TESTIMONIALS of IEEE TCET 2017-18 Officers Srinath Iyer | Chairperson IEEE-TCET Being the Chairperson of IEEE-TCET chapter, I can say that this journey for me throughout the year has been incredible with ample amount of learning and wondrous experiences. I owe my seniors and our faculties a huge thanks for giving me this opportunity to take on this post. At first, I’d admit that I was a bit scared as well as nervous for how everything would go about after this post was offered to me at the start of the academic year. But I guess, that’s just normal for any being to feel that way in the start of something new. I mustered up some courage, welcomed this prodigious opportunity being the post of Chairperson with wide and open arms. We then got to work towards the activities we were about to organize for the semester. And just after a blink of the eye arrived our first event, the Poster making competition where I & all my fellow committee members put all their efforts in making the event a remarkable one with more than 90 participations from Second Year and Third Year students. We then proceeded ahead with the planning of all the upcoming activities and successfully conducted various events like Android app building workshop, Seminar on Networking, Seminar on Machine Learning, Quiz and debate competitions, Zephyr, Industrial Visit etc. I got to concede that there were many ups and downs during this venture we experienced, with many problems standing in our way but we somehow always managed to come up with a solution to overcome those problems. It was never a disappointing element or a situation for me with these issues because there was always a learning opportunity behind solving the problems which in turn made me a better person than I was before. There were times where some situation would turn stressful and irksome but I never snapped out to do something crazy or get aggressive. Rather I used to be in a calm state of mind at all times, figuring out a quick fix for the current dilemma. I would like to thank my comrades in the IEEE team wholeheartedly who helped me counter n number of situations we faced throughout the past year in a jiffy. I am also very grateful to our Branch Counsellor Dr. Lochan Jolly who helped & guided us throughout this journey. Last but not the least, I show my immense gratitude towards our faculty in-charges Mr. Deepak Shete and Ms. Aradhana Manekar who were always with us in good times as well in bad times, mentoring and motivating us to shape ourselves as better individuals than we were yesterday. I’m just overjoyed for I got to be a part of something this big, the memories for which will always be an unforgettable chunk of my life.
Sonali Choudhary | Vice Chairperson IEEE-TCET
Being the Vice-chairperson of IEEE Tcet chapter, I can say that it was a huge opportunity for me to learn and grow in an environment which provides a great platform to enhance your skills and also growing in a team. I can proudly say that as a person it was tremendous growth in me from sitting into the class to organising such great events was an another experience which can't be explained in words. The best learning we had got is in the industrial visit which was organised by us with the help of our beloved teachers it was a great success. We had learnt to plan an event from scratch and then making it successful and when it gets over the happiness and peace we get is incomparable. We always had our supportive teachers like Deepak sir and Aradhana mam who were the backbone of IEEE Tcet chapter. Our first event was poster making competition and our last event was EXIM the way we conducted our first event when we were in the learning phase and the last event where we were far better and experienced so analysing our weak points and strong points and weak points and improving them was a major learning.I would love to thank our teachers and especially Lochan Ma'am was believing in us and giving us such a great platform to grow these memories will always stay close to our heart throughout our life Thank you so much.
Chinmay Tompé| Secretary IEEETCET
I feel like I am severing a part of me as I type my experience of an entire year and get ready to end my term as the secretary of IEEE TCET.To be honest, I was skeptical of whether getting involved in so many department activities will really be helpful given the strict attendance requirements and lectures. It was when I started working in a team as IEEE TCET, I found something to look forward to.I had participated in a few workshops conducted by this professional body and it turned out to be a good learning experience. All the while I grew acquaintance with the then secretary, Dhruv, who I found to be a brilliant guy.The reason I decided to go for the organizing committee interviews was partly because of him and partly because I had ideas that I wanted my college experience to include and I could engineer those being part of a student leader group. It does help to have a vision in life but sometimes things spiral out of your foresight and you're left overwhelmed by life's vagaries.Nevertheless, one of my favorite artists says,"If you don't have any shadows you're not in the light". Round the year we planned and conducted events to facilitate professional and technical growth in students. We tried to align our events with IEEE's mission statement "IEEE's core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity." What I want you to know as an IEEE member or as a potential succeeding officer is that we are all volunteers and no member grade is at a better position and none is at a lower.I would encourage all IEEE members to get involved in organizing the events so that maybe one day we won't need officers or as we call them 'the core committee'.There were many ideas that we couldn't implement due to various reasons but I hope the new members will take heed to such student centric ideas and put our student branch on a global map. It has been an amazing experience, one that I will never forget.I have grown as a person and an individual and I think all the members should take the benefit of putting themselves out there to learn and grow as a professional.
