched over the food.
Lovely food labels designed by Loralee Lewis helped guests, both young and old, decide on which morsels to add to their plates. The Birthday princess and her daughters dined underneath a chandelier of beautiful poms by Peckled. Sparkly place settings consisted of gorgeous DIY gold lace crowns, gold & pink flowered gift boxes byFancy & Fold, and custom beverages wrapped in gold sparkly cardstock from American Crafts & self-adhesive labels from Loralee Lewis. Goblets were accessorized with coordinating flagged straws, also produced by Loralee Lewis. We loved the scroll chair backers Loralee created for us to dress up the rustic chairs we had to work with at our location. A sparkly
silver tulle sash helped bring in a touch of elegance as well. Our little guests dined on similar tables with kid-friendly gold & silver place settings & fun castle cupcake holder centerpieces provided by Oriental Trading Company. Of course, the highlight of the celebration was our royal sweets table. It was a challenge figuring out how to make a budget-friendly, transportable castle wall backdrop that would fit in a mini-van with 6 people and luggage for a 30-hour roundtrip car ride! But, we did it! Using two tri-fold foam presentation boards, some dollar store foam core boards and a few cans of Krylon Make it Stone spray paint, we found our backdrop solution! We crafted gorgeous medieval style

pennant banners from stunning sheets of gold, glittered damask scrapbook paper & sparkly gold ribbon from American Crafts and added the eye-catching intricate wood laser cut gold crown from Ten23Designs as a focal point on the backdrop. A romantic ruffled tablecloth from Candy Crush Events was layered with dreamy, soft pink David Tutera rosette fabric and became home to a display of the most beautiful confections you can imagine! Sweeten Your Day Cakesdreamed up a truly stunning tufted royal crown pillow cake with edible beading to showcase the golden fondant crown handcrafted by 4 Kids Cakes. Mouth wateringly delicious cupcakes from Cupcake Chic Utah
were topped off with lovely rosette toppers designed by Loralee Lewis and fondant toppers by 4 Kids Cakes. We displayed these on pale pink cake stands from Smash Cake & Co. 4 Kids Cakes also made yummy chocolate covered Oreos with a chocolate pattern that was a perfect grab-and-go item for little hands. Delicate macarons (4 Kids Cakes) in a lovely shade of pink were nestled in gorgeous gold trinket boxes from Ronisugar Creations. Roni also shipped in her glamorous chocolate covered apples & rice krispy treats for the occasion. Beautiful ribbons and embellishments added by Roni truly made these desserts as equally breathtaking as they were delicious. Picture perfect cookies by
Frog Prince Cake & Cookies rested beautifully on a bed of white “pearl candies from Candied Confections. One of the crowd favorites was the white chocolate popcorn in fancy custom crown favor boxes from Piggy Bank Parties. Lulu Popz designed such stunning crown and monogram cakepops that were almost too beautiful to eat. (I said, almost.) Guests were invited to fill up pink, gold-embossed favor bags by Vanessa Grant Events so they could sample treats all evening long. And we all lived, happily ever after. We are so grateful for the talents of our truly amazing photographer Lyndsey, of Lyndsey Fagerlund Photography.

About this party This sweet shower theme, designed by Lemonberry Moon, will delight any Mommy-to-bee. We combined natural elements like fresh flowers and honeycomb, with some modern details, like tulle poms by A Pom Pom Affair,
46

to create a simply elegant display. While this theme is great for a gender-neutral celebration, we added touches of pink to celebrate the arrival of a baby girl.
Some of my favorite details were the vinyl chalkboard labels by Sweet Kaity, and the beesewax candles and accents by Beesewax Candle Company.
Yellow and grey printables throughout from Forever Your Prints, helped to tie our theme together.
Treats were as sweet as could “bee”, like the cookies from Katie’s Creative Baking, and fondant toppers by Lena’s Cakes.

