REAL WEDDINGS
JESSICA & AUSTIN During a wintry vacation in Washington DC, Austin got down on one knee and asked Jessica to marry him — the beauty of the Washington National Cathedral in the background. It was the perfect moment, says Jessica, who met Austin when they were freshmen in college. Their wedding had a similarly magical feel. The industrial venue was softened with billowing florals and greenery and an assortment of candles and lanterns that enhanced the mood. The black and white color palette with blush accents kept the aesthetic classic and minimalist, while the enormous chandelier added some major grandeur. For her bouquet, Jessica knew she wanted a king protea included, and her florist certainly delivered. It added to the wow-factor of her walk down the aisle. Jessica said her favorite part of the day was the ceremony itself. A pianist played while guests found their seats, and her uncle gave the couple a beautiful, heartfelt blessing as the officiant. The music — which continued with a seven-piece band — really gave warmth to their wedding and provided an energetic vibe that kept the dancing going all night. As a send-off, guests lined the exit and blew bubbles, enveloping everyone as the bride and groom waved goodbye in a 1961 Rolls Royce Austin Princess. “The whole day was truly a whirlwind,” she says. “We were lucky enough to go to the Maldives for our honeymoon. It was so romantic! We were really able to embrace our new marriage, look back on our amazing wedding night and completely unwind.”
