ARCHITECTURAL EXPRESSION • The building has been designed as a Play of Blocks. • Building is treated with the red stone, dholpur stone cladding and grit which make it rather interesting and less bland. • The stone jaalis seems to be used for light and shadow effect in corridor.

ARTISTIC APPRAISAL • Although the building itself does not stand out artistically but the environment created by the users gives it an artistic feel. The courts have been created for interaction of students, dholpur stone and red stone use for the flooring pattern. play of light and shadows make it rather interesting.

SERVICES

There is barely watercooler per floor that too seems to be in a rather hygienic condition. The toilets are clean. Appropriate fire fighting methods are followed here, with required equipment and a fire escape staircase. The lifts in the multi-story building provide convenience to the users. LINKAGES On the ground floor, spaces are visually connected; physical linkages are illegible and indirect. The spaces are not well lard out according to their relationships; the conference room is on the ground floor where the seminar room is on the first Similarly, administration and library on the ground floor but auditorium and class rooms are on first floor.

FIRE FIGHTING

All necessary steps have been taken to counter fire. There is a fire tank and a fire control room at the gate. There are three staircases and a fire alarm system, smoke detectors, speakers system to counter any outbreak of fire.

HORIZONTAL CIRCULATION The entrance lacks legibility, a once in the campus one does not know where to go. This can be attributed to the absence of a signage system. The horizontal circulation is very well planned and play with light and shadow.

VERTICAL MOVEMENT • Staircases and lifts are provided for vertical movement. • In each block stair case is provided. • On the site there are different type of staircases used.

BUILDING PERFORMANCE Light levels Light is one of the most important requirements for an architecture student. Here, the natural light level is maintained. All the studio gets enough light. The corridors and staircases get enough daylight and are hence give the shadow effect by the railing in corridor. Not much thought has been given to the kind of artificial light required for class rooms and corridors.

WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM

Storage of water within the premises of a building is usually necessary, because the municipal supplies are usually not available round the clock. such storage may also help in meeting static fire demand. And in college overhead storage present in every block in top. So we can say that water supply system of this college is good. And in each unit water cooler is present .

TOILETS

• In each block toilets are provided. And these toilets are well maintained and clean. • There are no toilets are provided for the handicapped people • proper ventilation in toilets.

UTILITY AREA

• In utility area there is a management for the electric system or water supply system. • All the machines of electricity are placed there like generator • It is acoustically treated by the chicken mess.

Landscaping

• Landscaping is present in the courtyard of each block for movement of fresh air in blocks. • Landscaping is also used for view so , student can seat over there. • The pots are used for the landscape. • Laburnum, Ficus, Gulmohar, Plumeria are the trees planted in the whole campus.

SPATIAL CHARACTER The different segments of the building enclose a well-lit open courtyard, every floor have a interaction space. The reception area on the ground floor is double height so that it can gives welcoming entrance, but none of the studios or workshops have that character. Circular column use in structure . Stone cladding is done on the exterior walls and the internal spaces are acoustically treated. Coffer slab is used. Stone cladded railing used in corridor. Louvers used for the shaft ventilation. Towards to the corridor window is not provided. The staircase landing that is semi circular which gives interesting shape to building . The courtyard have less green space it have a flooring of red stone and dholpur stone hence the students prefer open area where they have soft escape.

Demerits • The architectural block has no connection with common area. • For handicapped people there is no planning. • Ramps are not provided. • Soft escape is not provided in the courtyard for the sitting.

Passive Techniques: Passive cooling is a building design approach that focuses on heat gain control and heat dissipation in a building in order to improve the indoor thermal comfort with low or no energy consumption. Passive solar building design, windows, walls, and floors are made to collect, store, and distribute solar energy in the form of heat in the winter and reject solar heat in the summer. Passive daylighting is a system of both collecting sunlight using static, non-moving, and non-tracking systems (such as windows, sliding glass doors, most skylights, light tubes) and reflecting the collected daylight deeper inside with elements such as light shelves. Passive daylighting systems are different from active daylighting systems in that active systems track and/or follow the sun, and rely on mechanical mechanisms to do so.

Micro-climate is created using passive techniques. Diffused light is allowed to enter through roof top. Natural ventilation Interiors are free from dust and heat due to micro-climate
