Ashley’s Story
On September 4, 1988, in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia, God sent a precious angel with a special mission in mind . Her purpose was to touch countless hearts with a spirit so sweet and kind. Ashley entered the world, a tiny miracle weighing a mere 2 pounds. A surviver from birth, she defied the odds and blossomed for an extraordinary 35 years by leaps and bounds!
Ashley attended Skyview Elementary and Lindley Middle schools, and earned a diploma from R.L. Osborn High School. With style and a huge personality, she was adored by her classmates and teachers alike because she was such a jewel.
In her early years, she became a member of Paradise Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop Paul L. Fortson and Evangelist Carolyn C. Fortson. As she grew older, she enjoyed worshipping virtually on Thurday evenings and on Sunday mornings to give thanks to God for all He’s done.
Without ever saying a word, she touched so many hearts. God made her extraordinary, from the very start. Her smile was infectious and her laughter could fill a room. Her strength was that of giants, even when faced with gloom. The glow of God’s grace surrounded her each day. He covered her with goodness in His own special way. And when her earthly mission was done, He called her home beyond the sun.
On a quite Friday morning, Ashley’s earthly journey came to an end. But she will always be remembered by her family and her friends. “Welcome home, my sweet daughter!” our dear Lord proclaimed. As Ashley entered heaven’s gate, there was no more fear or pain. She was greeted by a host of those she loved so much; her grandparents, Winston and Doris Murry; her great-grandparents, Superintendent Henry Lee and Grace Fountain; her little cousin, Andrew Jackson; and others whose lives she touched.
To forever cherish her memory, she leaves behind Arlene Vanessa, her mom, and Ellison II, her dad; a sister, Elisa, and a brother, Ellison III, who could always make her laugh. Her aunts and uncles, whom she dearly loved, include Katie (John) Freeman, Sharon D. (Jerome) McDowell, Angela M. (Ronald) Jackson, and Avis M. (Teky) Murry, all sent from God above. Ashley’s list of loved ones extends far and wide, with hosts of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends of every kind.
