Is It Possible for Politics To Not Talk Complete S#!T? By Tom Zani The leaders of our country are supposed to be honest, trustworthy and compassionate. Instead politics make us incompetent, crippling our ability to think critically about realistic choices that have the potential to be made. Politics enforce “modest differences of opinion” on policy into “an apocalyptic battle between virtue and vice,” (Aaron Powell and Trevor Burrus argue in an essay on Cato Institute’s Libertarianism.org site) and all too often they make us hate each other. The ‘Great Leaders of Our Time’ argue unintentionally but inevitably turning neighbour against neighbour, husband against wife, brother against brother. Politics have been talking s#!t since the pharaohs in ancient Egypt were bossing the peasants around, however in 2016 it has seemed as though the complete and utter nonsense has escalated a billion times over. How else would an orange oompa loompa be elected the president of the United States of America? And why did the leave campaigns succeed in UK’s brexit referendum? There is only one logical answer, the general public have been brainwashed by the manipulative ideals of s#!t talking politics. Now let’s get to
the big question, is it possible for politics to no talk complete s#!t? There has been a lot of arguments over this question which just further supports my argument that politics are the cause of a lot of anger and hate. But anyway, there are a few straight talking politics and those seem to be the most popular despite who wins. No matter what article you read it will always have an aspect of political bias, and this one is no different but I am not trying to sway your political views no matter what they are.
Even though Trump is seen as an imbecile by most of the world he deserves some credit, he utilizes the “post-truth” strategies to rile up a crowd with false accusations like “all muslims are potential terrorists.” Trump has a very basic political strategy. In most of his rallies he states a problem, puts the blame on one race or culture, then creates an outrageous solution that has a very limited chance of actually working. The types of political strategies that are used today are focused around the securing and retention of supporters rather than the procedures that should be put into place to propel the country’s The politics that continuously lie economy and solidifying peace. A survey by the world’s largest public
ter by Edelman has documented that within the past year there has been a collapse of trust of major government agencies and have a deep fear of globalisation, immigration and changing values. One of the dominant countries that harbour these fears is Australia, from their annual surveys Australia’s trust of government plummeted 8 points to 37 (out of 100) which has been one of the worst drops of any country measured. For comparison in the most recent year Britain’s trust stayed the same and America’s rose by 8 points, despite the events, to 47. What Edelman was trying to prove was that people’s trust in politics was dropping, but the way that I portrayed it was that the American people have fallen for the “post-truth” strategies and have placed their trust in all the wrong places. In years to come, will we see more politics converting to the “post-truth” campaigns? Applying all their resources to try and gain supporters rather than trying to better the world? Will politics continue to fill the heads of the people they are supposed to be leading with false allegations? So, is it possible for politics to not talk complete s#*t? Yes, but the real reason behind the s#!t is only to please us. We are fueling their need to tell us what we want to hear. Not what we necessarily need to hear.

Last week, rumours spreading warning and fear of the shutting down of the music sharing and streaming startup mogul SoundCloud surfaced on popular social medias such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This resulted in many music connoisseurs, small time artists and even some famous musicians taking to social media and online forums to express their concern and upset as they counted down the days before it was time to say bye-bye to one of the music community’s favourite websites. Even Chance The Rapper took to Twitter to assure his followers that he was “working on the SoundCloud thing.” This rumour was later exposed by SoundCloud to be nothing but “noise”, telling their users that their “music is safe” and that “SoundCloud is here to stay.” After all this “noise”, as SoundCloud so brilliantly put it, I decided to put SoundCloud to the test. As an avid SoundCloud user I feel that my previous experiences using the platform will help me review SoundCloud as a listener and producer and give you guys my honest opinion on what SoundCloud has to offer the music community.

After using SoundCloud for a number of years to listen to music, find new artists and songs, and upload my own original content I have to say that SoundCloud is a an experience and resource like no other. Not only does SoundCloud encourage and support new and alternative music and their accompanying niche following, but it provides users with a listening experience and community like none that I have ever come across in my life. If you are a casual listener or alternative music artisan SoundCloud is a journey that I highly recommend you arm yourself with your favourite pair of headphones and set-sail.

The Underground Activity Of Esports By Harry Chipman
Throughout the world a new sport is gaining influence, but it’s not your typical sport. While it does require a lot of training, hard work and teamwork, it’s quite far from your ordinary rugby or football game. The increasing popular activity of Esports is what I’m talking about. The word Esports means Electronic Sports. Yes, this whole sport revolves around people playing video games, and no, not video games like Wii Sports or Wii Fit, but the proper shoot em up video games that require teamwork, strategies, and flawless hand eye coordination.
