Productive Landscape

Introduction Weinan City is struggling with soil salinization. It is a difficult situation for crops cultivation for only few of the crops survived. The proposed strategy is to introduce the flood of Yo River to the site by controll ing dams and modifying the topology. Floods would take away Salinity, and the runoff goes through wetlands so the water can be reused to irrigate new farms and pastures.

I'm so grateful to see my old friend's boat wasn't deposed, the boat is now serving the public. Granpa, plants and bugs are fun!

The traditional play reminds of my childhood. PEOPLE used to TAKE every festival SERIOUSLY.

I encounterED an exhibition in these renovated old houses that survived demolishment. Although I work nearby, I never know this place have such history !

Urban Villages in Nanning are gradually being turned into formal residentials. In order to improve the living standard of the residents, infrastructures can be implemented to serve the communities.

1. Interviewing with Residents

Renovate main public areas and connect them with renovations along a designed path.

During a summer vacation (Aug, 2018), I met residents of a urban village and officers from district office to have conversations about their concerns of current living environment. Their main concern is the deficiency and oldness of infrastructures mainly caused by unshakable wealth gap. They did not enjoy the public zone in the village for there are too many elements – electric motors, cars, pedestrians, mobile shops and so on. Also, there are more bussiness coming into the village, and people have no place for interaction like old times – playing cards, mah-jong, etc.
