Who is Randy Mora? • Randy Mora is a 29 year old freelance collage illustrator/artist from Bogotá, Colombia. He studied advertising but chose art and illustration as a profession instead. He really enjoys watching films from all over the world and listening to music, These are a fundamental part of his inspiration. He explains that, “since I’m a quiet person, I like to use my art as a way to screaming all the things that I find attractive or annoying about humanity.”

• Psychopathic Bosses, 2011, for Client: Dinero, Business and Economy Magazine

His use of the images, that we’ve seen so many times but can’t quite pinpoint the original, make for a creepy aura in his work. This makes sense considering the charged subject matter of his pieces, as he states, “these issues end up being a mix of my obsession with human behavior, sin, evil, flesh, passions, sex, morality and many other topics that must be treated with special sensitivity.”

• My Favourite Independent Bookshop: Gay’s the Word, London, 2011, for Client: The Guardian (UK)

• Pan de Vida, 2010, digital collage 46 x 60 cm

He has worked for various editorial clients in publications around the world such as Wired Magazine, GQ Spain, The Guardian, Dinero Magazine, The Quarterly Magazine, Il Sole 24 Ore, among others. His collages have been recognized in books such as Gestalten's Cutting Edges: Contemporary Collage (Germany), Cut & Paste: Collage Put Into Practice (Sweden) and 50 Formas de Ver la Ilustraci贸n (Colombia). He has also been part of several group exhibitions in China, USA, Sweden, UK, Mexico and Colombia.

Nisi Dominus, 2009, digital collage, 43.5 x 60 cm

Devil Got My Woman (2010) Digital Collage 50 x 44 cm

• LA PITONISA. BY RANDY MORA, 2010. • Looking at Randy Mora’s collages reminds me that in art, everything is possible. Somehow he manages to project the most diverse objects in harmony, making it no more than logical that they are brought together in his works. What’s also interesting, is that even the ‘creepier’ elements in his works (such as organs and sliced heads) are really beautiful. As if they were not meant to be creepy at all. They’re simply part of amazing, lively collages that tell stories on their own.