Games such as StarCraft, Overwatch, LoL (League of Legends) and many more are played with people watching, learning and cheering on for the players. Not only are there a few million people watching these gamers live online but there are tournaments for these games that sell out large stadiums around the whole world. Some games have their own tournament dedicated to the game itself and its pro players, one game of which is League of Legends with it’s League of Legends World Championship.
The finals of this tournament alone alone of this tournament were viewed by 43 million people with the highest concurrent viewership being 14.7 million in 2016. The amazing thing about this ‘secret sport’ is that the money generated from winnings are incredible, the top four teams from the finals of the League of Legends World Championship alone won 4,187,500 $US in prize money, with the top team earning more than half of that at 2,680,800 US dollars.
Esports is only just becoming popular around the world, these large tournaments are mainly happening in Europe and the Americas but Oceania has its own little tournaments as well. Personally I could see Esports completely taking over the sporting industry within three to five years if not less and here’s why. Firstly, it’s easy to get into. Anyone can download these games if they have a computer and internet connection. Some games, such as League of Legends, are even free to play, I’d suggest giving it a go yourself. Secondly, you can play with and meet new friends from all across the world Thirdly, like all video games, they’re all addictive, Finally because it’s so easy to watch. You just go to a streaming website such as Twitch.tv or Youtube.com and you’ll find live streams of people playing games in tournaments or just casually.
potential that it has. Esports is still far from the perfect sport though, there are still many things that need to be sorted out before you turn on the TV to see a bunch of teens playing video games. Some of the threats to this sport are; Cheaters, I’d say it’s a lot easier to cheat in video games than in a game of football. Anything having to do with electronics is open to the vulnerability of hacking. Some players have already been accused of throwing games. In conclusion Esports is a new unique sport that is growing at a very fast pace, it is having millions of dollars being poured into it and is definitely something to keep your eye on. I’d suggest even trying some of the games yourself. You never know, maybe one day you’ll be considered a professional gamer.
Esports is becoming a very dominant form of sport and is overtaking many original stereotypes of what sport is. While I do enjoy playing soccer and real physical sport I can see the appeal of Esports and the

How Will The Dark Net Shape The Digital Age? By Kobe Kunce “The Blue Whale Challenge”. At the first glimpse it sounds like some sort of Charity, or another form of the Global trend the “ALS Ice Bucket Challenge”. This horrifyingly popular game is gaining traction in many parts of the world, and is causing many families unbearable grief. If you think you safe, don’t… no is safe anymore. Reader discretion is advised. The Blue Whale Challenge, AKA The Blue Whale Suicide Game, is a game in which teens sign up to through two options. The Deep Web, and the Darknet. Teens put their names and identification criteria into the website to meet the required fields, and instantly become assigned to an administrator. This administrator assigns the teens 50 tasks over 50 days, one each day. These can vary to vast amounts of self harm, stealing, vandalising etc. The teen needs to supply a photo to the administrator of the completed task each day, only then will they receive the next task. The 50th task and the goal of the game, is to commit suicide. Then, they have won the game. This sort of anguish is only accessible through the Dark Net or the Deep Web. Everyone is familiar with the internet. It allows access to many popular websites like Google, Facebook and Twitter. This is formally known as the surface web. This accumulates to only about 4% of the actual World Wide Web. Now if you think about how big you thought the internet was already, then you will fully understand how much you’re missing out on. Under the surface web lays the Deep Web. This section contains confidential documents like Academic Databases, Medical and Financial Records, Scientific Reports and Research, Government Documents and Reports, Subscription-only information etc. Access can be gained to such confidential documents, through the Deep Web browser TOR, which anyone with a computer can download, and a

few passwords. Deeper into the dark side of the internet, lays the Dark Net. This is where the majority of illegal activity on the internet takes place. The Dark Net holds things such as political protest, drug trafficking and other illegal activities. If you wanted to gain a 25 year prison sentence, this is where you would start. The dark net has continued to make headlines over the last decade as a mysterious part of the internet where criminals lurk and engage in illegal activities, all from the privacy of home computers.
