osprey Female cowbirds lay their eggs in other birds’ nests. This is called “parasitic nesting. The female cowbird can lay one egg per day in a different nest, producing 40 eggs between May and July! The cowbird watches other birds build their nests. Then, when a bird isn’t looking, she lays her egg in the nest, tossing out some native eggs to make room. Most birds don’t notice and will warm the egg and feed the chick when it hatches.

2019 NC Gravity Games: STEM, Racing & Fun for the Whole Family! In previous years, the games have attracted more than 200 teams from every corner of the state, and 2019 promises to be among the biggest yet.
The 9th Annual NC Gravity Games will be held on Saturday, April 13th in downtown Lenoir, NC. If you love racing, science, tech demos, cheering crowds and plenty more action, make plans to join the fun!
The NC Gravity Games are brought to you by Google, Appalachian State University and the City of Lenoir.
A signature event of the North Carolina Science Festival, the games feature gravitypowered cars competing in a series of downhill races, complete with cheering crowds. In addition to gravity-powered car racing, the NC Gracity Games celebrate all things STEM, featuing a science expo with hands-on exhibits that will amaze and entertain you! 'Science Street' at the NC Gravity Games is a STEM extravaganza of mind-expanding, hands-on science exhibits designed to get students revved up about science and engineering. Each year, middle and high school teams from across North Carolina make the trip to the NC Gravity Games to compete in brightly colored and gravity-powered cars that the students have designed and built themselves.
The entire event is free and open to the public. For more information, including rules, entry deadline and links to register, visit ncgravitygames.com.
The 2019 engineering challenge is "Transformation": to design and construct a vehicle that starts the race with 3 or 4 wheels in contact with the ground, and then “transforms during the race, to only 2 wheels in contact with the ground by the end.

(In Theaters: March 19, 2019)
(In Theaters: March 29, 2019)
Wonder Park tells the story of a magnificent amusement park where the imagination of a wildly creative girl named June comes alive. One magical day, as June is running home through the woods, she discovers an old rollercoaster car and climbs inside. She suddenly finds herself in Wonderland, an amusement park she had created in her mind in the past. Her amusement park rides and characters are brought to life in Wonderland, but they are falling into disarray without her. Now, with the help of her fun and lovable park characters, June will have to put the wonder back in Wonderland before it is lost forever. Rated PG (for some mild thematic elements and action). 1 hr. 26 min. Nickelodeon Movies, Paramount Animation.
Based on the original, iconic 1941 film, Disney's much-anticipated CGI and liveaction Dumbo arrives in theaters on March 29th, bringing the beloved baby elephant to a new generation of movie viewers and to Dumbo fans of all ages. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets. Rated PG (for peril/action, some thematic elements, and brief mild language). 1 hr. 40 min. Walt Disney Studios.
