«Dandy Warhols cover record album» It was really tantalizing to mix a great pop art artist with a great pop band who share some common points like the name and a «pop» attitude, by revisiting one of the famous artworks of Andy Warhol: «Campbell soup cans». The front cover album shows twelve tins looking like the original ones. Each label was edited and faithfully recreated with the same design and fonts in order to get the feeling of the original at first sight.

The rear face shows the ingredients list like on every soup can. But, if you take a closer look, you can see the name and the number of tracks as well as the name of the band members rather than foods...

is made in the same way but more colorfull like Africa! I used pictures of wooden statues taken with a macro and other pictures like the lezard and the tin roofs which I had taken during a travel in Cameroon close to the Nigerian border. Here opposite the layouts show both pages side by side with the lyrics of each song. A lot of photoshop brushes were used in order to inspire a «hand-made» feeling like a diary or a travel journal.

That’s how I started my first frame on a shoestring by staging my wife, my dog, my small cars and some other stuff like IKEA plates stuck together to make a flying saucer... The Aliens faces are resin busts, I have fourty pieces in a closet! I know it sounds strange but it’s another story...

This work draws its inspiration straight to my childhood. Tv series like the Twilight Zone or the first version of worlds war fed my imagination. I wanted to highlight and exploit this oldfashioned way to make that kind of movies. This particular art so well used by Ed Wood which can make smile with its monsters in rubber and chewed-paper decors.

I tried to use photoshop parsimoniously that’s why everything, exept some details like the face of Humphrey Bogart, were staged and shooted. The picture with the cars rushing to escape from the flying saucer’s lazer was made in one shot. I set my small cars in a certain position to give the feeling of speed, the big board with Marilyn and the scenery behind are models. I added only some effects like the beam of the car lights, dust cloud and the lazer...

My making of Jack

Who knows Tim Burton knows « Nightmare before Christmas». This mad animation movie is, before the reign of the 3D, one of the masterpiece of the style. I like very much the character of jack, his behaviour and his attitude as well as his design. I wanted to «recreate» in this work, the film poster, but for that I needed to get my own Jack. So I drew some sketches of him in the scene in the cimetery, where he is singing on a very big tentacle root. Once done, with iron structure, shewed paper and modeling paste, I sculpted my Jack standing on a vegetated tentacle. I set it in my studio, staged it in front of a background decor with a huge full moon which shone thanks to some flashes installed at defined places, thus providing a werewolf night atmosphere!

Welcome in the exuberant and wild world of Johan De Moor! Johan is the son of Bob de Moor who is the last person who has collaborated with Hergé (Tintin), and like his father he’s a great comics author. With his famous hero, the cow secret agent: «la vache Pi=3,1416» he is certainly one of the more surrealist and nuts belgium comics ambassador. Thus, it was so natural for the creators of the great exhibition «made in Belgium» in Brussels, to ask Mr De Moor to imagine and design an area dedicated to the belgium comics heritage. My wife and I had the opportunity to live a very fun and rich experience by working with him. Indeed we were in charge to reproduce on wooden panels that we painted, each character he had drawn in order to create a huge 3D scenary, where famous comics characters rushed out of big books in a blaring style! As expected, the result was spectacular!

However the much older since they come straight from Brian Froud , a master of the style as an il books about this theme, one of the most f sharpness of his strokes has always fascin artist whose I draw my inspiration from, th belgian comics illustrator and Loisel . The Elves garden is a tea room and brass lake in Spa. The concept was to create a 3D decor in illustrations and murals. The main pieces were two big trees ins living room in front of the bar on whi painted. The challenge of these two big trees was their conception in my workshop, then their installation in their final place. Each branch was dismountable, in this way it was easy to move them out the workshop, pick them up in a lorry and re-mount them on the trunk. Some big pipes and chicken meshes were used to make the framework and give the primal shapes. With a homemade chewed

«"Doo be doo "« certainly rings you a bell... Yes! that’s the chorus sung by a red monkey in the Disney’s movie of the Jungle book. As a fan of this movie, the owner called his bar the «Doo be Doo». But the only thing this bar had in common with this very funny animation was these 3 words... He called me and just said:»"ok, paint me something on the frontage, I want something urban and midway between the jungle book and the Aristocats!"». That’s what I did...

Hey, What’s Elvis doing there!? No, I didn’t meet Elvis but spent 3 months with my wife in the apartment in the french quarter of New Orleans where the king had played the movie: «The king creole». That was from this balcony he sang the bewitching «Crawfish»! (watch the clip on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oa7gT2V8WE4) During a visit in Belgium the owners of this apartment fell in love with the parc where reproduce one of the sight of the park in their dinning room.