The phrase “Darknet” relates to using the internet in a certain way, in which it is extremely difficult for the authorities or other civilians/businesses to monitor your online activity. The way in which this is carried out, is the layering of networks and encryptions. All of this achieved by downloading a free software onto any computer in which the reader chooses. This software runs like any other browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc. Darknet applications aim to be as user friendly as possible, as your average user would not know how to manually scan through millions of
different codes in order to access information. The most common and effective browser used, is called Tor. It allows users to access websites in which they would not be able to, using your commercial browsers. The main noticeable difference in the browser, is that URL’s and website addresses are more than often littered with random numbers and letters, ending in .onion. There are many different tools accessible that relate to the Darknet, Tor being just 1 of them. When Tor is layered with other applications like a single or multiple VPN’s (Virtual Private Network), is becomes next to impossible to track and trace a user. (Continue To Next Page To Continue Reading)
Over the past decade, the Darknet has gained headline features during the current decade, as an unknown and completely anonymous part of the internet where criminals are able to keep out of sight and partake in entirely illegal activities, all from the comfort of their own homes. Many stories of users selling illicit drugs online using sites like AlphaBay and The Silk Road, may be of familiar knowledge to some of you, maybe you have even heard about Bitcoin, which is a completely anonymous online digital currency. Former police officers team up with criminals in the cyber world to create marketplaces worth over $17 Billion. The Darknet holds many secrets, some which some may find disturbing. Although, with all the different reports and opinions about the Darknet, many if not most people would be skeptical about how to explain this to your everyday citizen, who only browses the internet for talking cat videos and when the next season of Suits is going to be released. As such, we have decided to slim this down to a simple, clean cut, yet very informative piece of text to inform you as the underground

A common misconception is that the Darknet is used purely for illegal activity. However, for the majority of the time, the Darknet and Darkweb are used for completely reasonable reasons. It is strewn with journalist databases and information, political chatrooms and discussion pages, a place to trade stocks and even a place for music and art to be shared. Now that we have cleared up the meaning behind the word “dark” and how the Darknet is regularly used, we will briefly dive into how the online marketplaces work. HOW DO THE DARK NET MARKETS WORK, AND HOW DO THEY TRANSLATE INTO THE REAL WORLD? Purchasing illicit items on the Darknet, is almost completely parallel to buying things of commercial websites like Ebay and Amazon. Although, users need to own three different applications to successfully complete a transaction. VPN (Virtual Private Network) Tor (Or other Darknet browser) Bitcoin Bitcoin is a decentralised cryptocurrency that operates on a peer-to-peer network. It has no central authority, it is able to be used in any country, making it unlike any other currency in the world. It can be exchanged for real world currencies, and is almost exclusively digital. As of now, 1 Bitcoin is worth around $3500 AUD, and can be bought at most ATM’s.
carrots or raw milk.
WHERE TO FROM HERE?
The ease of the process is entirely why the Darknet markets are so wide-spread. All pieces of software used are completely legal, which is why we are now seeing a rise in low profile criminals on the Darknet.
Government officials and experts in the field of Darknet investigations, believe that the Darknet is here to stay. There is no escaping that fact. To work with this, governments are now planning to draft new laws and regulations that correlate directly with the use of the Darknet and these marketplaces.
Also, the parcels that are sent within the mail, more often than not, go undetected through security. This is due to a law, where police and or postal services, are not able to open a package, unless they believe that is poses a threat, or looks suspicious. The encryption services that the Darknet holds, it makes it near impossible for the authorities to prove that the parcel was being sent to the desired address by intention, if those packages were seized. Bitcoin’s can not be tracked from buyer to seller. Thus, making it a very low risk high reward trading marketplace. People are now able to buy illicit substances, or firearms from the other side of the country, and have the postal service deliver them, no questions asked. The impact the Darknet and Bitcoin is having on society, has evolved from just the digital realm.
The world in which we live is growing and expanding to the digital realm, and so are the criminals that reside in it. Everything is being converted to a digital form and is becoming more and more accessible wherever you are in the world.
similar advances in technology in the future. The way the Darknet has already traveled and where it has found itself, is a worrying things for many people. It has posed questions about how we value our privacy, what criteria should be kept private, and if anyone should ever be able to become completely anonymous. Thus, governments and individuals all around the world will have to evolve and come to an agreement that society will be forced to move Darknet orientated. The Darknet is the present, it is the future and most of all, it is the only way forward for us as a global society.
The internet is a building block for innovations that have changed the way in which we communicate, share information and live our lives. Examples are those of Ebay, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Email etc. Experts are expecting the Darknet to pose those same opportunities for
Where to from now you may ask.