Meet Jillian Tohber Leslie Americas Party Queen When did you start catch my party My husband and I launched Catch My Party in 2009, but we started planning it and dreaming about it as far back as 2006.
How has the Catch My Party brand evolved over the years ? We’ve definitely grown, but the core values of our brand have stayed the same. Our goal is twofold: to help people (mostly moms) throw beautiful parties for their families and friends, and to be a place where anyone can share their party planning creativity with the world.
What is your all time favorite party theme ? Why ? I would say the parties that make me swoon the most are “shabby chic” parties. It’s funny, because it’s not really my personal style. For example, my house is not shabby chic at all, but a beautiful shabby chic party can really transport me!
What are your long term goals for catch my party and what can we look for ? We are about to launch our responsive 56
www.ilovepartystyle.com
site, which means it will look great on mobile, tablets, and desktops, plus it will have a cleaner, more open look. I’m very excited about it.
What are all the services your site offers? Our users have added over 20,000 parties to our site, so we are the largest party ideas and inspiration site on the web. If you have a party theme in mind, chances are we have a party or two for you to take a look at. We also offer free party printables, recipes, party craft ideas, party supplies, and so much more!
What are sone if you favorite blogs? One of my new favorites sites is Medium. It’s a blogging platform with really interesting bloggers. It’s also beautiful to look at. If I need a break I can usually find a post on there that either teaches me something, inspires me, or both.
What is your biggest source of inspiration ? I know this is going to sound trite, but definitely my family is my biggest inspiration. My mom is my guide and has always been. I never would have been able to take the risks I’ve taken in life without her. My husband is my partner in everything. I feel so blessed that I get to travel on this journey called “life” with him. And my daughter is my light. She is definitely one of my biggest teachers.
What would be a dream come true for you and catch my party ? I’d like to continue to grow our site and be better at what we do, but it already is a dream come true. I love my job and what my husband and I have been able to create together.
Who’s on the catch my party team ? My husband and I are partners. He handles all the technical aspects, I handle the content, but we make all strategic decisions together. (He also holds my light when I’m taking photographs.) :) We also have a Director of Content, Michelle, who helps with everything you see on the site. I’d be lost without her!
How can we learn more and get more inspiration from catch my party? Please visit us at catchmyparty.com to check us out. You can also find us on: Pinterest http://www.pinterest.com/catchmyparty/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/catchmyparty Twitter https://twitter.com/catchmyparty Instagram http://instagram.com/catchmyparty Google+ https://plus.google. com/u/0/b/117457777158635603540/+Catchmypartysite/posts We currently live in Palo Alto, CA. About This Party This elegant yet fun baby shower is one of my favorite party themes! When photographer Christina asked me to style a baby shower for her friend all she mentioned were
62
www.ilovepartystyle.com
dream catchers. She said it was just an idea but that I could design it any way I liked. I played around with different theme ideas since I had been give the go ahead to do any theme I wanted. But I eventually went back to the dream catcher and went with a Bohemian/shabby chic look. I didn’t want it to be designed around dream catchers though. I decided to go with feathers and ruffly teepees as the main theme.
You know the girly kind that is all the rage now for kids! I did go with small beautiful dream catchers as the guest party favors and I crafted a dream catcher decoration using a twig like wreath to give it a different look. Yellow and gray with accents of gold and silver were the color palette in this design. This was a Meet and Greet baby shower so baby girl Weslie and her mama Brooke were the guests
of honor. Mama Brooke said they felt like “celebrities” and another guest commented how she didn’t even have a wedding like this baby shower. Everyone enjoyed meeting baby Weslie and hanging out with her mama. Everyone loved the baby headband/ hairclip guest activity station. Baby Weslie even modeled the most beautiful lacy romper for the party!
The cakes, cupcakes and cookies were gorgeous and delicious! The decorations and details were over the top dreamy. Overall this baby shower was a hit and I loved the theme and all of the details.

A unique party by the talented strawberry mommy cakes - we are so lucky to share this party with you this is what she had to say about creating this shin daig for her sons 3rd birthday My little guy turned 3 in February…so of course he loves all things with wheels, but he really loves PLANES!! He will pick up anything and it will become a plane. Usually it’s a fighter jet making crashing noises. I had a lot help for this party from my sister-in-law, Hilary and my mom (aka, the babysitter). It was so much fun to be around all the cousins again…the kids had a blast! Plus, I created this party on a very
78
www.ilovepartystyle.com
tight budget (after Christmas and 3 consecutive birthdays in our family, we’re always squeezing by this time of year!)
that trusty! I made it using this tutorial from Bee in Our Bonnet. Okay, my husband made it, but it’s still my favorite cake stand ever.
I decided to have this party at the park this year. I have never had an outdoor party and it comes with it’s own difficulties. You can’t tell by the pictures, but it was WINDY!!! I hadn’t planned on that and my balloons had to be tied to the side of the table…I was pretty bummed, but I still like the way it turned out.
Besides that, most of my decor is made from my Little Pilot Printables. I absolutely LOVE this printable set. The cupcake toppers are my pride and joy with the cute little pilot and propeller. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again; using printables is the easiest and cutest way to make your party budget friendly. I even made my display boxes to hold the cookies and marshmallows! By the way, I made the color scheme very similar to Disney’s Planes on purpose ;) My favorite things in this
I also used my trusty cake stand that I use at almost every party (Dinomite, Cowgirl,When I Grow Up). I haven’t even had to repaint it…it’s
printable set: The flying cupcake toppers! You can purchase the PDF here or the Silhouette Files here The invite…just love the way it turned out :) The “Max is Going Places” luggage tags and popcorn boxes The mini gable boxes The plane masks It’s all my favorite, but those are the highlights! My kids are kind of immune to my parties, but my friend’s son was so excited about all the printables…it was too cute! I didn’t want to have to make my treats too involved this time around, so we had chocolate mint
marshmallows, lemon cupcakes (soooo good!), snickerdoodle cookies, and store bought pop corn and trail mix. I’m a big fan of making things elaborate, but sometimes you have to give yourself a break. Plus, the kids devoured everything! Since I made most things and pop corn and trail mix is really cheap, I saved a ton of money on food by doing it myself (and by myself, I mean myself and Hilary).
was determined. I would go with a sugar cookie recipe next time, but I’m horrible at baking and I know I can make snickerdoodles. I made a printable box, put some Styrofoam in the box, glued the cookies to cake pop sticks with chocolate and stuck them in the Styrofoam. I used Easter grass to cover up the styrofoam. I won’t be doing this again anytime soon, but I really do love the way it looks
The hardest part was the snickerdoodle cookies…while I think they look AMAZING…they were really hard to cut out. I had to cut them out before I baked them and after…it was a hard process, but I

