7 Things You Should Never Say to Your Kids

ďƒ˜Parenting is a roller coaster ride. It has its own ups and downs and sometimes it is an undeniably difficult job. ďƒ˜Sometimes, high on emotions, one can utter things which children can remember for the rest of their lives. Children are quite delicate and are learning 24/7 from their parents.
If you want you and your toddler to have a more peaceful life, avoid these 7 things when communicating: • I Could Do That When I Was Your Age - Telling your kids that they're failing to meet the milestones which you accomplished at the same age, is quite harmful in the long run. All kids are different and learn at different paces. Comparing will only worsen the process. • You’re Selfish - Children tend to be emotionally attached to their things, toys and food in their early stages. Calling the behaviour selfish can be damaging. Working on their sharing skills with other children can be a good way of showing that sharing is caring. • Why Can’t You Be More Like Your Sibling? - The comparison isn’t going to benefit either of the children. It just fosters unhealthy competition and demotivation.
• Finish Your Good - There is a difference between being full and being stuffed. It’s good to enforce not wasting food, but extra stuffing can set bad eating habits in later stages of life.
• Stop Acting Like a Baby - Kids are emotional beings just like adults, and sometimes they are not in total control of their feelings.Yelling, “stop acting like a baby”, will neither help the kid nor you. Talking out the matter is the only option to address the real problem. • You’re Doing That Wrong - If you want children to do something don’t tell them, show them how it’s done. Children are naturally curious and they learn by doing. • Do I look Fat? - Body shaming should be avoided in childhood as it sets unrealistic expectations for toddlers. Teach them a healthy lifestyle approach.