Once a Darknet user has these 3 measures in place, they are able to access any website of their choosing ending in .onion, locate a legal or illegal product, and click buy to send their Bitcoins through. Interview With Stuart Mckerihan Interviewed By Steve Blunden
Stuey Mckerihan is an avid
surfer, music lover, English teacher and co-founder of ‘Lost Boys Book Club’ (online book review and forum site) living in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Growing up in the gritty streets of Cronulla, Stuey was surrounded by the influence of skating, surfing, alternative and punk rock culture - which is probably where he developed his love for underground and alternative music. I met up with Stuey to discuss what underground culture means to him, and the influence underground culture has on his life.
What does underground culture mean to you? Underground culture means something that is not necessarily understood or appreciated by the majority of people, and by the majority [I mean] people that don’t generally decide for themselves what it is they like, they’re just essentially told by things like television and commercial radio what they should like and shouldn’t like. [These kinds of people] don’t necessarily look beyond some of these
mainstream media sources to think about whether or not they are interested in something [a little] different. “I think the underground is to do with people who take a little bit more time and give a little bit more thought into what it is that they like and why they like it. They’re a little bit more thoughtful in everything they do, their life’s a little bit more artisan.”
What do you think makes something underground? In some ways it just means that it’s not very popular but in other ways “I think it’s something that when you try to bring it up in general conversation with people that you know, they won’t necessarily have any idea what you’re talking about.” The people that it appeals to is a very niche group and you might have to actually seek out other people who are actually into that thing that you’re interested in as well.
What underground artists or groups do you listen to? I’d say at the moment an artist that I like that is somewhat obscure, who I’d describe as underground would probably be a band, somebody like The Black Lips who is someone that you’re not going to ever hear on a commercial radio station or anything like that, and even has limited play on what may be considered kind of alternative radio stations as well. Somebody like Leon Bridges as well started out, when I first started listening to him, I didn’t know many people who were aware of him, but then as I think he won a grammy or got nominated for one he’s become pretty famous. “Sometimes it’s things that were popular and then [are] no longer kind of popular as well.”
How has underground culture influenced your life? Or What is something you enjoy doing that has roots in underground culture?
professionalised it has become but yeah a lot of what attracted me to surfing is kind of the individualistic creativity of the actual activity itself. So rather than being attracted to it for any kind of competitive reason it’s the fact that you can go out and draw lines on a wave that are entirely yours and that can’t really be repeated or sort of mimicked and I think historically those sort activities have attracted misfits and interesting people who had their own kind of fashion and their own styles of music - surf rock, that heavy tremolo guitar and kind of thumping tong drums and that sort of thing. Yeah I’m really attracted to the early foundations of that culture rather than the more kind of commercialised athletic aspects of it now, I think the things that attract me to it are the actual cultural foundations of it that include things like fashion and music and travel and adventure, those are the kind of things that I feel like at it’s core it still maintains despite efforts to undermine that from a professionalised or commercial kind of sense.
I think ironically surfing was initially an outcast pursuit. Now it’s kind of hard to invisage that with how Page 20

One of the first famously recognised politically conscious Hip-Hop songs is The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. The Message was one of the first songs to capture what life was like in the poor, dangerous areas of New York. It told a story of living with the fear of the junkie living under your apartment staircase, the criminals stealing televisions in your neighbourhood and the effect that all this tragedy had on the mind of children growing up in the area - which at the time nobody living outside the area seemed to care about. From this time forward the world was introduced to political Hip-Hop - Public Enemy fighting the power that oppressed African-Americans, N.W.A. highlighting the prejudice shown towards African-Americans and 2Pac publicizing the all-so-real struggles of a teenage pregnancy resulting in a life of
crime due to lack of support. Without Hip-Hop these topics would have stayed hidden out of public view, just how the authorities liked it. The authorities hated these rappers as they told the hidden truth, and packed a rebellious punch that was easy to listen to and raised awareness for areas that needed fixing. As a result of this, people weren’t as scared anymore - they were given a voice, and their voice was heard. Rappers kept singing about what life for them was like, and the authorities hated it - boycotting performances, creating propaganda that Hip-Hop promotes violence and hate against women (which was untrue) and in 2Pac’s case using the FBI to frame a sexual assault. “Hip-Hop advocates gang violence,” “Hip-Hop promotes mistreating women,” - that’s where that all started.
