SHRINE OF DARKNESS SHRINE ARCHITECTURE
While I passing by, I am guided by the atmosphere of openness and welcoming. Walk along deeper, movement of the visitor is separated by the structure that arranges everywhere, passing through, spreading over the space.

Here, one’s curiosity is attracted by glimpses into the darkness. Natural light is filtered vertically through the structure to the ground, casting the spacious shadows and leading the way.

Set to be built in the Harumi waterfront area of Tokyo, the Olympic Village Plaza will form part of the Village. The plaza will be made with domestic wood from each of the 63 local municipalities to showcase Japan’s culture and traditions during the Olympic months. The discrete system will address this issue by demonstrating the intelligence of the traditional craft whilst also responding to the contemporary questions of flexible construction ecology and circular economy. By designing the plaza with a discrete system which can be demounted and re-shaped and assembled into a more permanent school building, valuable resources can be kept from one building life-cycle to the next.