Shriya Shah | Treasurer IEEE-TCET
Being the Treasurer of IEEE-TCET chapter, I can say that my experience with IEEE-TCET was indeed an amazing experience which also gave me ample amount of learning. I thank my seniors and the faculty of TCET who thought that I’m capable for this post and gave me this opportunity of being a part of IEEE-TCET. The year started with the membership drive for which the IEEE Committee had to encourage the students for being a member of IEEE, and with our efforts we got total 94 student memberships which was a great achievement for us at the beginning itself. Then we conducted our First event Poster Making Competition in which my role as a treasurer was not only to look after the budget and the money expenses but also to plan the whole event from scratch, with the of all other committee members this event was a big success for us. According to IEEE Academic Calendar we conducted many events on Fridays like Android app building workshop, Seminar on Networking, Seminar on Machine Learning, Quiz and debate competitions, Zephyr, Industrial Visit, IC the future project competition etc. We tried our best to improve our performance event by event. My overall experience working with my IEEE team was amazing and I cherish it. There were also some instant problems which we had to face but we tried our best to tackle them as a team. Every obstacle and problems during the event taught us something new and we learned how to find solutions to those problems together and this also helped me to understand my committee members well. I would like to thank everyone who was part of this journey and helped me to perform well. I would also like to thank my IEEE Team who always had my back in every situation. I am also very grateful to our Branch Counsellor Dr. Lochan Jolly who guided and helped us throughout this journey. Last but not the least, I show my immense gratitude towards our faculty in-charges Mr. Deepak Shete and Ms. Aradhana Manekar who were always there motivating and mentoring us in every situation which helped us to be better individuals. So I’m glad to be a part of IEEE-TCET and overall my journey with IEEE was not only about learning and managing but a complete package of memories which will stay with me forever.
Sourabh Roy| Event Manager IEEE-TCET
Being the Event Manager for IEEE-TCET chapter, I can say that holding this post throughout the year has been an incredible and learning experience. I owe the ex officers of IEEE TCETchapter and our faculties a huge thanks for giving me this opportunity to work in this elite committee as a core member. At first when the year started and I took up the job after I was offerd the post there were numerous activities going on and being new to such exposure I was a bit of nervous and excited . But I guess that any human being who is trusted upon with some responsibilities to handle feels the same way. I made up my mind and opened my arms for this big box of challenges. We then got to work towards the activities we were about to organize for the semester. This was August and I was new to the system one fine day I found myself sitting among other committees and with full enthusiasm we were debating on the events of zephyr, that day changed me as a person n we just came to kno that we are here because we have the ability in us to stand out from the crowed . There were many ups and downs during this venture, we experienced loads of unwanted situations , with many problems standing in our way but we somehow always managed to come up with a solution for the problems with help of sheer professionalism and teamwork. It was never a disappointing element or a situation for me with these issues, there was always a learning opportunity behind solving the problems and also the most important factor the unconditional support from my team members which in turn made me a better and more responsible person than I was before. I would like to thank my IEEE team wholeheartedly who helped me counter these situations we faced throughout my tenure. I am also very grateful to our Branch Counsellor Dr.Lochan Jolly for her help& guidance throughout this mindblowing journey. I show my immense gratitude towards our faculty in-charges Mr.Deepak Shete and Ms.AradhanaManekar who were always with us in good times as well in bad times, mentoring and guiding us to shape our personalities and evolve as better indiviaduals than we were before coming up on this platform for immense development. It makes me a bit sad thinking about the end of this fabulous journey but at the same time it brings me great joy for I got to be a part of something this big, the memories for which will always be unforgettable and the knowledge obtained will always be like a gem to me.
Dhairya Upadhyay | Marketing Head IEEEE-TCET When I joined TCET in 2015, I did not know anything about IEEE beyond listening its name in context to technical papers and seeing at the resume of MR.Elon Musk, and when I became acquainted about the IEEETCET chapter it prompted me to scrutinize every aspect of IEEE on net. That stirred up my interest in the organization. I owe my seniors and faculties a huge debt for considering me capable enough for the post of “Marketing Manager”. This journey with IEEE TCET student chapter has been quite overwhelming and a great learning curve. The amount of exposure and managerial skills that I have acquired over the course of this year is rich and will definitely be fruitful in the coming years when I will be in the industry. I still remember when I was elected, I was more confused than happy. I had to convene every ounce of courage I had and commenced my journey with a new label along with fellow members and successfully conducted our first event with a huge turnout from SE as well as TE students. This committee did teach me one important lesson; No Man Is An Island. Concept of teamwork is vital for an organisation like ours, as problems arise but when you have unwavering support of your fellow members you all will definitely find a solution for it. We went on to organise many such grand events reaching new heights in the history books of IEEE TCET. The post of Marketing Manager taught me to take dextrous approach when you go for the job of sponsorship, because when you are negotiating you need to be adroit or quick witted to get out of difficult spots cleverly and handle situations ingeniously. "Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other." John F. Kennedy. I do believe in this quote as I always believe that every situation you go through in your life, teach you something which will increase your ability while helping others who are going through the same situation and this post has given me this kind of exposure which will help me when I get out of this college and help me survive in outside world. Situations do get tough, pressure does start to mount up and workload starts to take a toll on the stability of your brain, but the camaraderie amongst fellow members helps you go through such troublesome situations. We were fortunate enough to have our branch counsellor Dr. Lochan Jolly who helped us and guided us throughout our tenure. Our faculty in-charges Mr.Deepak Shete and Ms. Aradhana Manekar always had unwavering faith in our efforts and always backed us, they were our pole on which we could lean on to during bad times. Our branch counsellor, faculty incharges have always shared their words of wisdom and knowledge which we now hold close to our heart. Thank you all!!