Page 24
The media likes to tell us that there is no place in society for a wild, anti-establishment music genre such as Hip-Hop. But Hip-Hop is not just a music genre, it is a culture a strong culture and way of life. Society hasn’t faltered under the influence of Hip-Hop but rather the other way around. Hip-hop has evolved with society, paralleling its flaws and corrupt dreams and ideals through the rap we here today. Ideals such as that money can buy happiness, as well as glorifying drug abuse and crime. The reason the media in many instances portrays Hip-Hop as a mindless mix of swearing, drugs and expensive clothes is because in many instances that is what it has become. Hip-hop isn’t a forum for people to express their struggles, or speak out about a particular issue anymore. Hip-hop isn’t a living representation of how with hard work, persistence and fighting for what is right you can ‘make it’ anymore. Hip-hop isn’t recognised as a diverse culture of dancing, rapping, beats and graffiti art as it once was. Hip-Hop isn’t used and
recognised as a political and justice orientated movement anymore - but a bunch of angry men trying to tell you that with enough drugs, enough money, enough girls and a wardrobe worth six digits you will be happy. Hip-Hop has always been so much more than shallow, rhyming lyrics serenaded by a generic beat, Hip-Hop has not only changed history, Hip-Hop has helped shape the world and make it what it is today. Without Hip-Hop people wouldn’t have had the power to speak about injustices such as race inequality and gender prejudice in a time where black lives didn’t matter. Without the help of Hip-Hop many people would not have been given a voice to tell the world what life is like on ‘the streets’. Hip-Hop has changed, and I’m asking you, is modern Hip-Hop missing the point?

Who Is Banksey?
For the sake of this article, we will be referring to Banksy as a “him or he”. This is not designed to be sexist or against the female gender in any form. “He” could easily be replaced with “She” and vice versa.
A Biography By Kobe Kunce
This investigation has gone on about an artist whose career has spanned over two decades. Politics and Controversy. The two main ideas behind this individual’s work, in which he has created an entire subculture dedicated to his works. Ideas in which have gained him worldwide fame and created an obsession for those who are fans of underground culture. Born in Bristol, United Kingdom, Banksy attended the Bristol Cathedral Choir School. Not much else is known about this mysterious characters early life. Most of the files have been erased and everyone who was thought to know Banksy as a child, denies ever knowing anything about him. Writing a profile on such a prolific artist that has no childhood is extremely hard, as you may be able to guess. Banksy started graffiti in the early 90’s. He was taken under the wing of Bristol’s own DryBeadZ, and his work was very quickly a large part of the Bristol Underground Subculture. He was a freehand artist during the early phases of his career and took inspiration from other underground artists around him. Over this period of time, he would switch almost exclusively to stencil orientated art. He believed that the stencil provided more options and room for creativity. Banksy is most known for his distinctive underlying messages within his art. With the use of creative and witty slogans, Banksy had created his own signature style of art that brought him praise within the Bristol underground. His first “big break”, was when he painted over advertising and promotions on wall of a previous solicitor (1997). Once considered a vandil, for disfiguring public property, was now considered one of the most popular artists in England. During the years 2002-2003, Banksy had held 2 huge exhibitions, one in Los Angeles, and one in London. These 2 stunts, earned the
individual an interview BBC’s Nigel Wrench, where he spoke about his art and what he intended to communicate. His popularity then grew further, when he chose to print of counterfeit money, replacing the face on the notes with, and imprinting the slogan “Banksy of England” on the note. More galleries were held through the years 2004-2006, and Banksy’s popularity went through the roof. Many of his artworks were stolen and sold for profits over $55 000, and some even hitting the $170 000 mark. Banksy then continued to paint until the year 2010. Here, Banksy directed a motion picture, called Exit Through the Gift Shop: A Banksy Film, and was then nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. However, this did not stop him from focusing on his art. He held a number of galleries through the year 2011, and in 2013 tried something different. Banksy rented a house in London, and began to unveil pieces of art everyday for the entire month of October. Visitors were able to buy original, authentic Banksy art for under $70. This disrupted his art prices within the community, causing them to plummet, as so much of his art was now available In 2013, Banksy went rogue and decided to open a show that ridicules Disneyland. The show was called “Dismaland” and was aimed to be not suitable for children. It received mixed reviews, but the true fans of Banksy were very happy with his project. Although the true Identity of Banksy is unknown, many guess that he is a man by the name of Robin Gunningham, who classmates and close associates have revealed to the media. There are also other assumptions that Banksy could be a woman. Either way, the art and ideas behind this underground legend, have changed the way in which people view art, and the way in which people perceive ideas.