About this Shower
We’ve all been to bridal showers. It’s always a fun way to honor the bride-to-be, to gather & celebrate her upcoming nuptials. When our best friends daughter Megan became engaged to fiance’ Jacob my daughter and I had to help her celebrate. What better way than to help her get started in life by focusing on a certain part of her new home, than throwing her a kitchen bridal shower? We started with having PartyOnDesigns create her invitation. Wanting a classy, and delicate feel, we had hints of lace everywhere. Included in the invites were recipe cards for all the guests to fill out and bring to start Megan off on her own cookbook. A ruffled apron made by Cupcake with Character was the perfect accent and a fun keepsake

for the bride to have in her kitchen. Hints of a whisk & other kitchen gadgets can be found throughout the decor. The savory foods were a collection of some of the brides favorites, and a few that were just too fun not to have. Everything in miniatures form is cute, so we had to use shot glasses to serve veggies & dip. It’s all about presentation. When serving things that you’d typically use a toothpick for - we used bamboo skewers & pics from Party City. We served individual fondue helpings in cute candy cups from the Pretty Party Shoppe for each guest. Decorating the food table, we used the recipe cards that out of town guests & the mother of the bride provided. Our sweets table was the main focal point. A lace edged muslin runner made by Cupcake with Character stared off the decor, and a banner by PartyOn. In the center of the
table, we used a chalkboard frame made by Laddie of Re-New Relics. To add the “recipe”, I used a washable chalk pen - so that the bride could change it up at a later date if she chooses. Mini chalkboard favor jars filled with candies from KateAspen were adorable. The 3 tiered “cake” was provided by Shontay. She created a kitchen towel cake made from towels from the brides registry. Always the Occasion painted mason jars in both mint & peach, creating the perfect hints of color to add to the blues & whites of the shower. We added chalkboards, lace, burlap, & fringe yarn to complete the look. Baby’s breath lent to the soft lacy feel of the decor. The sweets included fun cookies decorated like kitchen gadgets by Creating Awesomenessity. They even made a cookie of the bride in an apron - so fun! Autumn Lynn’s Chocolate Sins made mini donuts that tied the colors together perfectly. 4KidsCakes provided the cake
pops, using sticks from PartyOnDesigns & mini whisks. Meringues, French Macarons, & Cupcakes & toppers finished off the treats provided by 4KidsCakes. Custom fondant toppers utilizing the design from PartyOn’s printables, were a fun touch that the bride loved. My amazing mother-in-law, made mini cheese cakes in a chocolate crust at my request. Topped with fresh raspberries - they were a favorite of the guests. Fizzy Party provided the “We’ve Decided on Forever” felt garland hung above the table. Varied sizes of tissue poms from PartyOn hung from the ceiling & fence to pull it all together. Our beverage station kept with the kitchen theme, from the Lemonade dispenser in the shape of a mason jar, to the drink vessels themselves.....more mason jars. The Pretty Party Shoppe provided mason jar lids. We used straws from Hoopla Events, that we paired with
wine charms from Kate Aspen & tags and flags from PartyOn. Water bottle wraps added another drink choice for the party goers. Hints of lace were also another PartyOn touch. Our table settings were one of the most talked about items at the shower. Plates, wooden utensils, and napkins were all from Susty Party. They just appeared on Shark Tank recently, and caught our eye. Not only were they beautiful, but so sturdy as well. One of the neatest features of the plates is that they are oven & microwave safe, & can be composted after use! Glass Lace coasters placed at each table setting from Kate Aspen, and custom muslin bags from Party On completed the look. Wooden candy scoops finished off the table accents.
the Davis sign for the bride with her soon-to-be last name. Painting Paris Pink provided the beautiful platter with bride & grooms initials. So fun, and can be used for years to come! A mason jar place here, with a heart shaped ice cream scoop pulled in a delicate pop of color. The garland was put together with wisks, heart shaped measuring spoons from Kate Aspen, and felt mixers by Fizzy Party. Beautiful lace favor boxes from Kate Aspen held French Macarons made by 4KidsCakes, accented with thank you tags by PartyOn. Each guest took one home with them.
The fireplace mantle was one of my favorite parts of the shower. Amandas Memories Made created
